Since the arrival of the PlayStation 4, access to online multiplayer has been part of a PS Plus subscription, and that's very unlikely to change. Still, every now and again, Sony throws us all a bone, lifting the requirement for a brief period to let all users enjoy some online gaming. This coming weekend is one of those times:

Yes, from 18th to 19th December, you'll be able to take your games online without the need to subscribe to PS Plus. The 48-hour window allows you to play whatever online title takes your fancy — not just the ones pictured in the above tweet. It's worth mentioning that free-to-play games such as Fortnite or Call of Duty: Warzone never need a PS Plus subscription; this free weekend just opens things up to premium games as well.

On a related note, a 12-month PS Plus subscription is currently half-price on PS Store, with the deal ending on the 19th too.

Will you be jumping into some online games thanks to this free weekend? What will you be playing? Tell us in the comments section below.
