It's obviously a good thing when companies listen to their customers. However, allow me to present a rather tongue in cheek prediction for the future:
-Sony announce closure of the PS3 and Vita stores.
-Customers get upset and say they still want to be able to buy games.
-Sony says okay, we will allow you to continue buying these games as you've made it clear you still want them.
-Nobody buys any PS3 or Vita games.
-Sony adopts old man stance and vigorously shakes fist.
@Spoonman-2 Yes. After paying £20 and enjoying it, you should have gone back to wherever you bought it from and insisted on paying them another 30 quid. Apparently. I don't make the rules. 🤷
@LordSteev Well said. I didn't enjoy it, but I'm over it. Not gonna harp on about it more. I just come to the CP2077 article's comments for the arguments now. 😃
I kinda wish they'd just go the whole hog and put the camera over the shoulder, a la 4. I think it's more difficult to make a FPS game where the character realistically interacts with the world. Ironically, it's rather immersion breaking.
I'll take that demo though, thanks, Cappy.
And, Jesus, how many times did they say his surname in that trailer? Not working. Still not interested in the guy at all.
I'm currently resisting the urge to get it come release. On the one hand, I don't wanna support £70 gaming. On the other hand, I'd love something shiny and new to play.
@nessisonett That's the main issue I have. Despite the millions of bugs what really pains me is that the experience beneath it is so shallow and unengaging. Something went wrong in the design stage.
They can still take what worked in DG and transfer it to the new game. The characters were the least interesting thing about DG, so nothing lost there in my opinion. It is a shame they had to fight for something new though.
@winnipegborn1984 What's this about not being able to catch 'em all in one run? I did suspect as much when I came across a door I couldn't open. In level 3, I think...
I'm playing through it at the moment. Fan of the first game. It's alright. I agree with many of the issues raised in the review, but still think 4 is harsh as there is still a lot of enjoyment to be wrung from it. It's a solid 6.5892 for me.
@vapidwolf Seemed to work okay for Remenant from what I hear. Didn't play it myself, too brown. Anyway, my point was to do it well is more work than not. But most instances of it being done well are classed as indie games. The decision to randomly generate rooms needs to be backed up by the rest of the game design.
@vapidwolf If it's done well with plenty of variety and a consistent logic guiding the generation I think it's actually more work than creating single worlds. Problem is it's not often done well and is, as you say, a lazy option.
@BrainHacker Okay, you make some good points there, but you're failing again to grasp my very simple point. Again, I'm not comparing the games. I am comparing the ways the different companies have reacted to abysmal launches (as you say, one missing features, one broken). I don't know why you can't get that from the multiple times I've explained it to you.
So far in your three messages you seem to be willfully ignoring my simple point and making irrelevant points. It's fine to have your own opinion (and, as I said, you make some good points about a different subject), but maybe go argue with someone who does have opinions opposed to yours (or just, you know, post your own comment - apologies if you have as I really can't be bothered to check) as, so far, this has been a waste of both of our time.
Yes, you're not targeting me, but, for the reasons above, I'm really not sure why you are directing your comments at me.
Moving on, there are statements in your last comment that I do disagree with, so let's shift the focus to those shall we? That way we can at least be talking about the same things.
You say CDPR are only fixing CP so they can cash in on the multiplayer and charge microtransactions. I don't know how familiar you are with CDPR, but this is very much not their style. They always give DLC for free and the multiplayer will be free too (not that I care for multiplayer. Not my bag). Is it possible that they are committed to fixing the game to:
A. Repair their tarnished reputation (don't forget they own GOG too, so reputation is important).
B. Make some money back on their production costs.
It sold really well through pre-orders, but then CDPR offered no questions asked refunds, so I'm guessing that their revenue projections for the launch have not been met. Isn't that incentive enough for them to 'fix' it, get it back on the PS store and make some profits?
Nothing in the history of CDPR suggests that they will add microtransactions. If this does happen feel free to come back to me and I will humbly eat my hat.
