In case you forgot, Ghost of Yotei Legends is out tomorrow, 10th March 2026, and it sounds like developer Sucker Punch has put its all into this multiplayer expansion.
Much like the Legends DLC for Ghost of Tsushima, this will be available to all owners of the game for free — which is pretty crazy when you consider everything you're getting.
One interesting tidbit about the production of Legends is that it's been in the works right alongside the main game.
"We were reacting and responding and pulling the systems in, figuring out how they would work in a multiplayer context," says lead designer Darren Bridges on PS Blog. As work on the main game was drying up, the team gradually migrated to Legends, which creates "really rapid escalation and improvement".

Ghost of Yotei Legends is essentially a "retelling" of the main game's story, only through a fantastical, mythical lens.
Each of the Yotei Six are represented as larger-than-life boss characters. "Instead of fighting powerful warlords, you’re fighting 15-foot demonic bosses," Bridges says. "It makes enemies a suitable challenge for multiple players."
As well as the bosses, you'll have to deal with their underlings and mini-bosses, which are themed around the bosses they fight for. "So for example, the Kitsune has an elite soldier called the Snow Woman, who has frost and cold abilities."

There are several different classes to play as, and while they all specialise in particular weapons and have skill trees related to them, you can swap in your favourite weapons instead.
The PS Blog post confirms that every mission in Legends is replayable, and the difficulty level you choose determines the rewards and XP you get for beating them. You can make things as easy or hard as you like, changing your gear to match, exceed, or even fall short of recommended gear levels.
Legends will have a whole bunch of cosmetics and other unlocks, and the best part is that it's all unlockable just by playing the game; there are no season passes or additional purchases. Bridges says it's all "available for Ghost of Yotei owners at no additional cost. So all of this is unlocked just through gameplay."

There are Story missions, Incursion missions, and Survival missions, each offering slightly different objectives. These will deal with four of the Yotei Six, with the remaining two being lumped together in a Raid, which will arrive in Legends post-launch.
This sounds like a real toughie, with four players required. "The rest of the Legends missions are co-optional," says Bridges. "We provide opportunities for you to work together, but we don’t ever want to make it a blocker. This though? This is for four players. Mark my words. You cannot win without four players."
Sounds like a challenge to us.

On top of all this, the lobby is more involved this time around. You're able to challenge other players to a bamboo cutting minigame, as well as take them on in Zeni Hajiki, the coin flicking game from Yotei proper.
It really does sound like a massive expansion (one they could easily have charged for), and given that Tsushima Legends was a fantastic add-on, we've no doubt this one will be too.

Hoho loved the first Legends so I will for sure be giving this a go!
This sounds amazing! Sucker Punch has gone above and beyond!
The first Legends was one of the very rare live service offerings I put a significant amount of time into with friends, and I'm sure this version of it will be really fun too. Legends is what Last of Us Online should have been imo
Sounds great! I unfortunately never got around to trying the raid in the original but I hope to get the chance to try it this time around.
It's honestly kind of insane that there are no microtransactions or anything for this mode...not that I'm complaining! Good on you Sucker Punch.
Don't care for that mode but can't wait for the first DLC. Will get the digital version in a sale then (sold my physical after 6 months)
Not really into multiplayer but might give this a go.
If they’re planning on releasing single-player DLC I’ll definitely be interested.
@get2sammyb If something ever happens to Sucker Punch Imma crash out hard
Props to Sucker Punch for developing this multiplayer mode with everything available to all players through gameplay.
Can't wait to jump in tomorrow!
Amazing this is what you get from developers with passion thank you sucker punch
@Yapzehemnem I cant unsee your photo 😆 🤣
It’s like there’s two internal ethos’ vying for power within Sony—one wants to make magnificent single player masterpieces with flawless trophy lists while the other wants to make multiplayer slop and make the trophies as tedious and difficult as possible. Since they can’t decide, they combine both thought processes.
I’ll just wait for people to post guides for the fastest route to 100% Legends trophy completion so I can get it out of the way and never play this abysmal crap ever again.
