As part of a wider story on Sony’s decision to pullback PC ports of its single player games, it seems planned versions of Saros and Ghost of Yotei have been scrapped.

While the former isn’t even out on PS5 yet and was likely up to a year away, it’s possible Sucker Punch’s sequel – which originally released last year, on 2nd October – may have launched on storefronts like Steam at some point after the summer.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier says PlayStation pulled the plug on all of these first-party ports within the last few weeks, so it’s a relatively recent strategy change.

We still don’t really know the reason behind its decision, but it sounds like sales haven’t been meeting expectations, and the platform holder wants to put its own hardware first. After all, exclusives exist to attract players to an ecosystem, where the bulk of a manufacturer’s money is made.

Sony has been registering record revenues this generation, with the PS5 generating more money than all of its previous consoles combined. But that’s all occurring within the boundaries of its own walled garden, with its PC ports representing as little as 1.5% of its overall income since the strategy started in earnest.

It means if you want to play Saros, Ghost of Yotei, or any other upcoming single player games – like Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet or Marvel’s Wolverine – you’re probably going to need a PS5 to do so.
