Honestly, I’d be more surprised if this stuff wasn’t in the game. There’s an argument to be made that GTA’s whole purpose is to push the envelope. It always has, and hopefully always will. As long as player choice evolves with it, the satire works.

@Metonymy Can you please explain to me where exactly the satire is? All I see is a crime simulator where players can indulge themselves in things that (most) wouldn't do in real life. I feel like the only "evolution" is that Rockstar tries to go more and more R-rated to get people's attention.

The realism in this game - are we going to see a repeat of the late 90’s ban the game etc? I saw the leaked videos and it’s so shocking the accuracy in terms of bloodshed and shooting of the game that I do think it could be almost toned down. As for true fetish, I still expect that to be on the periphery as much as it always has been in reality - latex fetish will be there but only in comedy value and not reality (etc bring out the gimp). The skin tones of a nudist camp was an eye opener, great to see all walks of scin tone and cellulite represented. Honestly, this is simply the edge of what this game will do to the world. The impact will be felt for years, across all boundaries. This area is just one aspect. The pseudo political commentary and the violence will take centre focus for many years to come, let alone the sales.

I keep saying things will get better in November.

@Citrus_Architect The thing is we've long been above all this as a medium. The era of gangster games is largely over. GTA was once edgy and satirical but it now just seems immature and puerile, like a PS2 era game designed to appeal to teenage boys.

My kids are grown and out of the house. I can finally play these games without worrying about them walking in during certain moments.

@Citrus_Architect The games examine the pursuit of happiness against an exaggerated yet not inaccurate pastiche of modern western society, with all of its excesses, corruptions, systemic failures, diversity and cultural wackiness and incongruences on full display. Giving players unprecedented freedom and choice within this framework taps into something personal and convicting. The fact that this “crime simulator” is one of the biggest, most profitable franchises in the world means, in my opinion, the satire speaks for itself.

I'm guessing we will see Lucia naked then? I wonder what that's like for Manni whose never nudity but has a near photo realistic video game character with her exact likeness naked. Didn't Elliot Page sue Quantic Dreams because despite refusing to have a fully naked shower section they still created a naked model of him anyway what got leaked? It might not be real but its still nudity what will be associated with you regardless if your likeness is on it.

@Shaw_Brothers Hellraiser is out next week i doubt GTA VI will top that with sex fetishes.

Liam I'm glad to hear that killing animals in games bothers you as well. Im okay mowing down a bunch of humans in Uncharted but feel guilty shooting any animal.

I am curious how far they're going to go with stuff in-game. It'll be a lot weirder with how realistic everything looks.

I'll skip the harming animals/drugs and take everything else. As long as a game doesn't force me to do something then I tend to not do it, especially where animals are concerned. If someone shoots me I'll shoot back, I know games like Grand Theft Auto allow for rampage like behavior, that's not my cup of tea either. I'm curious to see what Rockstar deem taboo, the virtual and the life are usually vastly different, books/movies always get it wrong and since it's a series known for it's satire I don't expect much there by way of a realistic portrayal, just some slap and tickle.

@Max_the_German There is a lot worse out there that fourteen year olds are being exposed to than could ever be shown in a video-game. I'm completely desensitized to all of the above because of how easy it is to access worse content than Rockstar will ever provide, and I had it a lot younger than that age. Years later and that content is now a mirror of my life and part of my everyday normal. I don't blame video-games for violence or sexual thinking, not when all it takes is a smartphone or a simple Google search. If someone comes along after that game releases and blames it for sexism or any other buzzword? then they are missing what's been there right in-front of them and readily available this whole time.

Violent games don't create psychopaths, nor does sexualization in a game create a 'bad Boyfriend', we'd like to think that they do so we can point the finger and say 'that's why'. Doing that would be missing the point completely.

1) All this “hard stuff” may be impressive for young boys, but more mature gamers will hardly be impressed by this sensationalism, at least I am.
2) The “good boyfriend” thing seems to be a gameplay mechanic. Hold the hand of Lucia etc. when the game says, basically QTEs. I thought we got finally rid of them.

