Both the film and gaming industry alike suffered from massive short-sightedness during the pandemic. Instead of saving all of this money they were suddenly getting to weather the obvious post-pandemic collapse they wasted it on crap. They seemed to assume that "the new normal" would stick around forever.

@Yousef- Not really. The PS3 was £700/$900 at launch adjusted for inflation. We've been here before.

And before anyone calls me too harsh for saying that, adjusted for inflation, the PS3 was $930 at launch. That puts it above the PS5 Pro. This was nothing more than greed and hubris.

FFX remake first please. Best game in the series but it has aged badly in a number of places.

If the series ended with the first game it would have gone down in history as one of the greats. But they had to keep on chasing that dollar and have seriously harmed their own legacy in doing so.
As with films like The Matrix, Jaws or Jurassic Park, you really are better off headcanoning away the sequels and sticking with the original imo.

This is how the console era ends. Not with a bang, but with multiple greedy price rises that lock out the average man.

In other news: Sony remains confused as to why so many people are sticking to their PS4's. It can't be because it is now dirt cheap to buy and most of its games can be bought for a tenner second hand...

@Donrenardo The irony is, if "generic action man" was a guaranteed seller, Mindseye would have been a hit. That is the most generic action man i've seen for a long time.
I also suspect that companies care more about money than they do about literally anything else. They would choose "generic action man" every time if it guaranteed them Scrooge McDuck money

I will not pay 80 quid for a game.
I simply cannot justify it. I have petrol, groceries, rent, family, other hobbies besides this one.
The industry will die if that becomes the norm mark my words.

@kcarnes9051 If Avengers Doomsday costs $500 million, then it needs to make a billion to break even and 1.5 billion to make enough of a profit to have made the whole endeavour worthwhile.
That sounds pretty unsustainable to me.

We are in the second video game crash. Just because it doesn't look like the first one does not mean that we are not in one. I believe the official total is around 45% total layoffs across the industry these past few years.

@nessisonett That's why I say that i could not care less about graphics any more. We've reached the point where they are already good enough.
Give me performance, story, plenty of things to do.

I have no evidence for this beyond the anecdotal, but kids seem prefer quicker games to adults. Long form games that require a hundred plus hours of commitment seems to be an oldie thing.
This has been a problem noticed by MMO players for a long time.

Not a lot of games let you play as cops, it seems like an untapped market. I feel as if there is potential in a full-blown open world cop game.

Angry Joe gave this a 6/10 and tbh I agree with his reasoning. He says that he is into it, that the game is fun, and it will probably get better with time. But right now it is nothing that you should put your backlog on hold for and it is clearly missing
content.

The original RE3 was incredible back in the day. I know that it seems quaint today but going from a game where the door loading screen was this impassable force field to having a guy that could chase you room to room gave me a heart attack the first time that it happened lol. And when you are playing this blind you really do have no idea where and when he'll turn up.

I liked the main villain Nicholai a lot too. No world domination plot, crossdressing as his sister or magical viruses for him; he just wanted to escape the city and get a big fat bag with a dollar sign on it for his troubles.

Put me in the ''i'm sick of hearing about this game just release it already'' camp. It is possible to kill off enthusiasm as well as wet it, guys.

Couldn't you just look at the art online? Seems a bit pointless in 2026.

Besides which, these trailer numbers do not actually tell the whole story. I watched the GTA trailer via the medium of YouTube commentators talking about it. I still watched the whole thing, several times, but I am not on the stats.

What GTA 6 has not done YET.

Let's see what happens when we get the actual pre-release trailer with some solid gameplay footage in it. I predict that it'll break the Internet.

@Oram77 PSN/PS Plus is incredibly cheap. I'm not being sarcastic either. The amount of value that you get with this service (assuming that you are a regular gamer) is huge.

@Balaam_ I'm not a trophy hunter but I do agree with you. If you are going to have this feature, if you are going to include it for every game, then it needs to be executed properly.

Why can't you delete old trophies? It makes no sense to me. Especially as a lot of old games thanks to the trend of attaching them to multiplayer are now completely impossible.

All i want from a Cyberpunk 2077 patch is the ability to play in third person.
I have never understood the point of games that have incredibly detailed character creators and hundreds of clothes to find and yet have it so you cannot look at your character in-game.
And no, i do not count the inventory screen as "in-game".

The outfits look crap but i find it hard to get annoyed by "free and optional".
The bugs on the other hand...

Games used to be of a higher quality than they are today. And people can ''OK granddad'' me as much as they like. Almost all of the legendary franchises got their start twenty plus years ago. How many franchise success stories can you actually name from recent times apart from Fortnite and Minecraft?

I have zero problem with this, and I bet if you dared to post a poll on this I am by no means alone.
And btw, who wants to invest their time into some dead multiplayer game? Being able to track the metrics means that I won't waste my money.

@somnambulance Agreed. The word "hate" has been overused to the point of irrelevance.
"Love" too for that matter, which is why I did not take part in the poll. There needs to be a middle ground option. Not everything has to be black and white.

What your closest competitor is doing is VERY important. The PS6 will not release into a vacuum.

I do not see the point in watching these things live when I can just read an article the next day.

My opinion is that graphics are already good enough. A few extra blades of grass isn't going to improve my enjoyment.
What I want is performance and value for money.

The fact that they were designed by a woman is completely meaningless. Or are we going with the incredibly sexist and quite frankly dangerous notion that women can not be perverts?
