Re: Sony Backtracks PS3, PS Vita Online Store Closures

PossibLeigh

It's obviously a good thing when companies listen to their customers. However, allow me to present a rather tongue in cheek prediction for the future:
-Sony announce closure of the PS3 and Vita stores.
-Customers get upset and say they still want to be able to buy games.
-Sony says okay, we will allow you to continue buying these games as you've made it clear you still want them.
-Nobody buys any PS3 or Vita games.
-Sony adopts old man stance and vigorously shakes fist.

Re: Resident Evil Village Demo Confirmed, Early Access for PS5 and PS4 Players

I kinda wish they'd just go the whole hog and put the camera over the shoulder, a la 4. I think it's more difficult to make a FPS game where the character realistically interacts with the world. Ironically, it's rather immersion breaking.

I'll take that demo though, thanks, Cappy.

And, Jesus, how many times did they say his surname in that trailer? Not working. Still not interested in the guy at all.

@BrainHacker Okay, you make some good points there, but you're failing again to grasp my very simple point. Again, I'm not comparing the games. I am comparing the ways the different companies have reacted to abysmal launches (as you say, one missing features, one broken). I don't know why you can't get that from the multiple times I've explained it to you.

So far in your three messages you seem to be willfully ignoring my simple point and making irrelevant points. It's fine to have your own opinion (and, as I said, you make some good points about a different subject), but maybe go argue with someone who does have opinions opposed to yours (or just, you know, post your own comment - apologies if you have as I really can't be bothered to check) as, so far, this has been a waste of both of our time.

Yes, you're not targeting me, but, for the reasons above, I'm really not sure why you are directing your comments at me.

Moving on, there are statements in your last comment that I do disagree with, so let's shift the focus to those shall we? That way we can at least be talking about the same things.

You say CDPR are only fixing CP so they can cash in on the multiplayer and charge microtransactions. I don't know how familiar you are with CDPR, but this is very much not their style. They always give DLC for free and the multiplayer will be free too (not that I care for multiplayer. Not my bag). Is it possible that they are committed to fixing the game to:

A. Repair their tarnished reputation (don't forget they own GOG too, so reputation is important).

B. Make some money back on their production costs.

It sold really well through pre-orders, but then CDPR offered no questions asked refunds, so I'm guessing that their revenue projections for the launch have not been met. Isn't that incentive enough for them to 'fix' it, get it back on the PS store and make some profits?

Nothing in the history of CDPR suggests that they will add microtransactions. If this does happen feel free to come back to me and I will humbly eat my hat.

@BrainHacker Seems like you are being willfully ignorant here. I'm not suggesting they had the same problems, but that CDPR should follow HG tactic of keeping shtum and resolving the issues WHATEVER THEY MAY BE.

Anyway I've had a think about it and realised it's probably not CDPR shouting 'Please still love us' as much as it is websites reporting on corporate reports that would normally be ignored by the gaming press if we didn't all love a ***** show.

Anyway (#2) I was just agreeing with someone else, so not sure why you've singled me out to disagree with and not the original commentator.

Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 - Less Crashing and Better Performance on PS5, PS4, But We've Still Got a Long Way to Go

PossibLeigh

@nathanSF As far as I know it's not location specific. You've never experienced this? Dislocated sounds and voices, even in cut scenes voices can sound distant (may have been patched), ditto explosions. I've stood in a street, hearing the street sounds, turn 90 degrees and half of the sound just disappears, not quietens, totally disappears. I admit I've not played since the recent patches, but even if it's fixed, does good sound design make up for all it's other faults?

Re: Bethesda Says 'Some' Future Games Won't Launch on PS5, PS4

@Rudy_Manchego I think the opposite! If we consider that MS end goal here is growing game pass, by only launching established franchises like ES and FO on xbox only, they piss off a lot of people who then vow never to by MS (Sure, some may jump ship, but I think just as many will dig their heels in and play pirated versions on PC). By releasing major franchises on all platforms they maximise their revenue and also garner goodwill, which makes it more likely that someone new will join the xbox ecosytem eventually. MS current mantra seems to be make gaming convenient, not make it exclusive. We'll have to wait and see what happens!

Re: Bethesda Says 'Some' Future Games Won't Launch on PS5, PS4

@Voltan That's a possibility, for sure. I never played the original Prey, but was excited to see what the guys behind Dishonoured could do with a sci-fi setting.

For me it was all about the world Arkane had created and the wonderful degree of freedom and player choice they had built into it. It's a really tightly designed space, but that only becomes apparent as you journey through the game. I guess though that these are not qualities that show themselves well in a demo. About two thirds of the way through (I think, memories sketcy) you take your first spacewalk outside the station and it then really hits how well crafted it all is.

But, yeah, the combat wasn't the best and enemy design and variety also weren't great, so it's not perfect.

Damn, I wanna go play it again now!

Re: Bethesda Says 'Some' Future Games Won't Launch on PS5, PS4

PossibLeigh

@Daveuppercut That's fair. In fact as I typed my original reply I did think, 'well, the enemy design and variety weren't great'.

I have a deep appreciation for really well designed experiences and the space station in Prey has been one of the most well designed spaces of it's gen, I think. Likewise, the player choice in exploring that space was immense, but at the same time not as obvious and as repetitive as something like the recent Deux Ex games.

For a world like that, I can forgive other things, but totally understand if those things the game didn't do so well are more important to you.