This game looks so clunky and slow to me, talkative like a JRPG of the worst kind. But maybe it’s the trailers, where they avoided running, fast driving, skipping dialogues etc. to look more “cinematic”.

• It wouldn't be the first time either of us were but you said fourteen and when I was fourteen I was with a man three times my age, it was the age of consent in that part of the world, I repeated the process at sixteen in England and entered what W/we in my community call formal training, my current situation is no different either. My whole life by definition is completely Taboo and creates another divide I have to balance when trying to converse with people outside of something I've known for longer than I care to or can admit (I'm trying to stay appropriate)

However everyone (even in your world) has their kinks/fetishes/etc so I think what Rockstar is doing (though I haven't seen it yet) is healthy, hiding sexuality never is, I've seen the results of that too. I'm libertine in my views and see life as there to be lived, people as there to be enjoyed, and games as there to be played. Everything I mentioned involves consent and no one is forcing anyone to play that game, but someone or some group will moan and cry when it does release because their too stuck in their own misery to accept the fact that some people just want to enjoy what they paid for, sex itself is no different. I'd never look down on a sex worker, I've paid for enough of them myself, sometimes life is that simple. Sometimes games are too, it depends on the player, and on the game. There are all kinds of Players and all kinds of games.

I don't think mature gamers will be impressed either, I do worry for children but I do recognize that the game has a mature rating which falls on the Parent and therefore in my eyes all of that blame that could go to Rockstar is completely removed. Parents have no idea what their children are being exposed to, they think they do. The reality is far worse, it's completely normalized from such a young age now. I know this from working with groups who deal directly with the after affects of games like Roblox, a game like that is far more damaging for a child than any Grand Theft Auto.

I see Rockstar as offering a sandbox of freewill, everything that can be done in the game is everything that can be done in real life, situations and resources may differ but Rockstar are a studio who understand the power of fantasy. I'm more worried about the person who's fantasy involves gunning down a street full of pedestrians than I am of the person who wants to slap some ass or do what humans were designed to do. I see it no differently when someone mentions a game like Stellar Blade or that strange Sammy game yesterday that I couldn't stop laughing at. Good for them.

@Fyz306903 I identify with animals more than with humanity/people so my two cents would be that animals lack in that same kind of human moral agency, they aren't capable of manipulation, they act on survival and therefore they operate by pure instinct. People/humans are in my eyes are capable of deliberate cruelty (I speak from experience) making them entirely accountable for their actions, they find it easier to retaliate/feel and express anger against other humans. I haven't rejected humanity entirely but I don't see myself as entirely human either and never would. I see humanity as overrated and if I had to live with the mindset of a human twenty-fours hours a day I'd lose my mind. That's my idea of a living nightmare.

I see animals as better at expressing loyalty and care for both for their Owners and for their own kind. I've been shooting firearms since I was twelve, I've never shot at an animal and never will, but part of my reasoning to understand and operate firearms is protection, I'd shoot back if needed. The difference with a gamer willing to shoot human targets and not animals comes down to their ability to separate a power fantasy from a real Taboo. Animals and pets are sacred to a lot of people, shooting those sprites would be like shooting at their pet.

You could apply the innocent bystander effect to the game. Humans in the game choose to fight, each enemy is generally armed, aggressive and set to unalive the player. Shooting is then seen as a necessary (self-defense) fair even. Animals on the other-hand are simply there/existing, those virtual animals lack that same malice and moral agency. Shooting one is then seen as unprovoked cruelty rather than any kind of tactical accomplishment. I come from a Family of generational hunters and my refusal to take a life is seen not as disobedience but as a weakness, I'll never shoot an animal. I see it as not just hurting an animal, but as not hurting one of my own.

So everything checks out, happy days. I get more upset seeing animals get hurt in real life as well tbh, not just in games.

