It's official: Gods & Monsters, the open world action title from the team behind Assassin's Creed Odyssey, is now called Immortals: Fenyx Rising. For now we'll resist the temptation to rant about how terrible that name is.
The game was announced at E3 last year, but we've seen next to nothing of the project since. Fortunately, Ubisoft has confirmed that Immortals: Fenyx Rising (ugh!) will be shown during its upcoming Ubisoft Forward livestream, which is set to take place on the 10th September. It'll be interesting to see how much things have changed over the last 12 months.
Are you looking forward to seeing more of Immortals: Fenyx Rising? Try to get over that name in the comments section below.

I'd be shocked if this was still coming out this year.
Gods and Monsters is an awesome name, dumb move to change it.
Another title with a colon!
The original title was way better...
That name sounds like a Cereal with a NEW LIMITED EDITION FLAVOR
Immortal the video games.not to be confused with immortals 2011 movie.that fenyx rising sounds weird.gods and monters was the better name.cant wait for The gameplay.word up son
I much preferred the old name : / Weird choice to swap it.
I like the name ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
@Tchunga ๐๐ช go.
The original name wasn't great (unoriginal) but this name is terrible!! Sounds like a JRPG!
Looks like they missed that February 2020 release date by a smidge.
Whats next always online and ofcourse liveservice with a MT in the mainmenu ofcourse.
Gods And Monsters was such a powerful and dramatic sounding title compared to the new title!
Regardless this will be a Day One buy despite only seeing one teaser since it was announced.
@Wazeddie22 Exactly, I really loved Gods & Monster! Easy to remember but very evocative.
Immortals Fenyx Rising (yep, it officially has no colon, please, just to make it even more confusing) sounds like a bad mobile game
The mighty mythological beast that is the Phoenix should never be spelled Fenyx!
To every spelling bee out there, to every purist of the Greek Language, to every lover of the Greco-Roman mythology, please rise up! (pun intended!)
Gods & Monsters kinda felt like a classic game. It has a ring to it, like Dungeons & Dragons. Ubisoft dropped the ball with this new name, kinda awful.
So this game got delayed along with a few others at Ubisoft in a bid to help each game to feel more unique and fresh rather than the samey-ubisoft-sameyness of their recent games.
And I should add that I really enjoyed AC Odyssey, and this game is being developed by the same team so I am genuinely looking forward to this game.
But it kinda would be hilarious that in all that extra time, when it finally came to showing what was new to the higher-ups, the Devs were papping themselves as nothing had really changed with the game.
And so, with about 5 minutes to go before going into the board meeting, Zayn, who nobody's really sure what he does in the office - and whom appears to be perpetually stoned, pipes up and just loudly proclaims the words, "Immortals: Phoenix Rising," to which the room stays silent.
After a few uncomfortable seconds a second wave of ingenuity hits him, and he then adds with a confidence reserved only for a Steve Jobs ready to unveil the iPhone, "but Phoenix is spelled F. E. N. Y. X," to which the entire Dev team stand up and applaud...
And that's how games are made, peeps!
It wasn't broke...
@Icey664 From the source: ''as well as a much-anticipated update on our new IP, Immortals Fenyx Rising, formerly known as Gods & Monsters''
THERE IS NO COLON!?!
What's up with this PushSquare colon conspiracy?
@Shogunrok care to explain?
Gods & monsters is way cooler name.
That's a terrible name. Gods and Monsters may sound kinda generic, but it gets the point across. Like Dungeons and Dragons. "Fenyx" sounds like a name I'd think up for an edgy original character when I was at the age of 13. You could just name it Rising Immortals, or Immortals' Rise and I'd be content.
Well....I WAS really excited about the game, based on what we saw last year. Now, who knows. I guess we'll find out.
@HotGoomba Aight, I'ma head out
The old name told you what to expect ๐ They could have at least spelt Phoenix the right way lol
Maybe Gods and Beasts or:
Gods and cans of drink
