You're sadly likely right. I myself don't play live service games, i don't do microtransactions and my PS5 (got it used) cost me £230 after trading in my PS4.
I thought £500 for the PS5 was a lot at launch. PS6 is likely pushing £1000 so I know there is zero chance I get that.
The sad thing is PS6 is likely to be cheapest at launch too
$1000 for a console is insanity to me. I have gotten every PS console since the first one. All good things come to an end clearly. PS5 will likely be my last console
This was inevitable and GTA 6 was the matchstick to light the fire.
Over 85% of games are bought digitally now. Sony is a mega corporation. They have never and will never be our friend. Its a business-consumer relationship. Once it stops being beneficial to you, leave.
They only listen to money. Vote with your wallet but then again, GTA 6 is the most bought game on all PSN storefronts across the world so the casual consumer does not care sadly.
Industry has been heavily leaning towards digital for over a decade now so although its a good gesture, I doubt it will make any difference to Rockstar's decision.
I dropped FF16 around the midway point as i was very bored with it and despite trying to force myself to finish it, i stopped and sold it and I am a major FF fan.
Ill pick up my save from where i left off and see if my opinion changes
Hard to take them seriously when they have flip flopped on several statements.
I was planning on selling my Series S next year once my gamepass ultimate sub lapsed but will keep it now just in case they are actually serious about exclusives.
I have a Series S so definite day 1 download, however I doubt most people will buy an Xbox to play E-Day.
Already tonnes of Xbox content coming to PS5 with Halo, Fable etc so if people really want E-Day, they will likely attempt to get it on PC, beat it and move on.

Re: Halo Made Its PS5 Debut, So Now It's Time for Xbox to Lay Off the Team That Made It
Morale must be at an all time low. Damned if you do well, damned if you don't
Re: Sony's New Spider-Man Movie Obliterates Expectations with Global $927 Million Haul
Not surprised. Its Spider-Man. I expect it to make at least $2 Billion before the end of its cinematic run
Re: Sales Data Paints a Very Grim Picture for Physical PS5 Games in the USA, UK
This is why Sony won't change their decision. People on forums like this are the vast minority.
Re: Give Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 a Go in Its PS5 Beta Next Month
The bar was so low with Black Ops 7 that Modern Warfare 4 is almost certain to be a hit.
I enjoy Modern warfare so paying attention to this
Re: 'Bare Bones' PS5 Black Ops Ports Reportedly Have More Players Than Latest Game, Already Best Sellers on PS Store
This is why online noise doesn't matter to the companies.
They know its a vocal minority.
Money talks.
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS5) - One Big Rip-Off
Will wait for the inevitable PS Plus inclusion
Re: 'PS5 Has Put a Dampener on Gaming': 45% of Enthusiasts 'Seriously Considering' Leaving Sony for PC
Zero chance I get a PS6. There won't be any major exclusives for it for at least 5 years. It will cost $1000+ dollars. Digital only future.
Easy decision to stick with PS5
Re: Poll: Are You Considering Leaving PlayStation for PC?
£1000 on a console is too much for me.
Got every Playstation since the first but spending £1000+ on the PS6 or a PC in general will have me just stick to PS5 for as long as possible.
I don't expect many PS6 exclusives for the first 5 years anyway like this generation did. Heck games still come out for PS4 even now.

Vote with your wallet.
Thats the only thing they care about.
Get your games in physical format where you can. Get Sony exclusives 2nd hand physical to prevent as much money as possible going back to Sony.
Don't buy the PS6 at $1000+
Re: Poll: $1,000 and No Disc Drive - Is PS6 Dead on Arrival?
Spending $500 on a console makes me think twice. Spending $1000 is having a laugh.
Zero chance I bother at launch and with no disc drive, now sounds like a good time to switch to PC
Re: PlayStation's Plan to Kill Physical Games Has Spawned Not One But Many Online Petitions
Sony determined to burn through all their goodwill
Prices rises
500 movies removed
Disc production ending
Ps3 and vita store closed
All within a few weeks
Re: Reaction: PlayStation's Burned Through the Last Remaining Goodwill of Its Fans
$1000 for a console is insanity to me. I have gotten every PS console since the first one. All good things come to an end clearly. PS5 will likely be my last console

