Re: Cancelled God of War PS5 Game Leaks in Screenshots

cainhurst94

@awp69 I know that. But again they specifically cited it as a reason that quarter was a massive success. Remember that game led to PS5s going out of stock on the official and black markets in China, HK and Taiwan. Tracking had 30% of those early 10 million units be on Playstation systems.

I'm not an idiot and never said it was first party. Just that it's success allowed Sony to avoid the massive losses that could've occurred that quarter. That 30% on each copy makes a difference and is how Playstation makes most of its money.

Re: Xbox Boss Believes Sony's Strategy of Console Exclusives Is 'Antiquated'

@Medic_alert I don't know how people overlook this all the time. This is why Playstation games always look that good and release that polished and can afford to take 5 years of development. They're meant to sell the entire ecosystem to the consumer. God of War Ragnarok is the kinda game people upgrade their consoles for even if they're on PS4.

Re: Sony's Increasing Power Over Anime Is Starting to Raise Some Eyebrows

This is just a mix of vertical and horizontal integration. You need music for your movie that sells tvs/subscriptions, you put your label that has musicians make music for it, you sell said music on apple/stream on Spotify and people listen to it with your idiotically named headphones.
This is literally why Sony bought Columbia Pictures or started Sony Music.

Re: Ghost of Yotei Is Sony's Biggest PS5 Launch Since Spider-Man 2 in Europe

Man, I now remember why I stopped visiting this site for a few months, the comments section is just the same 5 or 6 negative accounts getting upset every time Playstation has anything remotely successful

@Kidfunkadelic83 it reminds me more of RDR1 (a compliment) in that it all feels like a successful mix of gamey and immersive/cinematic. I feel RDR2 leaned too hard into immersion and sometimes it came at the cost of actual gameplay.

Re: Assassin's Creed Boss Leaves Ubisoft Just Weeks After Tencent's Development Reshuffle

cainhurst94

Probably saw it as the best opportunity to leave. This weird assumption that something went down is always so weird among gamers. He's tired and wants to work on something new is most likely especially after the Shadows abuse I don't blame him.

Look at Insomniacs former creative director who joined Microsoft people assume he left on bad terms but he's been praising Insomniac and posting Wolverine stuff since the re-reveal. Sometimes people just want to move on.

Re: PS6 Manufacturing Scheduled to Get Underway in Early 2027

cainhurst94

I just hope the rumors of a more cost efficient PS6 are true. The lack of hardware price cuts this gen has held a lot of people back from upgrading which lead to a longer adoption cycle. The PS5 barely being behind the PS4 at this point is extremely telling of a strong playerbase being there.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ghost of Yotei?

cainhurst94

It's a 9 so far. Reminds me of RDR1 where the open world just flows nicely. Where games like RDR2 prioritize immersion over making a good game, Yotei and RDR1 remember they're games first. So combat feels smooth, controller mapping feels snappy, quests are great. The story is well told even if it doesn't break new ground.

Re: People Don't Buy Anywhere Near As Many Games As You Think

cainhurst94

I think there are issues with how Piscatella has written this:
1. What's the definition of a 'new' game. Is it a game that came out this year? Is it any game in plastic wrapping? It's too vague
2. What's the average spend of a player? If you buy Call of Duty for example, how much is the average person spending on skins? Are they buying 20 dollar indies?

Personally I've bought around 8-10 games this year but I think I'm probably only going to get Metroid now.
Price is an issue for many but it thankfully hasn't been for me for a few years now.

With subscriptions like PS+ and Gamepass people always have options for games to play and usually always an excellent one in the catalog.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 601

cainhurst94

On Playstation it could only be Yotei which is magnificent so far and definitely a end of the year goty nominee. It all just feels and looks so good

On Nintendo Hades 2. This one I'm enjoying but a 94/100 is insanely overrated. The story is not great so far and the dialogue is so positive it makes Steven Universe look like it has more familial drama. What keeps me playing is the much better combat system. This game is tough and you actually have to think about spacing.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Getting Sick of Sony's Supposedly 'Samey' Approach to Story Telling?

cainhurst94

Game of the year nominees this year that will have Grief, sadness, revenge as main plots
Expedition 33
Hades 2
Death Stranding 2
Yotei

Probably the Oscar winner this year is also about that in One Battle After Another.

Revenge and grief are great storytelling. It's why they're so frequently used. We live in a world that's angry and broken so we get stories about angry and broken people.

Ign always chase click bait and even on YouTube they're getting burned alive by comments.

@Nexozi got a new Oled too a Sony Bravia A90k. It's so pretty going from Led to OLED.

Regarding the game. I completed the prologue. Sucker Punch still know how to get that great opening credits sequence. Ishii so far already giving a great performance too
