Man, I now remember why I stopped visiting this site for a few months, the comments section is just the same 5 or 6 negative accounts getting upset every time Playstation has anything remotely successful
@Kidfunkadelic83 it reminds me more of RDR1 (a compliment) in that it all feels like a successful mix of gamey and immersive/cinematic. I feel RDR2 leaned too hard into immersion and sometimes it came at the cost of actual gameplay.
Probably saw it as the best opportunity to leave. This weird assumption that something went down is always so weird among gamers. He's tired and wants to work on something new is most likely especially after the Shadows abuse I don't blame him.
Look at Insomniacs former creative director who joined Microsoft people assume he left on bad terms but he's been praising Insomniac and posting Wolverine stuff since the re-reveal. Sometimes people just want to move on.
Honestly ***** the fans. Especially the PS3 guys who cry about everything. Let them make what they want to make. I've always respected PS Studios being able to move on from franchises when they're bored or feel like they have no room left for it to improve.
I just hope the rumors of a more cost efficient PS6 are true. The lack of hardware price cuts this gen has held a lot of people back from upgrading which lead to a longer adoption cycle. The PS5 barely being behind the PS4 at this point is extremely telling of a strong playerbase being there.
@AverageGamer I think if there is one thing we've constantly read it's that third parties aren't doing too hot on the Switch 2, just like the Switch. Especially for online shooters, the Switch will be the worst place to play the game and no shooter fan would take a 720p30fps or 480p60fps version just for portability
It's a 9 so far. Reminds me of RDR1 where the open world just flows nicely. Where games like RDR2 prioritize immersion over making a good game, Yotei and RDR1 remember they're games first. So combat feels smooth, controller mapping feels snappy, quests are great. The story is well told even if it doesn't break new ground.
For a game in Japan to hit 100k and not be Nintendo, DQ or MH is insanely good. A WESTERN game doing that is even more insane. Congrats to Sucker Punch and Sony.
Also important to note that lock down boosts aren't there for games anymore either.
@Mostik overrated as a person who bought the Switch 2 for that game. I love DK and I love Mario Odyssey but the game got stale fast. Music is great though.
I think there are issues with how Piscatella has written this: 1. What's the definition of a 'new' game. Is it a game that came out this year? Is it any game in plastic wrapping? It's too vague 2. What's the average spend of a player? If you buy Call of Duty for example, how much is the average person spending on skins? Are they buying 20 dollar indies?
Personally I've bought around 8-10 games this year but I think I'm probably only going to get Metroid now. Price is an issue for many but it thankfully hasn't been for me for a few years now.
With subscriptions like PS+ and Gamepass people always have options for games to play and usually always an excellent one in the catalog.
I'm still curious to see if the Switch 2 can sustain the launch. After Pokémon they have no heavy hitters (Metroid will always be a D list Ninty title commercially) and third parties aren't really carrying the console with underwhelming attach rates.
Either way I expect PS5 console sales to be down until GTA VI now.
On Playstation it could only be Yotei which is magnificent so far and definitely a end of the year goty nominee. It all just feels and looks so good
On Nintendo Hades 2. This one I'm enjoying but a 94/100 is insanely overrated. The story is not great so far and the dialogue is so positive it makes Steven Universe look like it has more familial drama. What keeps me playing is the much better combat system. This game is tough and you actually have to think about spacing.
If Horizon Forbidden West lost 100 million in estimated revenue going on Plus one year after launch, I cannot imagine how much Xbox has actually bled on day one subscription games when taking out fancy accounting.
The biggest idiots are the CWA who took Microsoft at their word and supported the deal giving it the illusion of legitimacy. Any union that gets too big inevitably gets corrupted.
Game of the year nominees this year that will have Grief, sadness, revenge as main plots Expedition 33 Hades 2 Death Stranding 2 Yotei
Probably the Oscar winner this year is also about that in One Battle After Another.
Revenge and grief are great storytelling. It's why they're so frequently used. We live in a world that's angry and broken so we get stories about angry and broken people.
Ign always chase click bait and even on YouTube they're getting burned alive by comments.
@Nexozi got a new Oled too a Sony Bravia A90k. It's so pretty going from Led to OLED.