Re: GTA 6 Is the PS5's Number One Game in Every Country on the Planet
Goes to show the outrage over the $100 version and no disc doesn't matter to the vast majority of people
Re: Sony Will Continue to Chase Live Service Dream, Despite Mostly Disastrous Execution to Date
They can use their money how they wish. I like many of you will just continue to ignore live service games.
Re: GTA 6 PS5 Disc Hopes Seemingly Dashed by Rockstar Source
People will complain but still buy it regardless and they know it.
Re: GTA 6 Is a 'Single Player Experience', No Word on GTA Online at Launch
Makes sense.
Have all the focus on single player.
Then eventually market GTA Online 2.0 and steal headlines multiple times in a year through one game
Re: Physical Retailers Refuse to Sell GTA 6 Over Decision to Skip Discs
Industry has been heavily leaning towards digital for over a decade now so although its a good gesture, I doubt it will make any difference to Rockstar's decision.
Re: You Can Upgrade to GTA 6's Ultimate Edition Whenever You Like
Game is going to sell 10s of millions of copies before it even releases
Re: Where to Pre-Order GTA 6 on PS5
I expect record breaking amount of pre orders. Im guessing 10 mill
Re: Opinion: The PS6 Cannot Come Out in This Era of $1,000+ Consoles
Got my PS5 for £230 after trading in my PS4 at Cex.
Paying close to £1000 for a PS6 is lunacy to me.
Re: Halo PS5 Backtracks PS Plus Co-Op Demands, Says They Were a Mistake
@Netret0120
Backlash works! They saw it and realized they pushed it too far.
Re: Uproar as Halo PS5 Demands 2 PS Plus Subscriptions for Local Co-Op
Halo will sell more on Playstation than Xbox so the backlash should make them change course because its all about the money
Re: Sony Aims to Drive PS Plus Profits by 'Improving Service Proposition'
Premium is a joke in terms of quality. We get 1 classic game a month at best and the PS3 streaming games haven't been updated in years.
Re: This Business Is Observing a Day Off for GTA 6 Launch, and It Won't Be the Only One
1 week annual leave booked and ready!
Re: Poll: How Much Will GTA 6 Cost?
The real money is in shark cards. The price will be standard.
The premium edition with shark card money etc will be $100
Re: GTA 6 PS5 Pre-Orders Open on 25th June, Cover Art Revealed
1st game I will ever pre-order. Collectors Edition if it exists. Day 1 Play. Annual Leave Booked Starting Nov 19.
Re: How About a New PS5 SSD Upgrade? That'll Be $3,000
Get a 1TB Harddrive. Move games back and forth for under £35.
Or just download a few games at a time.
Re: How About a New PS5 SSD Upgrade? That'll Be $3,000
@PsBoxSwitchOwner
Same. I only play 1 or 2 games at a time. Why do I need 50 installed at once.
If you really need extra storage, just get a cheap 1TB external HDD and transfer games from it to your console as you have breakfast or something.
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth Sales Seemingly Spike After Revelation Reveal
Love FF7 and the Remakes so I am glad more people are experiencing it. Excellent games and hoping for more Queens Blood Minigames in Revelation
Re: Sony 'Hopes' to Launch PS5's God of War Laufey in the First Half of 2027
Forgot Intergalactic even existed.
If they release it around April 2027, that would be impressive
Re: Opinion: PS Plus Users, You Should Play Final Fantasy 16 (But Only If You Play It Like This)
@vikramsingh
Literally my thinking. Quit around halfway

Re: Out in Late October, Phantom Blade Zero Dev Doesn't Care How Close It Is to GTA 6
GTA 6 release date will be an event.
Annual leave booked and day 1 buy.

@darylb24 Using logic will upset tonnes of people
Re: Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy's PS5 Release Date Narrowly Avoids September Madness
Day 1 play for me
Adored both Plague Tale games and the ending of Requiem was extremely good.
Re: Poll: Who Had the Best Not-E3 Livestream This Week?
Summer Game Fest
Xbox Showcase
Last is State Of Play
Re: 'There's a Finished Version of Gears of War PS5 Sitting on a Drive': New Game E-Day Was Almost Done
Hard to take them seriously with all the flip flopping.
If E-Day is still exclusive after a few years, then I'll believe them

More Queen's Blood! Day 1 Buy
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Cheats Live Now in New PS5 Patch
The Battle Arena in Rebirth was much more brutal than Remake. Great game. Time to platinum.
Re: Marvel's Wolverine Looks Brutal and Bloody Brilliant in First Proper PS5 Gameplay
3 Insomniac games in 1 generation. Well done!
Re: Lara Croft Battles Dinosaurs in New $60 PS5 Tomb Raider Next Year
Reminded me of "Rise Of The Tomb Raider". Definitely paying attention to review scores
Re: God of War Laufey Is the Next Main Entry in the Saga, 'Coming Soon' to PS5
Mid 2027 is my guess.
Great first showcase of the game. Enjoy the fact all this appears to be happening simultaneously during God Of War 2018 & Ragnarok
Re: 11 Years Later, Until Dawn 2 Is Official and Coming to PS5 in 2027
I would have jumped alone
Re: September on PS5 Is Officially Insane, Onimusha: Way of the Sword Locks Release Date
September & October is insanely stacked.
Understandably nobody wants to release around GTA 6.
Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for June 2026?
Very happy with what I saw
Laufey
Wolverine
Until Dawn 2
Rayman
Onimusha
September/October is stacked!
Nobody trying to release in November
Re: 007 First Light PS5 Cost a Fortune to Make, But It Was Worth It
Geez. With a budget like that, no wonder companies are entirely risk averse.
