This is 3 (admittedly old) games in one package, so maybe the value for money put on some extra marks.

@SteveZ85 Loved Clerks, Mall Rats and Chasing Amy. Thought he kinda lost it a bit at Dogma, but then Clerks 2 was awesome. Smith has always been a terrible director though when it comes to composing shots. I was born in '76. RESPECT ME!

Jeeeeeezzz... Maybe gaming websites should drop point scales and just go with 'good' or 'bad'. Then you can work out your own damn scores.

@fluggy I don't get this. It's a 10 point scale. 5 is average. 8 is great! Whilst Insomniac set out to do everything they intended, maybe the original design just wasn't ambitious. It doesn't sound like it's iterating on the previous games in any significant way, so a flawless 8 sounds reasonable.

Can confirm still juice in the tank even after it hits zero.

I didn't know the 20 - 80% rule about modern batteries, so thanks to those who have mentioned it. I was still of the old school drain it till it's dead viewpoint, but now I know better!

@sanderson72 Rhetorical question, mate, as the answer is fairly obvious. As you say yourself, the practice was false advertising back then (I grew up in a speccy family) so why should it be okay now?

Obviously, I'm being slightly histrionic as there's a long way to go before release and there will be PS4 gameplay videos, but they should at least have shown some PS4 gameplay alongside the PS5 footage.

At the moment they are purely showing it as a PS5 product (of course, they want to sell PS5s, though demand does not seem to be a problem), whilst also saying it's a PS4 game first. The choice not to show any PS4 gameplay is telling. I wonder if they've had to dial down the environmental detail and clutter back to HZD levels, thus making it a much less immediately impressive product. I'm very curious as to how it will look on PS4.

Yeah, I do remember those days. Pleased to meet another old fogey! If I recall, a few speccy games made it to back covers; R-Type and Dan Dare did have speccy pics on their boxes, I think. Though Dan Dare may have been Speccy only? My memories shoddy. I do remember being stupidly excited, like ridiculously so, for R-Type though.

If this game was developed on a PS4, it should have been showcased on the PS4. Obviously, it will be to an acceptable standard as PS4 is the lead platform, so it should be fine, right? Why focus on PS5 footage if most of your customers will be playing on PS4? More confused messages from Sony.

Isn't Kena also an impressive looking game made by a small team? Maybe, as we expect of Kena, this is a shorter experience.

This State of Play will definitely infom my decision as to whether I sell my PS5 or lug it half way around the world with me in a few months.

I've never played VF. What's the button set up and are specials done with d-pad movements, a la Street Fighter, or button sequences, as in Tekken?

Seriously though, happy with Squadrons. Got it on PC, but would rather play against other people using a gamepad (laptop owner).

For those asking for a Left for Dead 3, it's unlikely. But Back 4 Blood is Left for Dead 3 in all but name and out soon. I believe it's made by the same people who made L4D 1 and 2.

I'm keeping in mind the hype over what the PS5 could do. I'll believe those specs when I see it.

I love a good bit of alliteration, me, and that's a darn fine example. Could only be improved by the use of 'schematic' instead of blueprint.

I started out sad I'd missed the article being posted until the update, then ended up not caring by the articles end.

Now I'm off to read that review. I do enjoy a good shoeing every now and then!

@velio84 I tried Nioh 2. I agree, the combat is great, but the environments are very drab and the loot game is just ridiculous! Was the first better in that regard?

@OmegaStriver Some more wildly varied guns wouldn't go amiss true, but I think it's structurally a sound roguelite.

I'd say an 8, but to me an 8 IS a great score.

It's a game of incredible highs and frustrating lows, but absolutely a fantastic game.

... That I'll probably never get to finish.

So many issues over the past few days. My third install seems alright though, so fingers crossed for this update. Be nice if they sorted out the online element.

@Marquez Somehow, and I'm not sure how, I managed to beat bosses 1, 2 and 3 on the first try! I must have been in the zone or something, as both bosses 1 and 2 have spanked me multiple times since.

I'm curious, PushSquare. What separates a min review from a full blown review? Is it purely word count on the article? Is it based on number of hours played or if it was completed? I think the mini reviews are great, just curious about their gestation.

This seems a bit weird. I mean, revision of a consoles internal parts is quite common, but to switch to a whole new fabrication process... I don't quite see that cutting down on production issues. Yes, you have less demand for 7mm wafers, but have to set up a 6mm fab process, presumably using the same materials. It will help with thermals and power draw, but I don't see it ameliorating the supply shortage at all.

EDIT: to join the topic in the comments; no coil whine (phew), but the disk drive is very loud when booting up or inserting a PS5 disc.

EDIT: just 'cuz. It's kinda fun to put your dualsense on a semi hard surface (say, the arm of a sofa as one takes a break from getting ass kicked in Returnal to roll up) and hear the sounds made by the haptics going mad!

Yup. Game wouldn't start after the update. Had to reinstall. Downloaded my cloud save and played without updating and I've still got meta-progress items, but have lost my ether and extra consumable slot. The initial updates have just downloaded again, but it's late. Worst comes to the worst I'd only got to the third biome (I'm the worst), so not much lost for me.

But... This is a joke.

The new update just got installed and now the game won't start. At all. Error CE-107622-8. Gonna have to reinstall.

@thefourfoldroot It's not affecting just the one game. I've had crashes on 3 separate games now. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the CP2077 crashes were systems based too. I think the OS wasn't ready for release.
