When the video started I have to admit I thought “nah, these look completely different” but skipping ahead, yeah it’s very blatant. You could drop Aloy into that game world or vice versa and you wouldn’t know it wasn’t the same game. Mechanics are very different but ambience, art style, environments, tech etc are almost identical. Interesting to see if any relationships are hurt here as I believe the two companies have several investments in common, such as Epic Games.
Lack of backwards compatibility and price were the two main factors that stopped me tbh. And honestly, these days I forgot it was even there as Sony’s general output is clearly reduced in tougher market conditions. I would have been tempted eventually if the momentum kept going but I just wasn’t in a position to be an early adopter at the time. I’ve still never tried VR and would love to, but from all accounts Meta seems to be the way to go if you can only get one.
I've always maintained that it's one of the best games I've ever played, but I have absolutely no desire to ever do it again. Superb but so, so bleak. The original I find easier to go back to, which is why I would label that one a masterpiece and this one just shy of that. I'll be absolutely on board if they ever do a third and would be fascinated to see where they go with it, but also a little nervous. I can't imagine how it could get any more depressing and I'm not sure I have the resilience for it if it does!
Surprised to see the mixed reviews on this, loved the base game and figured the DLC was an auto win. I’ll probably still buy it as it’s so cheap, but I’ll be going in with relatively modest expectations to avoid disappointment.
Said it after the initial stream but honestly, probably the best State of Play I can remember. Sword of the Sea also deserves a mention - Giant Squid's games are almost always defining experiences for my tastes and it looks like a beautiful mashup of their best ideas. And Marvel Tokon cannot come soon enough, good lord. Romeo is a Deadman looks like Suda51 back to his best and Silent Hill F looks like a genuinely fresh take on the series that also stirs the part of me that keeps wishing for a properly new Project Zero / Fatal Frame. Glorious.
Best in a long time. Almost top tier, almost. No complaints here, can’t remember the last time I was excited for so much stuff in one of these livestreams! Well done Sony.
Best State of Play in a long, long time if you ask me. So many things in excited for in there. Marvel Tokon being my personal highlight - a genuine “WAIT WHAT” moment and I absolutely cannot wait to play it. Day one for sure and I will buy the highest priced version of it. Bravo Sony!
Nothing about this sounds appealing to me at all. Bit gutted as I absolutely adore the other Soulsbornes. Hopefully there’ll be another proper entry before too long.
Have to admit I’m kinda regretting buying it, just not enjoying it as much as I thought I would, I think because of the open world mechanics. Would sooner play a 60fps port of Driveclub.
New to the series and been playing it for a few days, and honestly...kinda underwhelmed. It looks nice but it's so, so confusiong and the story element is just AWFUL. Frequently find myself wishing for a much simpler game. Just feels like I'm aimlessy wandering around before being roped into an event or novelty race that I have no interest in being a part of. And then I have to put up with the awful voice acting through this forced plot thing. Just weird. I'll keep trying it but right now I can imagine uninstalling by the end of the week. I miss Driveclub.
So glad it’s good, very excited to pick it up but my kids are very into racing at the moment so am playing Forza early access with them at the moment. Top of my list for after that though!
@Vladspartan What were Sony thinking, trying to make a games machine a little more…fun?
While we’re at it - hey home stores! Quit putting pictures, patterns and colours on my duvets! They’re for sleeping, so I can’t even see them anyway! You’re just printing them to make me spend more money, and IT NEEDS TO STOP.
Curse this life of rabid consumerism. Curse it I say!
Ugh, I need to go back to bed, in my stupid patterned bedsheets.
Haven’t played it before, but no Bethesda game has ever lived up to the hype for me (Skyrim, Fallout 4, Dishonored), but will check out the announcement and happy for those that are excited!
The trouble is, this to me seems like less than Destiny, art dialed up, gameplay dialed back. So I can’t imagine that the destiny fambase will switch over that readily. But maybe it’s for a different crowd?
