@ILikeStake Nah, I can see where you're coming from, but in reality it's more like 5 hours x 8. This will be a heavily layered game. A loop lasts a day, so that's potentially 24 hours of content (more likely to be 8, I guess). Each visionary and NPC will have their own routines for the entire loop. The one thing this won't be is light on content.
As I said to someone on Eurogamer, it's a matter of perspective. Would you get annoyed at having to restart a level of Hitman due to fluffing up? Failure and repitition are part and parcel of videogames, Deathloop just presents it in a more overt, tongue in check way.
But, yes, excellent to have a civil discussion about our differing thoughts! We don't have long left to find out for real. Cheers, chap.
@rjejr I could be wrong (it's happened once before) but I don't think there is any new story content is there? It's all extra game modes - that trailer gave me major Yakuza / Judgement vibes with all those minigames - so maybe PS4 owners won't mind?
Then again, I can see no technical reason this extra content couldn't be on PS4, so I totally get where you are coming from.
@ILikeStake I agree with you about the style of Dishonoured, which was great, being preferable. They really seem to be going for a 70's kitschy look which might bite them in the arse. The mechanics will be sound and the whole game is built around the loop conceit, but I've gotta agree, it looks quite garish.
I do respectfully disagree with your comment that it looks like an underdeveloped game. I just think that cutting edge graphics have never been their focus. This game will be tight. Tightly plotted and tightly timed.
I'm curious as to how the multi-directional telekinesis works. Maybe hold down a trigger and then flick the left stick in the direction you wanna throw.
@ILikeStake Fair enough. Just out of curiosity (because Arkane's games really do deserve to sell better than they do), what is it you don't like the look of (apart from the graphics which aren't that bad, but are stylised) and have you played other Arkane games?
Oh, and whilst I'm asking, what's the appeal of short, sharpened bits of wood?
@ThomasHL Deathloop is a bit different to Hades and Returnal as in it's not procedurally generated levels. It's more like Hitman crossed with The Outer Wilds, which, I think, is a fantastic idea.
It does look good, but I feel it's sucess as a game will live or die on how well it collates and presents all the information one gathers during a loop. If I have to remember the 8 visionaries schedules from loop to loop, well, that just ain't gonna happen.
I personally love Arkane and think they are one of the best game designers in the business, but they sadly do not appeal to the mainstream. I don't think this will sell well, not because of fear of missing out on a sequal as suggested above (honestly, whose gonna pass up a good game for that reason? Most people also have a MS machine already in their PCs / laptops), but because it's something different and a little unique. Mainstream dogs don't like different or unique, more's the pity.
I am very interested in the game. Prey is bloody fantastic! But agree with what Sammy's saying. We've seen quite a bit of this game already. Isn't Kena also out in August? But, I guess we've seen quite a bit of that too.
@RubyCarbuncle I remember it quite well and thought it was great at the time. Quite wooden in reality, but the photomatching bit was ace and the sprite work quite good and, hell, I just loved Robocop. It's no The Untouchables, but was a good game for it's time that pushed the medium forward.
Love Robocop. The RC and ED209 designs are timeless. However... 'crime enforcer'? Don't you mean 'law enforcer', Sammy? (Don't know how to '@' you if you've not commented)
@Luigia I've heard good things about Blazing Chrome but not tried it yet. As much as I like these games, I only buy them in sales due to their limited replayability.
@Danloaded Whilst I agree that they do not deserve abuse and it's a pathetic thing to do, but, as RBMango says above, they are hardly innocent in fanning the flames. That 'begins with S and ends in L' tweet was a really bad idea.
@The_New_Butler Those do look nice and it's amazing how a small UK company with a 3D printer have been able to beat the combined power of Sony's poxy R&D dept by improving the design..."with small fins to provide improved ventilation and heat resistance."
@AFCC haha, how many people do you know who have needed eye surgery?
Wait... Are you poking people in the eye, just so they need surgery, just so you can show them the Dead Space 2 eye scene before their surgery? Man, that's evil genius level!
Accessibility is more important than difficulty levels. If someone (ie me) doesn't have the time or skill that's not the games fault. It's unfortunate, but not everything can be for everyone. Providing the features so that at least everyone can try is important though.
As long as it isn't as demanding as Sekiro, I'll be alright. Got all the way to the end, but knew it would take me far too long to beat the final baddie.
@Floki I guess the demo not having it is a major indicator that their implementation will be surface level at best. We should probably get used to that in 3rd party games going forward.
Still, it's a very generously sized demo waaay before it's release date so let's not knock it. I'd love to see other publishers follow this.
@Floki I hear on the grapevine that the free demo does not. The full game will almost certainly feature some implementation. Personally, I'm hoping for a more advanced version of the 'jerking off' motion from No More Heroes.
This game has now become my barometer for testing people's critical thinking skills. If someone rates the game, I know we are probably not gonna have much to discuss about art, life and politics. It's a handy shortcut! ðŸ¤
(I am exaggerating and being slightly facetious. Slightly)
@MFTWrecks Agreed. Strange omission from one of PushSquares best reviewers. Dungeon of the Endless was fantastic and the main reason I've any interest in this.

