Re: Crimson Desert PS5 Concern as Physical Copies Won't Run without Download

cainhurst94

@somnambulance I feel 78-82. Combat good, big map being either praise or criticism, story being ass, game having no real sense of identity in the name of content. Personally everything I've seen screams CONTENT: THE GAME in a bad way but I also feel gaming is slowly moving beyond my tastes with directorial intent being replaced by "make your own fun in our sandbox".

Re: 'No One Is Buying This on PS5': PC Port Begging Already Unbearable as Sony Switches Strategy

cainhurst94

1. Twitter and youtube are easily run by bots now. Twitter is especially bad with blue checks engagement farming for rent money. playstation and PS Games sell well despite these engagement farmers telling you every PS Studio game since the PS4 era is a trash walking sim sad dad game.

2. I think it will be very loud and annoying for a while (a couple of years) because Sony allowed this expectation to happen when they started this stupidity with Zero Dawn. You set up the expectation, now you have to slowly get it out.

3. Exclusives have value and games like SAROS may not be "Tentpoles" that move units but they are the exact kind weird/hardcore experience that the core gamer will appreciate.

I think for most people this won't matter and the spamming of comments with negative sentiment has been happening on all of PS's socials for years now. Normal People will just play something else or buy the console for something else and play this eventually.

Re: Hands On: Ghost of Yotei Legends Is Big Enough and Good Enough to Be Its Own Game

cainhurst94

@Afroducc not that surprsing PS Studios give free modes almost all the time
1. Gravity Rush 2 gave Ravens ark for free
2. Ragnarok gave Valhalla for free
3. Returnal gave us Ascension for free
4. Tsuhi/Yotei gave Legends free
5. Astro Bot gave extra levels for free
6. Days Gone got those Arcade modes for free
7. I'm pretty sure ND gave us Jak 1 for free with the Lost Legacy. But I think because it was delayed.

Re: SEGA's PS5 Games Get Good Reviews, So Why Aren't You Buying Them?

cainhurst94

I can tell why I am not. All their games score 20 points to much. Persona 5 Royal is the most 7/10 game ever. Judgement at best a 7.5. No recent Sonic goes beyond a 6. The ugly fantasy persona, so dull I didn't even bother finishing the demo.

They hold the same 2 million players hostage and for a while I was one of them.

Re: Review in Progress: Marathon (PS5) - Bungie's Extraction Shooter Is Brilliant, and It Only Gets Better

cainhurst94

Marathon isn't for me as a singleplayer guy but it's probably the most interesting MP game I've seen in a while. Every clip/video I've seen looks really cool.

I also like that Bungie have clearly made a game with friction in mind where HD2 and Arc became victims of a toxic playerbase. HD2's attempts to make the game tougher as originally planned led to a mass exodus and Arc Raiders increasingly focuses on PVE

Re: PS5 Pro Sales Explode on the Back of PSSR 2 Hype, System Sells Out in Some Stores

cainhurst94

@RoomWithaMoose it's far more than just the games for me though. It's the hardware itself that has issues.
1. Portable battery life is WORSE! A single Mario Kart World Grand Prix takes 13% of the battery in airplane mode
2. The screen is not good when compared with the Portal
3. The Joycons while improved are still ergonomically unfit for long play sessions
4. The weight and size of the new device hurt portability. The Switch 2 in the travel case is almost as big as my Laptop.

The Switch was a cheap enough console that I could ignore these issues but when you price your device similarly to the PS5 (better controller), Xbox series S (better price and perfornance) and Steam Deck (better ergonomics and screen) it falls short in almost every category.

Re: 'Exclusives Are Absolutely Not Happening': Xbox Helix Will Share Library with PS6

cainhurst94

@AdamNovice I think it shows who sees who as competitors
1. Playstation sees Nintendo as their big opponent with the renewed attempt to claw back a foothold in japan, trying to develop smaller games, making IP more timeless.

2. Steam seems to be competing with Microsoft as the PC ecosystem. Especially in a broader Linux vs Windows sense.

3. Nintendo's focus on third parties sees them fight Playstation.

4. Microsoft fights Steam in the PC Ecosystem/Play Anywhere market.

Re: PS6 Rival Xbox Helix Could Cost as Much as $1,200

cainhurst94

Doesn't matter. Xbox has to make sure Windows is not absolute dogshit to have any chance. Seriously Windows 11 is so buggy. My laptop since the last update cannot read my ***** fingerprint.

