MindsEye Is Comfortably the Worst Reviewed PS5 Game of 2025 1

Poor ol’ MindsEye, eh? It’s so bad Sony’s been issuing refunds on the PS Store, an option it reserves for the most torrid of titles, like Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 at launch.

And with a Metacritic rating of just 38, it’s now officially the worst reviewed PS5 game of the year. In fact, the title above it – Ambulance Life: A Paramedic Simulator – clears it by some distance, with an aggregate rating of 44.

There’s some context we’d add here: in order to achieve an average score, games must receive at least four reviews from a professional website. With the games media shrinking by the day, that’s not necessarily an easy feat anymore.

Furthering that, there’s a lot of games publications like ours simply don’t have time to review anymore. MindsEye was positioned as a major title so we covered it, but many other titles slip through the cracks. In that sense, you could probably find tens of titles released in 2025 worse than Build a Rocket Boy’s debut, but they’ve likely been ignored.

The point we’re trying to make is, for as bad as it undeniably is, MindsEye probably isn’t the absolute worst game of the year so far, but unless something else comes along, that’s the accolade it’s going to have to bear.

At least it appears to be selling surprisingly well, huh?
