Bloodborne PS4

Don't let that range of Bloodborne merchandise Sony is taking to TGS fool you: it sounds like the PS5 maker still doesn't have any plans to bring the PS4 classic back in any sort of video game form.

Speaking on one of his podcasts, Giant Bomb lead Jeff Grubb said he checked in with his sources recently surrounding any movement in relation to the Bloodborne IP. He heard back: "Nothing is happening with Bloodborne." The comment was made in relation to the heavily rumoured State of Play livestream, which is reported to be taking place next week.

According to Grubb, nothing relating to a Bloodborne re-release, remaster, remake, or even a sequel will be at the event— or indeed any Sony show in the near future.

As for what FromSoftware could be doing instead, it's still supporting Elden Ring Nightreign and the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods is in active development for a 2026 release. However, neither project could be classed as the developer's next big thing, like a true single player RPG. That may still be a few years off from an announcement.

However, as Sony owns the Bloodborne IP, it theoretically doesn't need FromSoftware involved to bring the PS4 classic back. It was Bluepoint Games that worked on the Demon's Souls remake for the PS5 launch, which is an IP also owned by Sony.

Despite the ball being pretty much entirely in Sony's court, it's apparently still not choosing to do anything with what the hardcore PlayStation audience considers a classic. You can still play it on PS5, but only at 30 frames-per-second via backwards compatibility.
