Had a fantastic time with Relink, and never did finish off all the endgame content, so this more than a good enough reason to jump back in. Still amazed this is coming out so far after the initial release!
Is this the first ever generation of consoles that has actually gone up (especially by an insanely high amount) rather than dropped in price years down the line?
There’s nothing really more to be said about this sucky move that hasn’t already been mentioned on the comments, but just curious if this is a first for consoles in general.
To be honest, I think the age of gamers has gone up across the board. They should embrace it, targeting folks in their 30s / 40s who have jobs and can afford to buy games can’t be a terrible business model.
@Aedensin @Makeshift @lazarus11 so, I don’t want to jinx it too early but looks like there maybe a fix (granted it’s not a pretty one). Someone on Reddit posted this…
“On the PS5 disable all settings, 120hz, VRR, ALLM, and HDR. Set the resolution to a default setting such as 2160p. Tested with 1080 as well at it also worked.
In game balanced, vsyc on, hdr off. 3d nodes off.”
So far so good (even though it looks pretty ugly). Might be our best bet, at least until they roll out a fix.
@Aedensin Ah no! I’m pretty sure that going into Chapter 2 is what triggers it. I played through Chapter 1 with zero issues. Really hope they get a patch out for this soon. If you Google the issue it seems a lot of folks are having the same problem.
@Boomers-r-us unfortunately I’ve had it simply opening the map, pretty much every time. I’ve been able to play using quest markers, but it’s not ideal. Hopefully this’ll be a quick patch, because it is kinda killing my game.
@Makeshift hang in there! I’m sure they’ll patch it soon
@Ravix I’ve tried that, but to no avail unfortunately. Some have said turning VRR off sorts it (doesn’t make any sense to me, but I’ll give it a whirl later), but not too hopeful.
Problem seems to be pretty widespread on both base PS5 and PS5 Pro so hopefully they put out a fix sooner rather than later… just means I’ll be forced to socialise tonight rather than staying in as planned 😄
I must say, other than this my first impression were fairly positive. It’s got an odd vibe for sure, closest way I think of describing it is Breath of the Wild set in the FF16 world. But I was enjoying my time with it.
Controls are fine, the game crashing every time you open the the map not so much. Very strange, played it for a good while yesterday with no issues, booted it up this morning (not with any new patch) and it freezes every time I open the map, not ideal for an exploration game. A quick google search suggests I’m not alone.
Shame, up until then I’d had a really good time with it and no performance issues at all. Guess my luck run dry…
We’ve reached a point where people are so desperate to join the online hit squad and revel with glee in a game that people are looking forward to being bad that 8/10 is a “major disappointment.” Considering one of my fav games of all time (it begins with an N in case anyone can’t guess) received 7’s across the board upon release… I think we’ll be fine…
But seriously guys, the only major disappointment here is that you folks went with such a click-baity headline. You’re better than that.
And my pre-order can now officially go on! Gameplay wise I’m not concerned, a lot of trusted folks have heavily hinted the game is quite special (if a tad overwhelming), the only thing that was holding me back was performance. First proper open world game I’ve looked forward to since Elden Ring! Let’s hope it delivers 🙏
@ButterySmooth30FPS I mean, to be fair, the gaming generation is aging, and we’ve spent our lives buying a cartridge, floppy disc, CD, blu-ray where the full game WAS included.
I’ll still buy physical where I can, even if I know what’s on the disc isn’t the actual game, I like to hold something in my hands (and trade it in at a later date if it doesn’t gel), the weirdness against physical media is what I really don’t get.
Cautiously optimistic about Crimson Desert! Let’s see how the reviews pan out next week, but judging on early impressions, sounds like the first open world game in a LONG time I’ll gel with.
@Oram77 Haha, I use the term new game teased lightly. It was in their 9 years of NieR Automata stream, they basically said “to be continued” at the end…
Still can’t quite get my head around this one (and indeed will probably take a few watches to get head around whatever the mad man in the mask comes up with for the series), but it’s impossible not to be insanely excited…
…so long as it doesn’t hinder that new NieR game which was teased last week, and we’re 100%, definitely, without a shadow of a doubt getting (please!).
@Ricketyrascal87 it’s actually the one after! 😄 I finally did the H boss, and was feeling real good about myself, 15 mins later, bam, another brick wall 😆
It’s concerning how much I’m actually looking forward to this… dare I say it, it actually looks like they might have got it right?