Love love love the art style, and you know the gunplay will be top tier. But I just don’t think I want to pay an PVP extraction shooter, at all. Nothing about the premise appeals. If it was PvE I’d be all over it.
It’s a hard pill to swallow. I understand that times are tough in games but I’ve been made redundant from my last two jobs, and am now looking at positions almost half of the salary I had 3 years ago. Same work, less pay. Ultimately it means I’ll buy less games, or focus on indies which are much more keenly priced.
I don’t really care one way or the other whether they release it a hundred times. Loved both games and will be there for number 3 if/when it happens, but I won’t be picking them up again personally. For anyone that hasn’t played them though, makes sense to have a latest or complete edition for them to pick up.
Still one of my favourite ever games, up there with the very best PlayStation exclusives. Would love a sequel, remaster or anything they’d throw our way.
No interest at all, have never enjoyed a single Bethesda game after many attempts and I don’t think this will be the one. Far too many other quality games to consider.
People are weird, and gamers even more so at times. Trailer looked rad, can’t wait to see more.
Anyone that doesn’t like it is welcome to go play any of the thousands of other games in development without brandishing their prejudices like a peacock that’s packing faeces in place of feathers.
Thought it was OK. The claymation horror thing and Ghost of Yotei were nice surprises, and I'm super excited that Soul Reaver is back. Can't say the rest got my pulse racing though.
Looks promising so far! Netflix have generally been on point with their animated series (Castlevania being a prime example) so I'm cautiously optimistic.
@Northern_munkey yeah I’d agree with that, very well put.
My only concern is what it potentially means for PS6, admittedly a fair ways down the road - will we be returning to a base level that console gamers are more accustomed to, or are Sony going to push for the best tech they can at this new price point and hope the PS5 Pro has taken the shock of that price tag away? Time will tell but it makes me wonder if that might be a bad omen for more casual fans.
I dunno, I feel like folks are being a little harsh. Most live service games have significant issues when they launch. Bungie have been going through tough times both financially and reputationally, so honestly it must be a nightmare for whoever's job it is to keep the lights on (server wise, I mean) when the company's resources are probably being stretched as thinly as they can possibly get away with.
It's one day into the launch, folks just need to chill a bit and let the thing settle rather than branding everyone at the developer a moron. It's so infantile.
Anyways, not trying to 100% absolve them of blame or anything and not even sure why I care exactly - haven't played Destiny in a long, long time. Just a bit sick of all the negativity in games.
Yay for more Astro Bot! Other than that, I wasn't impressed in all honesty. With the Elden Ring DLC on the way I just can't get particularly excited for other Soulslikes.
@Almost_Ghostly Im not really a fan of games that use “jiggle physics” to excite a bunch of nerds. I could maybe ignore it but the fact that said manbabies are arguing with each other over the internet about it makes it even less appealing. That’s the shame - a good game that would have been every bit as good without all of this going on, which I don’t want to be associated with. And no, it’s not my loss - there’s literally too many excellent games out there to play and this one doesn’t make the grade because of those reasons. I’m not the one missing out.
Aaaaand this kind of discourse is why I will sadly be avoiding an otherwise seemingly excellent game. Just a big “nah”. Shame. Either way, hope those who pick up the game enjoy it and those who feel the need to actually petition developers over this manage to find something better to do with their time.
It sounds like it’s great fun mechanically but I get the feeling not to expect much from the story, which is a bit of a shame. More likely I’ll pick up something else. Still, know how long people have been waiting for this and hope they have fun with it!

Intrigued to see what they do with it - the original was superb and I’m definitely up for revisiting it.

Very much on board, but haven’t played the original yet, so it’ll be a little ways off for me. Looks great though!
Re: Hot Shots Golf Fans Fume at Use of Generative AI in PS5 Revival
Disappointing news, but from the earlier trailer I wasn’t interested anyway to be honest so I won’t lose sleep over it.
