Far too many people seem to have forgotten how to play a game without it going "ping" every few minutes. It's kind of sad tbh.

Let me clue those of you who need to hear this to the inconvenient truth: the only place where the console wars ever existed was in the minds of the customers. The corporations only cared about all of that lovely free advertising that you were giving them.

But now, risks are higher, prices are higher. Exclusivity no longer pays like it does. So they are saying goodbye to your misplaced allegiance to a consumer product that you invested so much of your time and emotions into and doing what they think will make them the most money. Them's the breaks.

Never before have so many people tried to tell me that a franchise is popular with zero corroborating evidence as they have with Shenmue.
Cool soundtrack though, I will give it that.

So in other words, the single player mode will be unplayable once the next Call of Duty comes out and everyone has moved on.
Good job there are no trophies linked to single player then!

Battlefield needs to learn how to walk and run again before it can fight the champ. If it comes out of this scrap with a bronze then it will have succeeded beyond anyone's wildest dreams but a few years ago.

Make no mistake about this: If this game was selling gangbusters then we wouldn't need to speculate on how many copies it has sold. They would be right there bragging to us about it.
And the real nail in the coffin here is that I know several streamers who have been going back to playing 5 and 6. That tells me that they are not making money off 7.

@get2sammyb You say that Sony has barely yet to get their live service push off the ground, I say that the multiple failures in recent years proves that there is no appetite for new live service games.

Live service is no different to the MMO market. How many of the thousands of MMOs released in the last two decades have managed to unseat World of Warcraft? None. And yet there are people who still try, failing each time.

This is a closed market. Live service gamers are not interested in playing new games.

I maintain that anyone who has only played the modern games will find little here for them. These are technically very simplistic and imo do not hold up.
Still though, there is no doubting the value for money here. This is probably a good present for 90s gamers.

Permadeath is very much not for me. Especially online, where griefers make a sport out of targeting low level players.

I've been burned twice. I will not be convinced until I watch my first release day stream of it.
But even my cynicism can see that there has been a move back towards Battlefield 4 which is what they ALWAYS should have done. You do not attract new audiences by completely demolishing what everyone originally loved about your franchise. Why is this mistake continuously made?

They had better drop the cringe emotes too. Battlefield back to its roots shouldn't have its soldiers dancing and making stupid noises - I do not know why they ever thought that we would.

The console wars never actually existed. Plenty of useful idiots for many years fought online wars over their console of choice giving these corporations billions of free advertisement.

I would call this a PS1 game but that seems unfair to the PS1.

Have you ever put your details into a website? Then about fifty marketing agencies already knows everything there is about you.
This is a small, SMALL extension of what you have already willingly sacrificed.

GTA6 will get away with it. It is the most anticipated game of the generation and many will get ten years out of it (if it's good).

Every FromSoftware game is basically identical. Josh Strife Hayes on YouTube did a review of their early PS1 stuff and the hallmarks of their style were visible even back then.

And this is why they are in no hurry to release GTA6.
I still think that it'll release to coincide with the PS6 so they can maximise the cross platform. Basically the same trick they pulled with the PS4.

What a disastrous decision it was to butcher the soundtrack.

@Balaam_ For what it's worth, I agree that they should let us delete these old games off the trophy list.
I'm not a trophy hunter but I also think that if you are going to have a trophy system then they should make it user friendly.

I've never heard of them tbh so I have no real opinion.

The falling viewing figures will make their choice for them.

@naruball I was thinking the same thing about Stellar Blade. And I would suggest that anyone likely to buy the game for big money has already bought it. Sales are about enticing those who may want to play it but otherwise can't/won't pay an amount equivalent to that week's groceries.

@AhmadSumadi Except for the obvious fact that the TV show lost nearly half of its viewers immediately after the hole in one. If it was just the gamers griping, then they would have known it was coming.

But believe what you wish. Successful TV shows always have their showrunners leave to do something else despite another season already announced lol.