Being a long suffering Hellraiser fan, especially considering the latest movie offerings we’ve had, it’d be so awesome to actually get a recent, good Hellraiser entry.
Oh, and PLEASE give us a PSVR2 mode. It looks like it’s almost made for it 🙏
I know Square Enix has been a little, well, unstable of late… but Yoko Taro and co have been teasing something for almost a year now. Come on, it’s about time they pulled back the curtain! Or it could just be Yoko Taro trolling us, which is also is very possible 😄
@Skyzzle I’ve been thinking for a while how perfect Tenchu would be to bring back. Absolutely loved the first game! Sekiro is probably the closest we’ll ever get (which isn’t exactly a bad trade)… but there’s always hope.
What a great surprise! I didn’t have DLC for Relink on my 2026 bingo card, but here we are! Really loved this game, so an excuse to jump back in is most welcome!
Genuinely can’t wait to get my hands on this in a few days, absolutely loving the demo (still yet to finish it!)
@LiamCroft with the smaller map missions you mention that you can’t go back to, are these not replayable from the shrines? And if not, are there collectables (Kodama’s etc,) you can miss in those missions?
I’ve been meaning to play the first Tokyo Xanadu for so long now… hopefully they tie the new announcement in with a sale on the PS Store and I’ll take the plunge.
In a bit of a lull waiting for NioH 3, so continuing my Xenoblade Chronicles adventure on switch while tackling some of the many escalations etc I never completed on Hitman.
@Mintie I’ll probably hold off another few days and jump in later in the week. I assume it doesn’t let you continue to level up past a certain point? Otherwise people might be going into the full game insanely OP’d. Haha
Does anyone know roughly how long the demo takes to complete? I do want to play it, but might hold off until next week so I can just jump right into the main game after. I quite like the feeling of booting up a new game for the first time, don’t really want to have to wait days after finishing it to carry on 😄
If people put half the effort they do into craziness like this / taking to the internet to harass game developers because they think they’re entitled to, into doing something good… just imagine what we could achieve in this world.
I really enjoyed the first Code Vein and really looking forward to eventually jumping into this, but releasing so close to Nioh 3 is going to hurt it I think. Unless there’s some surprising damning reviews for Nioh, I’ll more than likely wait a few weeks and pick that up instead.
I honestly don’t know what to make of this anymore. The overwhelming hype out there for this, which was always going to be the case, will lead to either crushing disappointment or one of the greatest games ever made.
Honestly, I was excited a few years back, but right now I’m struggling to muster any enthusiasm for it. Part because I’m a bit burnt out with open world games, part because my gaming taste has hugely changed over the past 5 or so years (thanks to jumping to PS from Xbox and discovering a wealth of Japanese titles I’ve totally fallen in love with), and part because these days I just find Rockstar a little… icky.
It’ll still make an obscene amount of money, and whenever it does finally release it will be the biggest money maker throughout the whole of the media industry that year. I really hope it wins me back on board when it does.
@graymamba That’s good to know. I kind of want to play 3 alongside everyone else. There’s something about those types of games discovering everything at the same time as others, as corny as that sounds, and then I know I’ve got 2 to look forward to after! 🙂
Happy New Year folks! Rolled credits on the first Nioh yesterday, what a ride that was, absolutely loved it! I’ll probably wait and jump into 3 next before tackling 2, apparently the stories don’t really follow on? (If anyone can confirm that’d be appreciated 😄)
Picked up Ninja Gaiden Black in the January sale to tide me over until then, why did no one tell me this game was so hard? 😂. Changing the move speed of the camera to fast has helped a lot, but damn that second main boss kicked me around for a long time. I got him eventually… a long ways off master ninja for now, but let’s see what 2026 brings.
Been making my way through my first ever trip playthrough of Nioh recently and having an absolute blast with it. Awesome to know theres two more to play once I’m done!
I do want to treat myself to something new over the break though, I’m think either Ninja Gaidan 4, Black Myth Wukon or Metal Gear Delta, so hopefully jump into one of those as well. Have fun folks!
@Burnish1619 Don’t worry I never thought you were baiting… I guess when it’s something close to home you have to stick up for yourself. Haha.
Value is guess is subjective, when it comes to games in particular, there are so many elements at play, design, gameplay, music, voice acting, world building etc, and obviously certain people are always going to take more notice of a certain aspect of a game, because that’s where their interests lie. Personally that design / art element I hold near the top of that list, and I want that to stay in the hands of people who really care and put their blood, sweat and tears into something over a computer which is just mimicking what those aforementioned people worked so hard to achieve.
