Re: Pragmata Looks Best on PS5 Pro, Say Tech Experts

cainhurst94

A lot of snide/sarcastic comments but it was only last year where PS5 Pro owners had to genuinely worry if the games Pro optimisation would in fact make it look/perform worse than base PS5.

The fact that we are no longer getting those negative stories from DF is only a positive. Even as a base PS5 owner it bodes well for the PS6.

I think we are seeing a certain level of jealousy for those who got it when it was more reasonable and are now seeing the benefits visibly.

Re: New Capcom IP Pragmata an Instant Success, Sells 1 Million Copies

cainhurst94

I think I will wait for a sale on this one. Something about the art feels very bland like Vanquish. Got Mouse PI (Noir and Mickey Mouse looks hell yeah) and Saros (it's Housemarque) instead for my shooters. It is always good to see a new IP do well though and it's a smart use of dynamic pricing from Capcom (I do wonder how much it cost with the delayed dev time and pretty big marketing push)

Re: 'I Didn't Listen to Him': Ex PlayStation Boss Shu Yoshida on Why Jim Ryan 'Fired' Him

cainhurst94

Controversial opinion but all these problems started under Yoshida and Layden's tenure. The shutdown or mismanagement (Japan Studios, Liverpool) of the more experimental studios, the higher budget AAAs with longer dev times etc. Live Service is the only aspect where they maybe should've actually invested in early on rather than during covid when the industry already hit the peak.

Ryan definitely went about it incorrectly and bet on the wrong horses (though i will give him credit for aorting out the PS5 stock issues and ABK)

Another thing which I do find fascinating is how little we actually hear or read about Hulst or Ryan meddling or intefereing in game dev.

Re: Poll: Do Crimson Desert's PS5 Patches Put Other Devs to Shame, or Is the Game Simply Unfinished?

cainhurst94

I'm sorry but how are we accepting this line of questioning? It is embarrassing. If Ubisoft, EA or Sony did this.. the same ***** would be flaming them for not waiting. Even CDPR rightly got screwed for the launch of CP2077.

Pearl Abyss clearly released it earlier for the end of quarter bump and should be derided for launching a game so sloppily.

I have said it for a long time but the absolute lack of push back/criticism East Asian devs get for shoddy releases is shocking.

Re: This Pragmata PR Gift Might Be the Most Insane Press Kit We've Ever Seen

cainhurst94

@Oram77 because it's essentially a bribe to be more positive. I always hated the concept. At least back in the 360 era the most people would get is a collectors edition figure or some such but now these kits become expensive.

but then again I think most review sites/tubers should do the ACG style of if you get a review code, still buy the game and just gift it to a winner or something. You cannot authentically give an opinion of a piece of media without actually spending money on it. It changes the whole scenario in my opinion.

Re: Metro 2039 Confirmed for Reveal in Xbox Livestream This Thursday

cainhurst94

Weird enough I played through the first two Metro games after hearing so much about the atmosphere, tone and mood etc and I was extremely underwhelmed. Doesn't help that it's a bore in regards to story when compared to the books depth. Absolutely didn't like it. I saw a playthrough of Exodus since again it was praised to high heaven and once again the story just didn't work for me.

Re: Fable PS5 Reportedly Delayed, GTA 6 Could Push It to 2027

cainhurst94

Not surprising. It's a massive shift in genres, gameplay and... well everything really for Playground games. Doesn't help that reception for the most part has been leaning towards caution especially with the humor and character designs. There has also been a lack of combat gameplay and what has been shown looks pretty jank and could be spruced up more.

Xbox's new management has to get Fable right. FH6 isn't too difficult as it's a formula Playground has already perfected and they've gone for the Japan which automatically increases critical and commercial success with the gamer/otaku crowd.

Re: Professor Layton Makes His Long-Awaited PS5 Debut Later This Year, Almost 20 Years After the Series Started

cainhurst94

Really do live in crazy times. What will be even crazier is if they have cloud streaming at launch for the Portal. Playing this on a comfortable handheld rather than the annoyingly un-ergonomic Swich 2 will be nice.

What I do find most fascinating is how certain devs overlook or delay releases on Xbox or Playstation. For example none of the Level-5 games are headed to Xbox but, Square Enix released Bravely Default on Xbox but not the Playstation. I wonder how they decide?

Re: Sony Announces Gigantic PS5 Price Increases, Effective from April 2026

cainhurst94

@Shepherd_Tallon It's difficult to know the facts because we do not know how Sony procures the parts and what advantages they get from economies of scale. All we do know is the AI companies are paying huge premiums and buying ram and storage at unprecedented amounts. The pressure is being felt on the consumer and general electronics market.

The other major problem is with the recent geopolitical issue, Oil prices have shot up beyond covid levels. For example Iran hit a Qatari oil field. That unit will take 5 years to come back into production. These pressures are hitting the global economy all at once.

Re: Round Up: 'Already a GOTY Contender': 5 Things We Learned from Saros PS5 Previews

cainhurst94

@bossuche9 They seem confident so far in the game. I believe Saros costs the same as AW2 which is 50-70 million euros with marketing. Saros also seems to have a much smaller marketing budget since SoP marketing is free for Sony games and the rest of the marketing is basically Youtube videos.

I feel this is an Astro Bot situation where if it reaches 1.5-2 million in the first quarter and scores in the above 87-88 it'll be a success in Sony's eyes.

Re: 'It Wasn't a Live Service Game': Shuttered Sony Studio Teases Scrapped PS5 Project

cainhurst94

On one hand it is good that Playstation is cancelling games that don't show promise early on but OTOH some games come together really well later.

At the end of the day investment in American Gaming is dangerous with the ridiculous overheads. If Sony is funding projects smaller parts Europe or Asia are the correct direction for them.

Keep the existing American Studios and if they're good build them up internally to do multiple games like Insomniac.