Re: Death Stranding Director's Cut PS5 Upgrade Costs $10
@rjejr On the other hand, that makes it a PS5 exclusive when the system is in need of them, so it's not all bad.
Re: Death Stranding Director's Cut PS5 Upgrade Costs $10
Sweet! Not played this and it's only 15 quid second hand. Do you think this news might drive up second hand prices?
Re: Random: Removed Sony Ad Had PS5 Console Placed Upside Down
@Residentsteven oh good! I was genuinely feeling bad for you! 🤣

Re: Random: Removed Sony Ad Had PS5 Console Placed Upside Down
@Residentsteven Serious?! I guess vapour cooling needs to be upright. Did it work again once you turned it round?
Re: Random: Removed Sony Ad Had PS5 Console Placed Upside Down
@Korgon Yep, totally agree. It's a really weird feeling.
Re: Mini Review: A Plague Tale: Innocence (PS5) - Rats a Good Next-Gen Upgrade
@danlk1ng That is the most likely answer. With the PS store being rather flakey as we all know.
I've a PS5 anyway, but will be interested to see what @playstation1995 ends up with.
Re: Mini Review: A Plague Tale: Innocence (PS5) - Rats a Good Next-Gen Upgrade
@playstation1995 Holy s**t! I've just checked and you're right! PS4 version is currently free. Weird.
Re: Mini Review: The Procession to Calvary (PS4) - Absurd Point and Click Adventure Is Funny and Brilliantly Unique
As an art teacher, I'm instantly interested in this. Looks grand.

Void Bastards is meant to be good, isn't it? Anyone in the know?
Re: Dead or Alive, RoboCop: Rogue City Is Coming to PS5
@captainaverage YES! So evil and one of the best foreheads in the business!
Re: Dead or Alive, RoboCop: Rogue City Is Coming to PS5
Luckily, I was born before Robocop released, but I certainly wasn't 18. So many f-bombs in that wonderful film!
Re: Dead or Alive, RoboCop: Rogue City Is Coming to PS5
@captainaverage And it's the law that you can't watch any film from before you were born? 😜

I'd just like to say... I'll buy that for a dollar!
Re: Dead or Alive, RoboCop: Rogue City Is Coming to PS5
@RubyCarbuncle and how good was it? An actual, honest to goodness okay movie game. I loved it, but I loved the arcade game it was based on more!
Re: Dead or Alive, RoboCop: Rogue City Is Coming to PS5
@Nepp67 Welcome, mate. It does seem to have caused some confusion!
Re: State of Play Livestream Confirmed for Thursday, Featuring Deathloop
@sajoey I really liked the look of Little Devil and Stray so hopefully there will be some news on both of them.
Re: Dead or Alive, RoboCop: Rogue City Is Coming to PS5
@Nepp67 'cause that's his catchphrase? 'Dead or alive, you're coming with me.'

@Luigia Loves Huntdown when I played it. Would pounce on DLC or a sequel.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 382
As I've no TV, I'm playing Apple Arcade games on that iPad thing. Mistwalkers Fantasian makes a great first impression.

@Sinton Nope, me too!

Re: Fans Are Praying Dead Space Is on the Cusp of a Comeback
@The_Moose Not as far as I am aware. Although it was availabe on PS3, I think, it's not on the store now.
Re: Fans Are Praying Dead Space Is on the Cusp of a Comeback
@The_Moose Do you have a PS1 and a copy of Vagrant Story?
Re: Fans Are Praying Dead Space Is on the Cusp of a Comeback
Loved Dead Space, but the potential for a reboot to disappoint is high. Maybe just do a remaster first to gauge interest, eh?

@Rob_230 I never understood that. They are ALL emeralds, but one is green, one is red, one is yellow etc... Uh, aren't they different gemstones?

They should have called this game 'Strangers in Paradise' and had it being about two hot lesbians, one with a huge caboose.