When it comes to it being a knee-jerk reaction, I’m not entirely sure that’s true, but I can totally see why some might think that. For some of us watching AI creep in the past few years has been like watching a car crash in slow motion, internally we’ve been talking about it for a long time, but obviously right now it’s the hot topic, so I get that fatigue even discussing it can sink in.
I’m just glad the discussion is out there. At the end of the day we all just want to play cool games 🙂
@Burnish1619 Okay, I’ll bite. While this maybe true for a very small handful of people, taking it in relation to this article and talking specifically about media/games (which is all I can really talk about because it’s the only sector I’ve ever worked in), the jobs are far from “cushy”. Most folks do these jobs because it’s something they care about and love. More than most of the time the money is not overly paid, the hours are exhausting and the stress which comes with crunches / deadlines etc are sometimes off the charts.
I’m not at all saying people in other jobs don’t have those same pressures / worries, but I think broadly calling all of those jobs “cushy” is a tad unfair.
While AI outrage online may seem boring to some, unfortunately the concern is very real, and in my opinion for what it’s worth (probably not much 😄), what Larian are doing here is a slippery slope, and if I had it my way I’d be cutting the head off the snake now.
I’ve worked in media my whole life (film and tv rather than games) and in the past few years it’s very clear that AI is coming to replace human hands (we even had to do a “course” to help us get to grips with AI so we could see how useful it would be in our day-to-day working life… looking back on it now I’m pretty sure it was the other way around, and it was us training the AI to do our jobs). The worry is real for job security, and we feel it every day. More directly to this article, I have a friend who works in concept art, and this exact issue has been a problem for a good while now. They’ve said how depressing it can be that rather than being able to explore ideas themselves, their briefs are now sometimes, here’s an AI generated image of what we want, basically just re-do this so we can claim copyright on it, which is pretty ghastly if you ask me.
I know AI isn’t going anywhere and we all have to adapt, and yeah, I’m openly biased on this one. But I also have my own place in this fight, minor as it is, so I hope Sarah and John Connor get their ass in gear and destroy it soon 😄
Very happy with Wo Long. I’m actually just on my first playthrough of Nioh (I know, late to the party) and loving it, so this has come at a very good time!
Although I’ll try and vary it up a bit, who am I kidding? It’ll be Arc Raiders! I also have Katamari Reroll downloaded to satisfy my Japanese gaming itch… never played any of the katamari games so quite looking forward to that.
Have a blast everyone… and if you see me Raiding Arcs, please “don’t shoot!”
@Northern_munkey I might muster up the courage. People have been pretty chill on the whole which has been nice! The PVP element was the thing that originally put me off, but I’ve had a pretty good experience so far. Maybe I’ve got lucky.
There’s been some incredible games released for PSVR2 this year, it’s a shame a lot of the major news site (pushsquare included) really seem to have it in for the headset, you rarely read anything positive (even this article headline reads as a negative, despite the fact it’s 5 games being announced), and yet fail to cover games that are highly praised when released, such as Arken Age, Legendary Tales, Into the Radius etc…
As I’ve said before, I get that VR is a niche and will never be for everyone, just a shame the places that could be pushing it don’t even want to seem to give it a fighting chance.
Still… I’m still loving my time with the headset, and always good to see a bit of love in comments on the rare occasion it gets it chance to be in the spotlight 😄
Midway through my NG+ playthrough of Fate/Samurai to get all the digressions and endings. This game has been such a surprise, absolutely loved my time with it.
And it’s spooky month so started Silent Hill 2 (much tougher than I remember from when I was a teenager playing it on PS2… maybe my reflexes were better back then 😄), but with this and Fate/Samurai, PS plus has actually been worth it last few months.
Also, in small doses braving Madison VR, but holy hell that is intense. It takes a lot to spook me, but there have been cases I’ve actually closed my eyes, and one point I almost ripped the headset off my head… that is some scary stuff, but… ‘tis the season!
I really enjoyed the first one, it is a soulslike, but pretty forgiving. I played it over the Christmas period a few years back, so always associated Code Vein with Christmas for some reason… I don’t think they intended that 😄. This looks like a big step up, and love those over the top boss deigns!
In all honesty I’d be happy if they toned down the soulslike features even more and went more hack and slash with it (which the first trailer semi hinted at?) either way I’ll be there!