@BrainHacker Seems like you are being willfully ignorant here. I'm not suggesting they had the same problems, but that CDPR should follow HG tactic of keeping shtum and resolving the issues WHATEVER THEY MAY BE.
Anyway I've had a think about it and realised it's probably not CDPR shouting 'Please still love us' as much as it is websites reporting on corporate reports that would normally be ignored by the gaming press if we didn't all love a ***** show.
Anyway (#2) I was just agreeing with someone else, so not sure why you've singled me out to disagree with and not the original commentator.
@BrainHacker Is that relevant when CDPR have said they are committed to 'fixing' the game (emphasis used as I'm aware when it is fixed is subjective)? I'm not talking about support years after release as. As you say it's not an evolving game.
@chris730920 Agreed. Hello Games didn't make dozens of damage control statements, just went quite and did the work necessary. CDPR should definitely take note.
@Kyevo8814 Manager, can we get this 'person' their cheque please? Seriously, calm down. Someone expresses an opinion different to yours and you go off on one insulting people left, right and centre. Who hurt you? Show us on the doll where they touched you.
@nathanSF As far as I know it's not location specific. You've never experienced this? Dislocated sounds and voices, even in cut scenes voices can sound distant (may have been patched), ditto explosions. I've stood in a street, hearing the street sounds, turn 90 degrees and half of the sound just disappears, not quietens, totally disappears. I admit I've not played since the recent patches, but even if it's fixed, does good sound design make up for all it's other faults?
@nathanSF Not denying there is some attention to detail (the physical space of the city IS phenomenal), but the sound design is equally as bad as it is great. For every immersive switch to an interior, there's an example of terrible sound design implementation out in the city.
@Jayslow Genuinely curious, what do you find to be phenomenal in the game? I ask as that's in total contrast to my experience of a shallow mess of a game.
I'm well happy with Oddworld. Loved the original all those years ago. Great world that looked phenomenal, even if the game play was a bit stilted. This looks to be more of the same. A lot more.
Sekiro would be very generous. I'm already happy, but that or Death Stranding on top would be amazeballs.
@Rudy_Manchego I think the opposite! If we consider that MS end goal here is growing game pass, by only launching established franchises like ES and FO on xbox only, they piss off a lot of people who then vow never to by MS (Sure, some may jump ship, but I think just as many will dig their heels in and play pirated versions on PC). By releasing major franchises on all platforms they maximise their revenue and also garner goodwill, which makes it more likely that someone new will join the xbox ecosytem eventually. MS current mantra seems to be make gaming convenient, not make it exclusive. We'll have to wait and see what happens!
@Voltan That's a possibility, for sure. I never played the original Prey, but was excited to see what the guys behind Dishonoured could do with a sci-fi setting.
For me it was all about the world Arkane had created and the wonderful degree of freedom and player choice they had built into it. It's a really tightly designed space, but that only becomes apparent as you journey through the game. I guess though that these are not qualities that show themselves well in a demo. About two thirds of the way through (I think, memories sketcy) you take your first spacewalk outside the station and it then really hits how well crafted it all is.
But, yeah, the combat wasn't the best and enemy design and variety also weren't great, so it's not perfect.
@Daveuppercut That's fair. In fact as I typed my original reply I did think, 'well, the enemy design and variety weren't great'.
I have a deep appreciation for really well designed experiences and the space station in Prey has been one of the most well designed spaces of it's gen, I think. Likewise, the player choice in exploring that space was immense, but at the same time not as obvious and as repetitive as something like the recent Deux Ex games.
For a world like that, I can forgive other things, but totally understand if those things the game didn't do so well are more important to you.
Oh gawd. How much bigger? Aren't the Souls games big enough anyway? Not convinced an open world is a good idea, but willing to reserve judgement until we know more.

I have to get this. Can't really afford it... Have some CEX credit. Can I wait that long for a physical release....?
It's really the kind of game I'd like to own.

And thus the future of gaming as an exclusively digital medium is decided. Bet the next Switch comes with a lot more storage.
