Capcom’s awesome 2019 remake of 1998’s Resident Evil 2 is one of the best PS5 and PS4 games in recent memory.
But now it’s getting a third adaptation, courtesy of Bandai Namco.
This new version of the all-time classic will be available in arcades, and is being redesigned as a rails shooter-style experience.
The state-of-the-art cabinet will include all the contemporary bells-and-whistles, including 3D audio, floor vibration, and air blasts. Combined with cutting-edge lightguns, these promise to bring the immersion of the Raccoon City Police Department to life.
Location testing is expected to get underway in Japan later this month, and you can check out a trailer above. In it, we get a glimpse of iconic enemies, like Mr. X.
The game will support full two-player co-op, so unlike in the original, protagonists Leon and Claire will be fighting together rather than separately here.
It’s cool to see a new lightgun game in the Resident Evil franchise revealed, as fans will recall the series has a strong history of rails shooters, specifically with the Survivor titles on PS1 and PS2.
Unfortunately, we wouldn’t expect this to ever release outside of arcades, so you may have to do some hunting if you hope to one day play it.
