Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for February 2026?

cainhurst94

@Slayer25c It's generally why I have reduced my time here. It's off-putting when 90% of the comments are the same bunch who will complain about everything.
Outisde of Undisputed this a great month with a variety of unique games. Subnautica 2 is divisive but has it's fans, Ultros is good metroidvania, Ace Combat 7 is considered amazing by most and is a good way to get people into the series before the new one.

Re: Crimson Desert Deep Dive Tries to Prove Its Crazy Potential Is Reality

cainhurst94

I find it so weird. People seem to be getting increasingly hyped while every trailer or news puts me off more. I guess it feels like they've thrown so much at the wall in terms of gameplay mechanics but it also looks directionless/lacking artistic intent. Mechs/mounts/dragons etc. I don't know it looks like a MMO that got turned into a single player game.

Maybe I've just reached a point where story and art direction just really matter to me. The Abyss sections look interesting though

Re: Larian CEO Swen Vincke Sticks His Foot in It Again, Thinks Game Reviewers Should Also Be Reviewed

cainhurst94

The man might be a genius. What a smart way to get the Gamers(TM) on your side after the AI gaffe by going after critics which they'll purposefully take to mean Games Media.

Also, tomorrow any criticism will have the critic called unfair because they're too harsh. Quite frankly professional critics aren't harsh enough. User reviews are even worst with 0 nuance. Either it's the greatest ever or the worst ever.

Like, a critic who I often disagree with but respect is Stephanie Sterling. Theyre harsh but at least they stick by their views and actually use the full scale.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Sells 11 Million in Just Under a Year, But May Lack World's Momentum

cainhurst94

Honestly the numbers aren't great for MH. Especially one where they went for all platforms. Remember Worlds did 11 million without steams 100+ million users.

But this seems to be a pretty big issue for Capcom right now. All their games have big launches where they get their influencers to talk about every release like it's the best thing since Sliced Bread but then after launch the games are considered decent to poor and have no legs. Even the RE, DMC series have seen massive improvements in sales because they're literally sold for under 10 dollars often

Re: Sony Set to Delay PS6 Release Date, Claims Financial Report

cainhurst94

I feel a lot of the 2027 talk was once again Microsoft through its usual "leakers" trying to rush out next gen and get a feel for the market. Sony obviously won't want a PS3 situation and come late to the game. I think the gen truly started when GOWR released as that was when Jimbo said the shortages were over. Heck some may even say it was when Spidey 2 released as Ragnarok was cross gen.

Re: Yakuza Fan Concerns Come to a Head Over Dodgy Kiwami 3 Graphics

cainhurst94

I will keep saying it, SEGA are clearly speed-running being the JAPANESE UBISOFT. Trying to turn franchises into annual releases, rushing games out as a result and also creating a sort of tedium around every new release.

I played Y0, YK1, YK2 and Judgement but by the time I finished Judgement there was Lost Judgement, ports of 3,4,5, 6 was already out, Y7 was out too.

Each of these games is at least a 40 hour experience if I rushed them on the easiest difficulty with minimal side questing but at that point is it even worth it?

At least Ubisoft sequels have no narrative connection to previous games. All the Yakuza games are connected. Even the new Ichiban saga couldn't be a proper reboot-quel it had to connect to Kiryu again.

Re: Despite Its Price, PS5 Pro Enjoyed a Very Respectable 2025 in USA

cainhurst94

I think a lot of people are ignoring the power of shelf space. I got my PS5 because it was literally in store in 2021, I was really lucky but being in-store I also bought Horizon FW, Ratchet and Miles Morales.

Playstation and Nintendo succeed because they prioritize being noticed in marketing and in stores. Those giant posters and stuff make a difference to the non-redditpilled/gaming forum consumer.

Re: In a Sea of Live Service, Ghost of Yotei Was the Third Best-Selling PS5 Game of 2025 in the US

cainhurst94

It's a fun game that fumbles the ending quite a bit where Tsushima fumbled the mid-game and nailed the ending. As a game Yotei is a massive step up to the rather dull Tsushima where the world is more colorful and fun to explore. Regarding sales, it did well and was well received critically.

A deserved success overall for a great game and not a surprise that people showed up since nobody makes cinematic action/open world games quite like SIE. The right mix of story, just the right amount of gameplay depth for the hardcore but with a easy entry level for casuals.

Re: 'You Can't Do GTA for $10 Million': Split Fiction's Josef Fares Champions Diversity in Games and Budgets

cainhurst94

Personally? I find a bunch of indie games really boring. Oh another roguelike, cozy game with light metroidvania elements and just a ton of meta commentary regarding the genre. Obviously you get the Undertales, Blue Prince, Balatros, Hollow Knight but it isn't a surprise when 5000 new games on Steam last year didn't even earn their 100usd fee back.