Regarding the game. I completed the prologue. Sucker Punch still know how to get that great opening credits sequence. Ishii so far already giving a great performance too
@CWill97 my brother has one and I played Guardians of the Galaxy and Plague Tale 2 while catsitting on the Xbox Series S. It changed things man! The colors and contrast are so good.
1. They had gore. 2. Liam McIntyre sounds great 3. Faces are quite visibly improved 4. Combat looks fluid 5. Setpieces looked good 6. It's Insomniac they've rarely disappointed 7. They withstood the pressure and leaks and came out with full confidence on their terms. Nothing sells a game better than a confident dev team.
@Oram77 if only they listened to criticism of the character designs I think the game could've had a real shot. But man those characters were forgettable as heck.
@Czar_Khastik Sega/Atlus fans are conditioned to buying games multiple times and defending it at this point. It's upsetting but Sega are consistently rewarded for this nonsense.
Sega weren't kidding when they said they were going to make Yakuza, Persona and Sonic annual franchises. Do have to question if they're going to inevitably saturate the brand.
It seems like the same 2-3 million players who buy the game are locked in though.
@Questionable_Duck that's fair. I personally loved The Last Guardian because it was so finicky that in the late game it really did feel like the player and Trico understood each other. Also the whole end sequence made me cry a lot.
Hideo Kojima the influencer is a very weird turn which I didn't expect 10-12 years back. The Sake, the credit cards etc. They're all very weird and don't make sense but I will say he's smart to leverage his personal celebrity status to get other supplementary sources of income since game dev is a long process.
Looks good but I don't know why the eyes look kinda weird. It's something I've noticed in a lot of High Fidelity Unreal Engine 5 games where eyes look too shiny/reflective.
Rest of it? Looks very very interesting which means it'll be scary.
I wonder how they intend to use Cloud technology or if that's been scrapped. Also what Kojima meant by calling it a 'visual experience'. Something like the Matrix UE5 demo?
@dancingstar93 Love Gematsu for their updates on games and announcements. Hate everything else. Toxic and nasty.
@Enuo I agree. Preorders are still incredibly strong from what I can see on the Playstation store. Any score above 86 and the game will be a hit (with embargo lifting so early SIE are very confident)
Great. Want to see SAROS with release date/window, God of Vania with release date/window, Tokon character reveals and Wolverine with release year 2026! If they can add some Intergalactic, that'll be ace.
Really excited by all the first party single player games in the pipeline. SAROS, Intergalactic, Yotei, wolverine. All sound incredible.
I think ND without Hennig has never been better. The gameplay is better than ever, the narratives bolder and more interesting. I am curious about that Marvel game though. Seems like it's in some development problem.
@UltimateOtaku91 their big AAA games flopped because Square doesn't know how to budget their games. Their small innovative titles flopped because Square doesn't know how to create a good name or marketing campaign.
@SeaDaVie Also forgetting the pandemic existed and the film industry was saying the theater experience was gonna go extinct. Sony and Paramount were the few companies that actually still supported theatrical with Uncharted, Spider-Man and top gun maverick.
I was talking to my brother about this and animation is probably the most hit or miss industry in movies and TV. Sony would've probably needed theatrical to make 250 million to be successful. A new IP making that much post pandemic? It would've been difficult.
Most of K-pops success is because it came on Netflix first where it was free for subscribers and had no real marketing.
@DennisReynolds I remember the incredibly positive reception the betas for Monster Hunter got. A live service can only be judged two-three months after release.
Halo Infinite suffered despite incredible launch reception (10 million players or something).
Is it a free beta. Than we can ignore it. Gamers love free *****. Let's look at the numbers 3-4 months after launch before we call a live service a success
Let's see if EA fires people before we call it a success. Remember DAV having the highest concurrents at launch for a Dragon Age game.
I feel having his own studio means he's much faster in making his plans with Konami it wasn't his IP so he could faff around and delay games but with his own IP he has to be focused which is a good thing.
Thank god Sony focuses on people who aren't on forums for their main games. This looks great and I'm all for a sequel that expands the combat and exploration rather than re-inventing the wheel (remember it's only been in deevelopment for 3-4 years considering how much they supported Tsushima)

Re: 'Told You So': Ex-FTC Chair Lina Khan Is Having the Last Laugh Over Xbox's Activision Acquisition
