Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Chadley

I think Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth introduce some characters of a very questionable quality, but Chadley's probably the worst of the lot.

The annoying robot boy completely outstayed his welcome in Rebirth, where he would constantly offer unneeded guidance as you traversed the game's more open areas.

To me at least, Chadley represented much of what I disliked about the second game; he was basically the face of its bloated side content.

And so it's not particularly exciting to hear that Chadley will apparently play a bigger role in the main story of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

Speaking at Gamescom (as transcribed by GamesRadar), director Naoki Hamaguchi actually acknowledges that the creepy little freak isn't popular, commenting: "I am very much aware of the reaction some fans in the community had to Chadley."

He continues: "In the previous game, in Rebirth, [Chadley's] role is such [that he was] kind of a guide, a tutorial, to lead people into all of the side content, but his role has actually changed for Revelation."

Hamaguchi then delivers the killing blow, confirming that in Revelation, Chadley will have "some scenes where he plays a very integral part, a strong role, in the main story itself".

So, in essence, the developer wants Chadley to feel like he has a purpose in Revelation, so that he's not just some byproduct of the game's systems. Which is fair, I suppose.

But are you willing to give Chadley a chance? Hope that Revelation has a cutscene where he gets eviscerated in the comments section below.