In terms of AA? EA really did give it a shot these last few years.. Immortals of Aveum, the monster hunter-like from KT which EA published. Games are risky and sadly sometimes things just don't click. Look at Kunitsu-Gami from Capcom a experimental, well rated AA game. Outside of the hardcore how many actually heard of it? Clair Obscur was a genuine anomaly and the big credit goes to Microsoft for the placement of that trailer in the first reveal. It built hype in a way we hadn't seen since E3.

With AAA, when you take risks with the narrative you get death threats. You are ridiculed for re-using the same animation from the previous game. You are told to put third-person modes in first-person game designs because the 10000 Rockstar employees did it and "first person sucks". How do you take risks when the audience wants Uncharted (which ended beautifully) to come back or something?

This became a rant but I find the indies are the future people and journalists tiring. A healthy gaming environment is one where we see a top 10 chart without GTA 5, FORTNITE, Minecraft and instead see new games Single and Multiplayer doing well.

Re: Here's Why Sony Is Making a Japan-Specific PS5 Console

cainhurst94

Have you seen the price of rice in Japan lately? Forget a 70k yen console. Those guys are struggling to pay for necessities. Like Sega increased the entry level salary to 330k yen a month that's 2100 USD. Where the heck will they afford a PS5 at that price. Rent ain't cheap in the major cities either.

Re: Sony Flexes Its Almighty Marketing Muscle with PS5 Promos Around the World

cainhurst94

@Rich33 I feel like with Pro reveal ad, they knew the sticker shock would be massive to the point nobody would bother with anything else. So they pulled the bandaid fast.

Ive learned one thing seeing the last 10 years of game coverage, the games media lacks people with business knowledge. People like Piscatella, Dring, Schreier and Moriarty are the few voices who actually understand the numbers and intention of investor Reports.

Re: Sony Flexes Its Almighty Marketing Muscle with PS5 Promos Around the World

cainhurst94

@Rich33 responding to you examples
1. Pro marketing. You're absolutely right.
2. Astro not being a major IP wasn't a marketing thing BUT something sony said in their investor reports. Games media misunderstanding is nothing new. Major IP is stuff like Yotei that sold double 3 million in one month. Astro has now earned that right. Now it has to cement it the way Yotei did for the Ghost franchise. They had to specify this because they were saying that they wouldn't have a Spidey 2 or GOWR level revenue bump in first party.

Re: Horizon MMO Uses AI 'Extensively' in Development, Says NCSOFT

cainhurst94

I said it a million times before but expect EVERY Chinese and Korean game to be ALL-IN on AI. It's how they get games out so fast.

With Japan anticipate at least 30-40% of games are using it in some shape or form. Western devs are getting the most push back so I'm not sure how it's going over there but Microsoft and EA are all in.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for November 2025?

cainhurst94

I really liked the atmosphere and concept which I think they could carry to more SoPs. But the content was poor for me. Usually I'm happy if two games are for me in a showcase but this time there was maybe one.

Regarding the PS5 price cut. It's more symbolic to Japanese audiences and developers that they're taking criticism to heart and are willing to fight. I just think they should've done this before the Switch 2 came out. It'll bump numbers back to 15-25k again per week but it is far more a statement of intent for next Gen.

Re: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Piles on PS5 Delay Misery

cainhurst94

@Dan12836666 U3 probably has the greatest set piece in the series with the Plane but that narrative was a mess. Don't blame ND too much since as per Schreier they were Rushed for that one.

@nessisonett I'm trying to give the benefit of doubt because Skydance is a new studio I think and AAA development is hard but I too am starting to think maybe she's not very good at managing large projects. Didn't know she worked on Forspoken so that's a surprise.

Re: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Piles on PS5 Delay Misery

cainhurst94

Amy Hennig is really unlucky. Given the fact that her last full game was Uncharted 3 (U4 was heavily restructured under Druckmann and Straley). Shes had no luck over the past decade. If we don't see any gameplay or info by March or April, I won't be surprised if they shut the studio.

Re: Football Manager 26 Given a Red Card on PC for Putting PS5 Players First

cainhurst94

I'm sorry if this sounds mean but what does this have to do with Playstation Gamers that it warrants a blog on Push Square?

You could have brought up that it has Playstation store review score of 1.85 right now and talk about the buggy release.

I get that Playstation being so quiet leads to a lack of articles and stories for a dedicated blog but surely we can have better stories than trying to mix PC gaming and PS gaming.
