Re: PS Plus, PS Now Merged Service Revealed, Goes Live in June

Netbean

Want to play old games easily emulated on potato laptops? Give us 100 quid a year. Want to play the games you already own? GTFO!!!... I am actually shocked how bad sonys treatment of back compat is compared to xbox. I will eat my words if they allow me to access my ps1+ps2+psp classics library, but this sounds like another cynical 'lets re-sell everything' money hungry approach, that sucks, DOA for me

Re: This Week Could Be Big for PlayStation, Say Swirling Rumours

Netbean

What they really need to do is give us the proper native backwards compatibility we deserve. Full ps1, ps2, psp, ps vita AND ps3 games playable, with all your old digital and disc purchases just working and available to everyone (not locked behind a pay wall) Trust me; i'm not holding my breath...

Re: PS Plus Paywall Dropped for PS5, PS4 Online Games This Weekend

Netbean

People are getting really fed up of paying for online access when their friends on PC are getting a free pass, pay walls just go against the cross-platform future of multiplayer gaming. sony and microsoft see this. It's a very expensive killer ace up phil spencers sleeve and damocles sword for sony! Will he pull it? How will sony respond?. I think we don't have long to find out

Re: Rumour: New PlayStation Subscription Will Give Access to PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP Games

Netbean

Wait a minute... they are copying nintendos dumb move by charging a higher subscription 'tier' to access old games that should be playable by default? This is awful news, just ask the ninty fans! By all means combine PS+ and PSnow (should've happened years ago imo) but to lock your backwards compatibility initiative behind your most expensive pay wall is egregious!!! It's like they want us to pirate their old games..

Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Isn't on PS5, PS4, And Fans Are Baffled

Netbean

I own all of them but only my vita can play every one digitally off my 64gb card, FF1,2,3 are on psp, 4,5,6,7,8,9 + tactics are ps one classics plus X+X-2 remaster on vita. Would be nice to get these for posterity for ps4/5 as the great store closure is definitely happening soon. PC folks have emulators so I doubt they give two hoots about this announcement

Re: Naughty Dog Seeking to Bring Studio's Trademark Ambition and Quality to Multiplayer Project

Netbean

In this day and age it better be F2P or it will flounder, it's a blessing and a curse but multiplayer only games don't really succeed anymore unless they maximize their playerbase by being free. I suspect sony sees halos mp going standalone+F2P and they want to do the same with their big hitters as well. They even did a F2P uncharted 3 mp game back on ps3, it was a ton of fun, this will be the same deal I imagine

Re: Many PS Vita Devs Cancel Projects After Sudden PS Store Closure

Netbean

The more I hear about how these enormous back catalogues are being completely de-listed and lost to time in such short notice makes me think sony must have an ace up their sleeve. There is no way they are going to just leave all that history in the dust! We know you got these emulators in R&D sony, just give em to us for cryin out loud!

Re: Sony Locks the Door on Legacy Web-Based PS Store

Netbean

I'm still hoping that sony has something up their sleeve regarding back compat, it still boggles my mind why they don't allow you to play digital games you already bought for ps3 through ps now somehow. I bought catherine digitaly for ps3 years ago, why make me pay again just to stream it to ps4/5? Another thing they could do but just won't

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy a PS1, PS2, or PS3 Emulator for PS5?

Netbean

What really grinds my gears is that native ps1 ps2 and psp emulators already exist on your ps4! They are simply locked away in the firmware and are utilized by a handful of games such as Medieval, Parappa the rapper and locoroco remastered. Hackers/enthusiasts have definitively proven with Jailbroken ps4s that proper legacy support is not only possible but actually exists now... They just refuse to let you use it properly, Jim Ryan needs to get a grip!

Re: Sony Must Communicate Its Plans for PS3, PS Vita, and PSP

Netbean

Closing the store is one thing, but turning off servers for downloads and gameplay is quite another. I suspect-hope they simply close the store but keep purchase downloads going in perpetuity. Suddenly deleting all access to paid for ps1ps2ps3 licences would be a huge story, the internet would meltdown and microsoft would make hay. I'm more worried they shut off all online play on ps3, I predict that's not too far off unfortunately

Re: PS Plus Will Not Be Required for Rocket League Soon

Netbean

Wow psyonix actually convinced sony to drop the ps+ requirement from a game! That's huge! l know F2P games don't require plus but games that transition from paid to free have still needed ps+ for some reason. This is a positive move by sony, I just wonder why Bungie couldn't convince sony to drop ps+ paywalls in destiny 2 when that went free to play

Re: Hands On: Hyper Scape Might Be Too Chaotic for Its Own Good

Netbean

The one thing that bothers me is there's no auto-sprint, everything is so insanely fast I wonder why they have a walking pace at all? having to click L3 everytime after doing anything is pretty irritating. Full button mapping is also needed rather than presets, the core gameplay is chaotic fun, just controls badly which can be fixed, let's hope sooner rather than later

Re: PlayStation Makes More Money from DLC, Microtransactions Than Anything Else

Netbean

Maybe Sony can afford to make online free again then? If they improved PS+ people would have a reason to stay subscribed aside from online access. Holding multiplayer modes hostage behind paywalls is a great way to stifle accessibility, split up your playerbase and lose customers to steam/epic (and soon the xbox too). Sony's greed might just lose them the generation, I really hope not, but arrogant Sony may be back

Re: As the PS Plus Debate Rages, Sony Registers Record Subscribers

Netbean

if MS drop the multiplayer pay wall and Sony keep theirs I will just move to xbox/PC for multiplayer and multiplatform games and use ps5 for exclusives, so will everybody else! It's unthinkable Sony will allow MS to have such a huge advantage for long, I predict MS will make online free and sony will try to keep the plus paywall for a year or so before they realise they are losing millions of players to PC / xbox and the resentment, complaints and bad PR grows so loud they finally cave just like the cross play debacle

Re: Poll: Would You Still Pay for PS Plus if Online Multiplayer Was Free Elsewhere?

Netbean

I own almost every make and model of playstation and an enormous library over 4 generations. I'm an unapologetic sony superfan, but if this is true and MS offers free multiplayer and Sony sticks with it's PS+ paywall; I am 100% buying an xbox for my multiplatform / multiplayer games. If it really happens Sony will either cave or lose next gen, I'm crossing every finger and toe that very soon we can forget multiplayer subscriptions ever existed, thank the lord!

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Future of PS Plus

Netbean

I really think PlayStation (and microsoft) opting to charge for multiplayer was a massive mistake from the start. It made them a huge amount of money in the short term but can't be sustained as gaming evolves. Cross play has shown us that objectively PC is the superior platform. Console players are finally asking themselves why we pay a tax for multiplayer when PC players can have better hardware, infrastructure and functionality, can still play the same games online with console friends (for free) and now play microsoft / sony exlusives with better graphics and performance across the board. It's simply unjustifiable. The pessimist in me thinks microsoft is too greedy and will never turn down money, but the optimist in me sees MS making the right choice by making online free, forcing sony to follow suit, ultimately changing the market for the better. I may even buy my first Xbox if this true, just to support pro consumer decisions. Sony better watch out, next gen is looking like a real fight
