It has always amused me how much some people care about a number on the screen. Just play to have fun and you'll level up eventually. Why do you care if it is at double the speed or not?
Is prestige still a thing? Where you can reset your level for a medal? That never made much sense to me either. Why would I want to play the game again with all of the crappy guns and perks?
Lol. COD hasn't feigned realism for about ten years at least. It certainly isn't going to start now that Fortnite has proven how successful this model is.
Whoever was responsible for first releasing this game needed to have the balls, guts, spine or other organs required to stick their head up and declare that it needed another six months. They certainly needed to tell them not to delist the original games.
This was a disaster. Rockstar is very lucky that this mud has not stuck to them as it would to another dev.
I think that adapting Shep is a terrible idea. He has no character beyond what the player gives him which means that he will never satisfy the bulk of viewers. And even saying "he" is up for debate.
Very worried for this. They should have just made an original story.
The entertainment industry in general is going through radical change right now. AI is the big one, but also changing viewer habits. The mass lay-offs we are seeing from game devs are happening in Hollywood too.
By all means strike. Get what you can get. Get what you deserve. But just be aware that by most insider accounts that I have read, normal service never resumed after the Hollywood strikes. The suits took that as an excuse to further automate the industry to prevent their employees from ever doing it again. They signed their own death warrants.
Sonic 06 is one of those games that everyone hates but seemingly no one has actually played. I enjoyed it, simple as that.
And a note on that scene where Elise kisses Sonic, let's get real about this: what was shocking in 2006 is small potatoes in 2024. That is not even on my radar anymore. Give me thirty seconds and I'll find you an anime much worse than "just" a girl kissing a hedgehog.
Speaking of losing games, I thought that I would inform those of you who were thinking of buying it that Sega is removing the Mega Collection from digital storefronts in December. Not sure why, I would assume that another collection is on its way, but just a heads up.
"Considering that would make it some five years old, it's impressive stuff!"
I know that you mean, but graphical limitations are often budgetary rather than technical. There are games on the PS3 that still blow a lot of recent games out of the water.
I haven't platinumed a single GTA since 3 solely due to the fact that the promised "hundreds of hours of gameplay" involves things like collecting packages, finding stunt jumps, reaching 100 million dollars etc.
Or in other words, completely unfun and pointless busy work. Most games that claim to have a lot of content don't really have a lot of content.
@Matroska Agreed, it is the controls more than anything else that really hurts this series. I'm not not normally one for "dumbing down" but I would much prefer a single button press over the complicated CQC system of MGS3. I know seasoned players can work magic with it but I always struggled to get it to do what I wanted it to do. One flick of the stick in the wrong direction was the difference between success and failure.
I love Metal Gear, but yeah, it is badly dated. Although ironically not MGS3 so much. It is the game that is universally liked so it makes sense to start with it.
@KawakiisaFraud No one is saying that the PS5 is dead or a failure.
They are saying that the PS5 is disappointing given how many of its games are from one to two console generations ago. I agree with one of the posters above: there has never been a better time to buy a PS5 because based on current trends it'll probably reach its high point about three years into the lifespan of the PS6.
@ApostateMage This is sadly a very real problem on the horizon.
More to the point though, Shep is a character without a personality. It is your choice to make them good or evil, social or a loner etc. You will never be able to please the majority of people.
I see no reason to buy one. The PS5 has yet to even slightly live up to its full potential - and now Sony wants me to buy its discless PS6 test bed for 800? A device which seemingly has no exclusive games and is just a graphics amp for the last decade of games?
I found this insulting a couple of months back and I still find it insulting now.
@NEStalgia You never know quite how other people will react when it comes to spoilers. I guess going by the laws of averages there must be at least one person here who doesn't know about it lol.
@NEStalgia Hollywood in general respected the maturity of children far more back then than it does today. The most obvious proof of this would be Bambi. I know for a fact that there have been numerous arguments behind-the-scenes regarding ''The Scene'' when it comes to a live-action remake.
There are a lot of Disney animated films that would not have been made in the same way today and I am not just talking about the changing cultural values regarding certain groups.
But just so we are clear about this: The review bombing is happening both ways. I've seen some ridiculously high scores just as I've seen some ridiculously low scores. Both sides are guilty of inflicting the culture war upon us this time.
I am suddenly massively worried for the tv series. I was under the impression that the series was meant to be making up for the extreme liberties that the films took by being a more accurate adaptation.
But now they are going to be linking this wholly original content to it? What a soul crushing disappointment this news is. And I bet that I am not the only Harry Potter fan who thinks this.
@Icey664 Stellar Blade makes for an interesting discussion. Personally though, take away the controversy and there is nothing special or unique about it.
There are thousands of fascinating women and black people throughout history that games can be made about. The problem is how they go about it.
Battlefield 5's story for example required them to delete REAL men and their achievements in order to fit women into battles where they had no place in being. That is quite simply disgusting. You cannot be allowed to erase actual people from actual events particularly when they are still within living memory ffs. And when confronted on this, these companies double down instead of apologising, resorting to the tired old bigot card.
Just choose some real people with real achievements. It is not hard.
This is of course why Sony wants to jump onto the live service train. After all, which corporation wouldn't want their customers so devoted to their product that they would buy imaginary shoes?
There is just one, tinsy-winsy problem that they do not seem to realise. And they did not realise it with the COD clones back in the day either. And that is, why would anyone want to buy your game if an identical game already exists?
I will say, speaking for the town that I live in, it is actually getting harder and harder to buy physical even if you wanted to. The supermarkets no longer have gaming sections, the dedicated stores have all closed down, and there are surprisingly few second-hand stores about now too.
I do not think that physical games make money anymore. Those are just my anecdotal two cents.
In fairness, people like us on forums such as these represent a significantly small amount of the population. Any normie over the age of about thirty-five will naturally expect their $800 console to come with a disc drive.
@Jayslow Because - and this is key - it is the biggest failure of all time. ''The Greatest year in gaming since 2020 - which also contains the worst game ever made by the hand of man'' is a pretty big asterix next to your claim.
Oh, and I also forgot to mention, ''contains Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League'' in my earlier comment.
@Jayslow Any year that has Concord in it AKA one of the biggest failures since ET for the Atari cannot claim to be any kind of ''best year in gaming''.
I think there has never been a better time to buy a PS4. Cheap as chips, plays 90% of what is on PS5, and has several features that its younger brother does not.
@Moj500 As we seem to be trading free advice, may I suggest that you should stop throwing so much blind tribalistic love at a corporation that could not care less if you live or die.
@Moj500 Nintendo is king when it comes to gaming. Sony is the drunken prince that is capable of flurries of brilliance whilst stumbling over its own feet a lot.

@DonJorginho That's your opinion. Mine is that she can.
Re: Game of Thrones Star Sophie Turner Might Play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider TV Show
@AhmadSumadi Agreed, Rey Palpatine's faults were no fault of her actress. She has the looks and the athleticism to play the modern version of Lara.
Jolie was the perfect original Lara pick, the modern equivalent imo would be Gal Gadot.
Re: Game of Thrones Star Sophie Turner Might Play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider TV Show
Come on. Be honest with me now: no one here has ever imagined this woman as Lara Croft. Not the 90s fans, not the 10s fans, not the film fans; no one.
Anyone else smell that? Yep. It's the whiff of subverting our expectations. Because that always works out well.