I was worried the game was going to scale back on controversial stuff because of how woke the world is these days but Rockstar have actually gone a step further lol I imagine taking cocaine is going to give you temporary buff during fights and shootouts. The game rated as having sexual intercourse, would they class as doing the deed in the car in GTA 5 as the same thing despite not actually seeing it happen? It must be a first in gaming if we actually see everything happening full on in GTA 6.

If this was any other game I think quite a few countries would be banning it and they still might or at least ask Rockstar to censor it.

@GirlVersusGame As someone who was also exposed to sexual acts/content at a young age, I'd say it very much IS worth not displaying openly. I keep my son far away from anything like that, he only knows the basics of how babies are born now at age 8 and that's how it's staying for as long as I can. I like to think that curiosity to sexual relationships really only develops at the average age of 12-13 (And at that point it's simply a curiousity of wanting to spend time with people we "like") if we are not exposed to anything like that. Heck, if Hollywood wasn't so insistent on shoving a love interest into nearly everything, then I think it might happen naturally even later. Unfortunately, this game will probably fall into the hands of kids maybe even a bit younger than 14.

@AtlasLivesAgain The Parenting you mean (for me) was a null and the whole thing developed much younger than twelve. Regardless if I had children I wouldn't let them play Grand Theft Auto, but my traditions and yours are worlds apart. You live in 2026 and I don't, I have no equality, freedom of speech, these things, it just is what it is and I don't want nor need them outside of a setting like this, it would only cause turbulence/confusion in my life.

I can't talk about what I was exposed to and I know a common buzzword that gets used for that particular something, but I don't prescribe to conspiracy theories either. I didn't just randomly stumble upon a game or a piece of media. All of it happened for a reason, and my grasp of English and my need to use appropriate language complicates it further. I can't see how sexual content in Grand Theft Auto can't do the same thing. For me it's a necessity and requirement in my daily life, it makes me happy when He's happy, life is simple. That's just my wiring and for myself and my S/society it's quite normal.

I don't understand your society but I can still respect it. I think what Rockstar is doing is right, I get why they are doing it and they are at the end of the day creating a game for Adults. It's up to Parents to make sure their children are safe, I can't discuss mine. Only to say that as a Parent you seem to care, and I respect that. I rarely see sexual content in games and when I do it's to me artistic, these Anime games/etc, I like them. Then I see people called perverts/etc for having a natural reaction and that bothers me. I have people I talk to on here/learn from, I have my friends on the deepweb and I have my normal everyday life. I like gaming but I've only ever related to one character in one game.

People talk about being represented in a game. Be it by gender/sexuality, hearing Rockstar are embracing some form of kink translates to me as 'it's representation'. It's hard to explain but I use the forums here a lot, talk to people regularly and our divides are many, be it social standing/nationality/war/wealth/and my dynamic. If Rockstar can form even a breadcrumb of representation then I'll take it. I'm not going to get it in Hellraiser, it's theatrics and it might end up being the same with Rockstar but it's something. I'm just happy to hear that they are being open-minded about sexuality, I see no shame there. Nor do I see shame in anything I just said, shame was removed a very long time ago. It might make me sound blunt, honesty usually does.

I suppose, like a bird in a cage, it would be overwhelming at first. You'd take time to adjust to a broader form of freedom, but we as humans always do.

I have to say ownership of a concept I can't agree with. My views on life are that it's temporary and like an open door, we just go to another experience when we die, so I personally only have attachment to this particular form as long as it is beneficial or worth fighting for. If I thought I had no chance and I was truly restricted to be someone else's property, I would be inclined to be free or die trying. Not that I advise that for you, but it's just how I see reality. Maybe one day you will feel differently or maybe not. However, this body is not the last place you will be, I'm sure of that.

If you have never had parenting, then all I can say is that I want you to feel loved and so I'm saying this now, I love you. You are worth life, love and happiness. If you don't have that, I wish you will soon and understand your own power.

I don't think everything needs representation, though. Some things are really a flaw in our psyche brought on by past traumas or an attachment to abuse. Maybe discussion without any judgement is better than openly embracing some forms of sexual activities.
