PS4 Firmware Update 12.52

You know there's not much going on in the world of PlayStation when we're desperate to write about a new PS4 firmware update.

The update's available to download right now on Sony's last-gen console, and the single patch note suggests that this is an attempt to plug up some potential software exploits.

"We’ve made some security fixes to the system software," is what the official PlayStation website has to say.

As you may know, the PS4 was jailbroken quite some time ago, and things only got easier for modders when Sony started turning its attention to the PS5 in earnest.

It's assumed that this latest PS4 update and its 'security fixes' is targeting certain software elements that modders are making use of. As such, this update won't mean anything to the vast majority of PS4 users — but those in the modding scene will probably have some work to do.

Are you still playing your PS4, or is it gathering dust in storage somewhere? Mod yourself into the comments section below.