@SeaDaVie I loved Scarlet Nexus as well! Hoping we do get a sequel. I am a bit of a sucker for these kind of games. Fate/Samurai on PS Plus Extra is scratching the itch for now if you haven’t tried that one, it’s a good’un 🙂
I’m playing a certain samurai sword play game, of course, I’m talking about… Fate / Samurai (I will get around to Ghost of Yotei, funds just aren’t allowing it this month 😄)
In all seriousness though, Fate / Samurai dropped quite quietly on PS Extra a month or so back and it’s a genuine hidden gem, I’m having a really good time with it. If you have seen the anime it definitely does a great job of capturing that tone, but I’m fairly confident it’d work just as well going in blind (it explains everything and is set many years before the anime takes place, so is totally standalone). It can be a bit talky in places, but the combat is a hell of a lot of fun, especially when you’re able to start switching characters. Highly recommend for anyone on the look out to fill the gap in between buying / playing something 🙂
I’ve never been into the Gacha game, but if anything I’ll more than likely at least give this one a go. On paper it should be a lot of fun, but time will tell.
In terms of the animations, especially Insomniac related, is there a chance with Sony’s backing Insomniac shared (or maybe sold) the animations etc? I have no idea as to the ins and outs of the gaming industry, but if it gives insomniac a cash boost and allows these guys to speed up development, maybe not out of the question? (And takes away any chance of any potential lawsuits 😄)
@Lowdefal It’s a hard thing to pin point, but it’s kind of the same issue I have with most modern British movies / TV, everything just sounds really forced and far too pronounced (also the fact FF16 had the voice of Chris Finch from The Office, that was far too jarring 😄)
I don’t know, maybe it’s too close to home. I hear enough English accents everyday, when I play a game I want to be transported somewhere else. As I said, this is very much a “me” problem, I’m not saying it’s bad… just not to my personal taste.
I unapologetically loved Code Vein! I played it on Xbox (yes… I’m a turncoat), but yeah… all over this! Shame it doesn’t looks like you can’t bring your character over

I’m just glad the discussion is out there. At the end of the day we all just want to play cool games 🙂
Re: Divinity Dev's Comments on Generative AI Trigger a Total Social Media Sh*tstorm
Re: Divinity Dev's Comments on Generative AI Trigger a Total Social Media Sh*tstorm
Re: 3 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for December 2025 Leaked Early
Very happy with Wo Long. I’m actually just on my first playthrough of Nioh (I know, late to the party) and loving it, so this has come at a very good time!
Re: PS5 Sci-Fi Action RPG SOL Shogunate Is Samurai in Space, and It Looks Awesome
Well this just shot to the top of my anticipated games list! This looks awesome, more of this please!
Re: State of Play Announced for 11th November, Focus on Japanese PS5 Games
About time to see what Yoko Taro’s been cooking up? 🤞🤞🤞
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 606
Re: Arc Raiders: How to Solve Harvester Puzzle and Earn Great Loot
@Northern_munkey I might muster up the courage. People have been pretty chill on the whole which has been nice! The PVP element was the thing that originally put me off, but I’ve had a pretty good experience so far. Maybe I’ve got lucky.
Re: Arc Raiders: How to Solve Harvester Puzzle and Earn Great Loot
Loving my time with this game, even if I am absolutely terrible at it 😄
I don’t dare go near a harvester / Queen yet, I haven’t even been able to take down a rocketeer or the giant spider arcs… one day…
Re: At Least One Publisher Still Strongly Supports PSVR2
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 604
Have fun everyone!
Re: PS5 Soulslike Code Vein 2 Couldn't Be More Anime If It Tried
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 601
Have a good weekend folks!
Re: Preview: We Played Anime Open World Ananta, and It Could Change Everything
I’ve never been into the Gacha game, but if anything I’ll more than likely at least give this one a go. On paper it should be a lot of fun, but time will tell.
In terms of the animations, especially Insomniac related, is there a chance with Sony’s backing Insomniac shared (or maybe sold) the animations etc? I have no idea as to the ins and outs of the gaming industry, but if it gives insomniac a cash boost and allows these guys to speed up development, maybe not out of the question? (And takes away any chance of any potential lawsuits 😄)
Re: Saros Launches Exclusively on PS5 in March 2026, and It Looks Fantastic in First Gameplay
Re: Code Vein 2 Adds to an Increasingly Stacked 2026 PS5 Release Schedule
I unapologetically loved Code Vein! I played it on Xbox (yes… I’m a turncoat), but yeah… all over this! Shame it doesn’t looks like you can’t bring your character over
