The Fallout TV show from Amazon Prime is sharing its production team with the in-development Mass Effect TV series, it's been revealed.
One of the biggest shows ever on the streaming service attracted overwhelmingly positive reviews upon its release last year, and now the Fallout production team β from a writing perspective, it appears β is putting together a Mass Effect TV show.
This information comes from an Instagram post from Daniel Casey, who is serving in a writing and executive producer role on the project after writing Fast & Furious 9. In the post, he said: "We have a great pilot script and series outline, the team that Amazon has in place (same team as #fallout including the fantastic @scottfarris) is incredible. Standby for further updates."
Besides involvement from Casey and Star Trek Beyond co-writer Doug Jung working as a showrunner, very little else is known officially about the Mass Effect TV show. With the Fallout TV production crew seemingly at the helm, though, it seems to be in safe hands.
Last year, the debut season (which did more than well enough to greenlight a second one) attracted positive reviews and a large viewership on Amazon Prime. In our own review, we said: "In accurately capturing the overall direction of the games, it forges a new path the series can take without a controller in your hands, all the while replicating its tone and bringing back those classic tunes you had hidden away on your iPod more than a decade ago."

This one I will show up for!
This universe has endless potential.
Yeah if this is treated with the same level of respect as Fallout, it could be very good. π€ for this one!
It'll be interesting if they opt for male or femme Shep.
Personally I thought the voice acting was better for the latter although if they chose that option a certain Scottish influencer will throw a hissy fit...
I hope they don't just plan to retread the events of the game trilogy. The discovery of the Prothean ruins, the First Contact War, the discovery of element zero and the first human biotics - all very interesting stories that could advance the lore of the universe rather than retread it.
@Jammer If they're smart, Shep won't even be in it.
I'd subscribe just for a Mass Effect show. That's a universe with so much you can do with it
Definitely feels like a show that will be canceled just when it's getting good b/c it's too expensive to make. Amazon did rescue the Expanse though so maybe they can just reuse a lot of the computer graphics and costumes from that? π€·ββοΈ
I've never played any of the Me games but I'm assuming it's similar to The Expanse and Halo. Halo had a good first season but the 2nd not so much. And then it was gone. Scifi ain't cheap. At least Foundation is still going.
@Jammer Hopefully they're non-binary to really rile up the culture war people.
Fingers crossed for the series, Fallout was excellent so there's a lot of potential here.
@IntrepidWombat Yep, definitely. Let's avoid the Star Wars problem of having the entire galaxy revolve around the Skywalker's.
The ME universe is huge, let's follow someone else other than Shep.
I think they should do a tv show of the trilogy not everyone has played the games and the trilogy story line is amazing
@Rob3008 Let's rile up the extremists on both sides by completely ignoring whatever it is that they have to say on the matter. Life will be simpler that way.
I have zero faith. π
For me this will be a tough one to nail. They must get the tone of the books and the games spot on. I just think if they change that to make it into something else then it just won't be right.
Not sure whether they should recreate the games with the reaper storyline or create a brand new storyline π€π€π€
@Rob3008 Do you people ever learn? π
