I maintain that anyone who has only played the modern games will find little here for them. These are technically very simplistic and imo do not hold up.
Still though, there is no doubting the value for money here. This is probably a good present for 90s gamers.

Permadeath is very much not for me. Especially online, where griefers make a sport out of targeting low level players.

But even my cynicism can see that there has been a move back towards Battlefield 4 which is what they ALWAYS should have done. You do not attract new audiences by completely demolishing what everyone originally loved about your franchise. Why is this mistake continuously made?

They had better drop the cringe emotes too. Battlefield back to its roots shouldn't have its soldiers dancing and making stupid noises - I do not know why they ever thought that we would.

The console wars never actually existed. Plenty of useful idiots for many years fought online wars over their console of choice giving these corporations billions of free advertisement.

I would call this a PS1 game but that seems unfair to the PS1.

GTA6 will get away with it. It is the most anticipated game of the generation and many will get ten years out of it (if it's good).

Every FromSoftware game is basically identical. Josh Strife Hayes on YouTube did a review of their early PS1 stuff and the hallmarks of their style were visible even back then.

And this is why they are in no hurry to release GTA6.
I still think that it'll release to coincide with the PS6 so they can maximise the cross platform. Basically the same trick they pulled with the PS4.

What a disastrous decision it was to butcher the soundtrack.

I'm not a trophy hunter but I also think that if you are going to have a trophy system then they should make it user friendly.

I've never heard of them tbh so I have no real opinion.

The falling viewing figures will make their choice for them.

@naruball I was thinking the same thing about Stellar Blade. And I would suggest that anyone likely to buy the game for big money has already bought it. Sales are about enticing those who may want to play it but otherwise can't/won't pay an amount equivalent to that week's groceries.

@AhmadSumadi Except for the obvious fact that the TV show lost nearly half of its viewers immediately after the hole in one. If it was just the gamers griping, then they would have known it was coming.

But believe what you wish. Successful TV shows always have their showrunners leave to do something else despite another season already announced lol.

It is my personal opinion that subscription services in general are dying - especially ones that cost over a hundred pounds. Not only is there massive competition for your money nowadays but the current corporate aim of "you will own nothing and be happy" is just moving more and more people towards the high seas.
I think that Sony really will have to offer twice as much going forward if they are to keep its current user base let alone attract new customers.

The official figure for what constitutes ''retro'' is 20 years. The PS4 release date was 2013.
The PS3 was released in November 2006 and thus has a little over a year left before it becomes the next old man on the block.

Given how easy it is to emulate games nowadays, I really do not see what these devs are losing out on by not putting them up on the store for £5-£10 each.
There are certain old games such as the early Tekken's, the early Gran Turismo's, the early Resident Evil's that I guarantee you will sell.

@Liamsufc1 AI will lead to thousands of jobs going, but it also has the potential to lead to a workers revolution. WFH jobs for the disabled, the four day working week, lower overheads meaning more money spent on what matters.
And as far as our hobby is concerned, lower overheads means more risks, more original ip, more indy devs.

A lot of pain is coming, but a lot of good things too.

FF9 was designed as a celebration of FF1-6. That is why there are so many call-backs and homages, from the design of Vivi to the battle system.
All I'm saying is, if this ends up as a complete remake on the scale of Rebirth then they will have missed the whole blinking point of FF9.

@Oram77 GTA6 will be the point for many. Although at this point you have to wonder if you are better off waiting for the inevitable PS6 version and skipping the PS5 altogether. It all depends on your resistance to FOMO.

@Ainu20 It is objective fact that the PS5 has only just gotten going. If you take away the games that saw a simultaneous release on the PS4 then it has the smallest amount of console exclusive games of any PlayStation by a country mile.
There are many hardcore gamers who have never seen the need to upgrade away from the PS4 for a reason.

And I hear that Diablo is one of those games where only the suckers grind. Deliberately so I might add - they made the game intentionally frustrating in order to sell you the solution.
