I'm open minded about a new console and there's a good chance I'll want to be there on day one, but it's all about the games of course. If Sony can give us a sense that they're playing to their strengths, then I'll be there. Feel like they lost their way for a bit with the PS5 and almost didn't know which direction to head.
I'm in no rush for it, but the timing makes sense I guess. Whether I buy day one will always depend on launch titles. Probably wouldn't have bought a PS5 at launch if not for Demon Souls, which actually probably is still my #1 PS5 title today. It was so, so good and entirely justified the console for me.
It really is upsetting to see this news. Loved Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash even more so - in fact I think it might be one of my all-time favourites. Hope the affected devs land on their feet and I’ll hopefully pick up Possessors day one to support the studio.
As a very casual player of such games, the roster is definitely key for me. Was always able to play loads of Marvel vs Capcom 2 because the roster was enormous, loved trying out different combos of characters and seeing what they could do. If this is truly limited to 16 characters then I'd need to be interested in ranking up online and trying to be competitive, which I'm not. Really want to love this game but also trying to be pragmatic and see it for what it is.
There’s a part of me that actually kinda applauds the move, because it did seem like an insane deal to offer so many day 1 games and I’m of the opinion that it was actively harming the industry by devaluing the games it was so readily giving away. Felt like we were on a similar trajectory to Spotify, which has irreparably harmed the music industry.
I won’t subscribe to a service that expensive personally, but I’m also OK with actually buying the games I want to play. It’ll be fascinating to see if it results in more revenue for devs releasing on Xbox than before. I really hope it does.
Nothing that interested me until Wolverine at the very end, a lot of very generic looking things for the most part. Even then, I wouldn’t say I was blown away by the Wolverine trailer the same way I was when they first revealed Spider-Man, but I trust Insomniac to deliver where it counts!
Glad folks are excited for this, but it does baffle me a little bit. I thought the beta was awful and not a patch on Transformed in any possible area. Heck, I'd sooner play that free Disney kart racer than this. Ah well, still nice to see a demo come out.
Casually keeping an eye on the game but don't think I'll watch this live. Maybe later. Just can't help but wish for another Uncharted every time I see something like this. I know they're not directly comparable really but that's the itch I want to scratch. Would love a demo though so hopefully that might be announced?
Been playing a bunch over the weekend and unfortunately, I hate it. I had really high hopes but there’s almost nothing I enjoy. There’s a lot of detail I could go into but ultimately, a lot could be summed up by “too much going on”. It’s super cluttered in every sense, from visuals to gameplay mechanics and audio. Feels messy and doesn’t hit the right nostalgia buttons for me so I’ll be going back to Transformed on PC instead. What a shame.
@Blauwe_Chimay nah, they’re only 6 and 4 so it’s a bit above them. Have thought about it though and tempted to give it a try one day, though sims aren’t normally my thing.
He’s right - you only have to look at the state of the industry on LinkedIn where countless people are constantly being made redundant. It’s a mess out there and the industry is permanently losing talent as folks switch to more secure opportunities.
The only bit I disagree with is the idea that the music industry makes up for the likes of Spotify with touring - when the reality is that this doesn’t cut it either and being a pro musician these days is a really hard thing to do. Lots of artists are making a loss with touring now too and need to make up for it with other commercial ventures and merch sales.
I for one would be glad to see the back of the GamesPass subscription model. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to chuck in a few rotating games as part of an online sub that covers a few core features, like NSO and PS Plus, but Game Pass is a step too far and it’s very dangerous to the health of the industry.
Bit late now surely? Really enjoyed the game but can’t imagine going back for another go and expect most folks that were interested have played it already.
In theory I’d be super up for this, but…it’s Bethesda and I don’t tend to enjoy their games. If it gets confirmed I’ll have to watch a bunch of videos and think about it.
