Re: Soapbox: The Real Problem with Sony's State of Play Livestreams

PossibLeigh

@thefourfoldroot I kinda get what Sammy means. It's like the left and right hand are not communicating. For example, why was the PSVR announcement a separate thing and not mentioned in the state of play? Sure, you could say it was a software only presentation, but why weren't March's PS+ games mentioned? No Ratchet and Clank gameplay demo. Another Bond like Deathloop trailer (seriously, I love Arkane, but just go make a film already) and one new game. It's like whichever dept is responsible for the SoP is only in comms with half of Sony.

I've already played through FF7R, don't have VR and have played Remenant (okay, but didn't really grab me. Too drab), so for me, personally, this month sucks. I was hoping for Disco Elysium. Oh well. Enjoy FF7R, all you who haven't played it! Maquette looks cool though.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About PS4 Exclusives Being Ported to PC?

@wiiware I have a suspicion that Sony might be a bit worried about Gamepass. MS are playing the long game and GP is a very attractive prospect. The fact that PS+ has been so great recently also points to this. If this month's games are just as great to me that says Sony are trying to hold our attention whilst scrambling to sort out a more substantial sub offering in the near future as a GP competitor.

I don't think we need to worry about new PS games releasing on PC at the same time. Not this gen, anyway.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About PS4 Exclusives Being Ported to PC?

@Col_McCafferty I can understand that concern, but I think the only scenario in which Sony would put a game out simultaneously on multiple platforms was if they pulled a Sega and got out of hardware all together. As a hardware seller, yes, it would be a bad idea for them to cross-release, but it's never gonna happen, so no need to worry about it.

However, I've been wrong before, so, for the next five years or so, I'll keep a hat nearby at all times.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About PS4 Exclusives Being Ported to PC?

Man, lotta comments, I gotta get in on this...!

Sony is a company that have been successful in this game for quite sometime now. Of course they do projections and research into this stuff. They wanna make money. They will have weighed up the potential loss of profits from one platform against the potential new profits and brand exposure from another. They will also have researched what proportion of both markets cross over - how many people have a PC and a PS4. Each release will be considered in this way. As a PS gamer you will not be loosing anything. Why would Sony shoot themselves in the foot like that? Some people are staunchly consoles, some are staunchly PC, all gamers want to play the latest and greatest games they can as son as they can. This strategy is far more likely to drive more PC owners to buy a PS, than the other way round.

I don't really get such feverent, illogical support for a company. I worry about people who make a corporation part of their identity to the extent that they can't think logically. Many here are saying this is the beginning of the end for Sony. What tosh. I support the games and the people who make those games. More people being able to play great games is a good thing for gamers and Sony.

Re: Talking Point: What Free March 2021 PS Plus Games Do You Want?

PossibLeigh

Haha, some people seem to be amazingly optimistic and I can't tell if they are being tongue in cheek or not (Sackboy: ABA, HZD and The Avengers are never gonna happen). As some others have said, I'd be well happy with Untitled Goose Game and The Outer Wilds, but realise it's likely to be something more mainstream.

@thefourfoldroot I've dipped a toe, but not dived in. Looks sound though. Couple of interesting music chats going on. I've not checked out Eurogamers forum. Sad to hear it's not good. I quite like their comment sections, apart from all the phantom neggers. PushSquare does it better with just upvotes, I think.

I'm genuinely curious, how does a modern day internet games site Manage things like reviews? I know in the opden days of mags the editors hand out the review assignments, but from what I gather, that's not how it works online? Do writers come to you and say; 'Hey, I've written a review. Are you interested?', or do you assign games to reviewers? If you don't wanna answer from fear of showing us 'behind the wizards robes', that's cool.

Re: Mass Effect Legendary Edition Graphics Comparison Shows a Significant Step Forward

They've evened out the lighting, getting rid of the highs and lows, leading to a more natural light effect. However, this is sci-fi. We don't need natural lighting. Lighting in the originals looks more stylised and interesting. The new lighting has ruined the new look for me and many of the original shots look better, especially the ones with human faces in.

Still not convinced new fem Shep looks good. It's more uncanny valley than the original.

Re: Control: Ultimate Edition (PS5) - A Great Example of What a PS5 Upgrade Can Offer

PossibLeigh

@gbanas92 Maybe, I've read different opinions stating the PS5 gpu is 'equivalent' to a 2060 or a 2080. That's an apples to oranges comparison, of course, so huge pinch of salt. I'd like to point out I'm still judging the new gen in light of the outrageous claims made by both camps before release. 60fps and 4k for everything! 8k? Easy! We can do all that, be super quiet and super cool too! Of course, it was all bollocks and it's silly of me to harp on.

I'm not bitter at all. Honest!

Cna fully believe it's miles better than the PS4 version, so I'm happy for those who are now able to enjoy the game properly! Even if it does get a little repetitive.

I originally played this on a 2070S equipped PC on a 1440p ultrawide and, I'm sorry to say, this looks a far cry from that. The RT reflections look duller and are definitely a lower res, which is a shame. 60fps nicely smooths out the environment when panning so that's the way to play for me.

The good news is the smooth gun and powers play is totally intact. I'm in awe of the games design all over again.

Re: How Is Control: Ultimate Edition Improved on PS5?

PossibLeigh

Control is a good shooter with really well integrated and intuitive powers. I personally enjoyed the britalist styling and creepy atmosphere. It did get repetitive for me towards the end thoughand I can't help but wish the story were a bit more fleshed out. Maybe the DLC does that? Those challenges after completing the game are ***** though!

Re: Poll: Do You Have a PS5?

PossibLeigh

I have one, but between the disappointment of CP2077, having ripped through Demon's Souls and my PGCE picking up pace, it's hardly being used. 😔