The Rog Ally gots it's butt handed to them by the weaker deck in performance because of the OS

Re: 'Sony Finally Understands': Over 70% of PS5 Fans Agree with Decision to Scrap PC Ports

cainhurst94

Remember when PSVR2 came out and people thought Valve would put Half Life Alyx because it'd help the VR gaming industry except... Valve never bothered.

Valve understands that exclusives matter to the ecosystem. It's why Counter Strike isn't on Epic, Playstation and Xbox. It's why if they make another Half Life it'll be Steam Exclusive. This stuff matters, it locks you in to the ecosystem.

The stupid thing is Sony spent 6 years diluting their IP by "testing" this strategy. From bad ports, anti-woke PC consumers screaming DEI or some crap on forums, saying PS5 has no exclusives or is all sad dad movie games.

Re: 'They're Not Going to Delay PS6': Hardware Leaker Says 2027 Still Likely After Xbox Helix Reveal

cainhurst94

@NorrinRadd Yet Nintendo themselves are not happy with it's performance admitting it's under-performing in markets outside of Japan.

As per Chris Dring the first Jan of the Switch 1 was 20% higher than Switch 2. It's the fastest selling console so far but it's already lost a lot of lead. The new console has in fact been losing to the PS5 far more often than it should outside Japan.

in case you think I'm making stuff up.:

Re: Opinion: I Wonder if Xbox Helix Will Force Sony to Break Its PS6 Silence

cainhurst94

I think Sony following Nintendo's footsteps will just ignore it. They're in a comfortable position where they could quite literally shrug off massive backfires in their ambitions. I think their best move right now is to focus on elongating this gen with the GTA launch and in fact making Xbox look dumb with their 1000+ dollar PC/CONSOLE hybrid.

I don't think things are getting better soon. The Steam Machine is still struggling to figure out a shipping date and a price and that's even weaker hardware than the PS5.

Microsoft is trying to force next gen early to disrupt the market. Sony played it conservatively with the Gamepass Noise and the Cheaper console noise and it paid off.

Re: 'They're Not Going to Delay PS6': Hardware Leaker Says 2027 Still Likely After Xbox Helix Reveal

cainhurst94

Oof this is a tough one:
1. Microsoft seem to be forcing next gen early with the "Xbox Series Y 720 Two". The muted reaction and the fact that Microsoft chose to show nothing is to me a sign they're running without a plan except "disrupt 3.0"

2. Playstation seems to truly be kicking into gear in the latter half of this generation (I'd say Spidey 2 onwards) and the next year or two are stacked with the big tentpoles. I feel Sony has been learning from Nintendo the right lessons and should follow them again by elongating current gen to late 2028. I feel the 1-2 punch of Wolverine and GTA6 will get HW to beat the PS4.

3. But now we come to the crux of the issue: is AI truly a bubble or not? Let's say 85% of AI companies go, the ones that live will still need more RAM and Storage than ever to keep powering better models. We are also dealing with unprecedented global crisis from a deranged government that is constantly messing with FX, Oil, Inflation and shipping.
If Sony wait too long they risk a Nintendo Switch 2 situation, where sales drop off fast and profit margins become non-existent early on.

Jim Ryan for all the bad he did for the studios and games, he did do a great job with delaying ABK and sorting out the COVID logistics. Nishino will be coming into an even crazier situation.

Re: Site News: Where's Our Marathon PS5 Review?

cainhurst94

@Boxmonkey I think Bungie and Sony will be happy with it. Two months ago it was practically expected to die at launch with the negativity around the game. It's scoring well among players on user reviews right now and I think WoM will be getting more people on board slowly.

Bungie's distrust is still high right now and people want to see the game get real support.

Re: Physical Game Sales Hit All-Time Low in the US

cainhurst94

I'm pretty much completely digital at this point. Even the Switch 2 i only buy physical if the game actually is in the cartridge.

PlayStation I have 3. Including one in india. So if I travel for work. I lose very little. Also living in Hong Kong space becomes a major issue.

Re: Capcom to Show What It's Got After Resident Evil Requiem in Spotlight Showcase

cainhurst94

I'm intrigued by Pragmata's gameplay (it's good but I wonder what kind off longevity or complexity it will have) but the art style and the design of the little girl are off putting for me (it looks a lot like a prettier Vanquish but still too clean)

Onimusha delay incoming? They've been surprisingly quiet about it. Excited to see the new mega man villains.

Couldn't care less about fighting games. Love seeing the art but hate playing them. Monster Hunter Stories is animeslop so blah.