Lots of X-Men, pls. Would love to see Gambit, Cyclops, Rogue, Magneto and Juggernaut especially. Outside of those, Silver Surfer would be super cool and unique.
First fighting game I’ve been excited for in a while. I’m super casual so unlikely to ever play online - this is for me and my wife to play very low stakes button mashing, so all we’d want is for it to look good, be relatively approachable in terms of controls/systems and have a good roster of characters.
When the video started I have to admit I thought “nah, these look completely different” but skipping ahead, yeah it’s very blatant. You could drop Aloy into that game world or vice versa and you wouldn’t know it wasn’t the same game. Mechanics are very different but ambience, art style, environments, tech etc are almost identical. Interesting to see if any relationships are hurt here as I believe the two companies have several investments in common, such as Epic Games.
Lack of backwards compatibility and price were the two main factors that stopped me tbh. And honestly, these days I forgot it was even there as Sony’s general output is clearly reduced in tougher market conditions. I would have been tempted eventually if the momentum kept going but I just wasn’t in a position to be an early adopter at the time. I’ve still never tried VR and would love to, but from all accounts Meta seems to be the way to go if you can only get one.
I've always maintained that it's one of the best games I've ever played, but I have absolutely no desire to ever do it again. Superb but so, so bleak. The original I find easier to go back to, which is why I would label that one a masterpiece and this one just shy of that. I'll be absolutely on board if they ever do a third and would be fascinated to see where they go with it, but also a little nervous. I can't imagine how it could get any more depressing and I'm not sure I have the resilience for it if it does!
Surprised to see the mixed reviews on this, loved the base game and figured the DLC was an auto win. I’ll probably still buy it as it’s so cheap, but I’ll be going in with relatively modest expectations to avoid disappointment.
Said it after the initial stream but honestly, probably the best State of Play I can remember. Sword of the Sea also deserves a mention - Giant Squid's games are almost always defining experiences for my tastes and it looks like a beautiful mashup of their best ideas. And Marvel Tokon cannot come soon enough, good lord. Romeo is a Deadman looks like Suda51 back to his best and Silent Hill F looks like a genuinely fresh take on the series that also stirs the part of me that keeps wishing for a properly new Project Zero / Fatal Frame. Glorious.
Best in a long time. Almost top tier, almost. No complaints here, can’t remember the last time I was excited for so much stuff in one of these livestreams! Well done Sony.
Best State of Play in a long, long time if you ask me. So many things in excited for in there. Marvel Tokon being my personal highlight - a genuine “WAIT WHAT” moment and I absolutely cannot wait to play it. Day one for sure and I will buy the highest priced version of it. Bravo Sony!
Nothing about this sounds appealing to me at all. Bit gutted as I absolutely adore the other Soulsbornes. Hopefully there’ll be another proper entry before too long.
Have to admit I’m kinda regretting buying it, just not enjoying it as much as I thought I would, I think because of the open world mechanics. Would sooner play a 60fps port of Driveclub.
New to the series and been playing it for a few days, and honestly...kinda underwhelmed. It looks nice but it's so, so confusiong and the story element is just AWFUL. Frequently find myself wishing for a much simpler game. Just feels like I'm aimlessy wandering around before being roped into an event or novelty race that I have no interest in being a part of. And then I have to put up with the awful voice acting through this forced plot thing. Just weird. I'll keep trying it but right now I can imagine uninstalling by the end of the week. I miss Driveclub.

@8thDoctor Oh gosh, if only. I think I’d actually cry tears of joy.
Whatever they’re working on, I’ll be interested.

Re: Just What Is Going on with Sony and Indie Dev Giant Squid?
As long as Giant Squid keep doing what they do, I’m happy. Love their games and will always be there day 1 wherever I can.

I’d be interested, I was underwhelmed by Horizon 5 but love Japan which might make up for the things I didn’t like.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gets Pac-Man DLC, Open Beta Test Next Week on PS5
I’m still cautiously optimistic, looking forward to trying the beta. But Kirby Air Riders looks awesome so this needs to hit the right notes.
