K-pop hall of famer Lisa has signed on as PlayStation’s new global ambassador.
The Blackpink superstar appears in a new trailer, playing a variety of tentpole titles, including Astro Bot, Marathon, Helldivers 2, and Tekken 8.
The Thai singer is one of the most famous faces in k-pop, having debuted with Blackpink in 2016. She’s since had a string of solo hits around the world, with her song Rockstar shooting straight to number one in the Billboard charts.
While details of the partnership are still yet to be fully revealed, you can probably expect to see Lisa appearing in more PlayStation commercials moving forwards.

In the meantime, you can watch the star flick her hair and faff about with a DualSense in the trailer embedded above.

Never heard of her... I don't even know why I'm writing this comment... I'll see myself out.
My personal pick would of been Ado, who I had the most extreme pleasure of seeing at the O2 Arena a couple of weeks ago!
This makes sense because whenever I saw her I immediately thought of PlayStation.
Japan's LiSA > Blackpink's Lisa
Read that as "Blackpool's Lisa" for a moment. Somehow I'm even more clueless having read it properly.
@MaelysSedisia 100% agree
@MaelysSedisia PREACH!!

It's a better face than all of ours, let's not kid ourselves 😘😘🤣🤣
Well she looks thrilled, whoever she is.
Well, I know who Lisa is, anyway...
Isn't that the girl from the Simpsons?
New guest character for tekken 8?
Guess I'm an out of touch old man, but I have no idea who this person is and I don't see any association with her and Playstation.
But sure Sony....you do you
Seems hard to play with those nails.
Who? Never heard of her but I don't keep up with modern day celebrity culture.
Do these amassador deals actually increase sales? I never bought a product because of a celebrity endorsed it
I only know her from Maroon 5 new song "Priceless" which i'm quite enjoyed. I don't know if she's that popular since i didn't follow K-pop.
But hey, i must give Sony the prop since they knows how to hire a good looking & popular celebrity as an ambassador.
@chriswashere313 You've really never heard of press-ons?
@Oram77
I am jealousy incarnate. xD
Wait, did you actually see her (real face and all)? Or is it a form of speech just to say you went to ger concert?
Exemple: I went and saw Gorillaz
We love to see it!
@chriswashere313 It's surprisingly easy actually

Although most of you acting like you've never heard of Blackpink are obviously BSing for reasons too bizarre for me to want to even try and figure out... for those genuinely very not up on popular culture for whatever reason, if you watched the new season of The White Lotus, then you've seen Lisa because she played Mook (despite being in a K-Pop group, she's actually Thai).
Sounds like a good choice, she's easy on the eyes and was good in White Lotus.
I’d love if this meant playstation was leaning more towards games and products from japan and eastern devs. Thats where most of the desired games are coming from
I had to ask my younger friends who this was but it seems like a good pick for Sony, idk
Great, you got that song stuck in my head 🤣
@Americansamurai1 No, they've used celebrities in commercials and endorsements for decades just for s***s and giggles.
@MichaelNau She was on stage in a cage so you could only see her silhouette, either way I can die a happy man now 😁
Who? Never heard of her
I've gone from "I feel old, as the new face of PlayStation has zero appeal to me personally" to "actually, going off the comments in the thread, I don't feel too old as I've heard of her".
@MaelysSedisia Why "bs'ing"? It's normal that a lot of people didn't know about Blackpink because they never follow or not interest with K-pop.
I myself only heard Blackpink name a few times but i never listen to their song and doesn't know who's their members, until last month i watched Maroon 5 Priceless music video that has this girl.
@Oram77
Did she perform Blacklight ?
That bass line slaps so hard!
@PuppetMaster Because hearing of them has no requirement of an interest in K-Pop. This is, "I promise you I live under an actual rock," nonsense.
@MrPeanutbutterz Good job!
Wait is that Mook?!!
@K1LLEGAL One and the same.
She kinda looks like Lili from Tekken

Who from where? 😂
Just a heads up for the people who don’t know her: Lisa is a member of the most famous female Kpop band in the world right now.
For those who don’t know what Blackpink is, it’s a popular K-pop band from South Korea, they’ve had several #1 hits on the billboard charts and have worked together with artists such as Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars and Selena Gomez.
So, now every one’s up to speed, and can stop asking who she is 😉
Don't keep up with modern pop and don't watch White Lotus, so yeah, had no idea who this was either. 😂
My 2 daughters would rather have had Stray Kids as the face(s) of PlayStation....
Props to Lisa and Sony for the collaboration. I am a fan of her music, the girl is a badass. All of the members of Blackpink are talented. Rose, Lisa, Jennie and Jisoo. They all genuinely seem like fun/nice women from the videos I've seen.
Even if you don't follow K-pop(which I don't). You've either heard of one of them or seen/heard them in a song with someone you like. Plus their all over social media doing random stuff. Part of one of the biggest k-pop groups/groups in general in world right now.
Also 4 beautiful women by the way.
Can we get Jello Biafra as the face of PlayStation? He seems like a dude who likes corporate money.
@MaelysSedisia nice!
A bit late for April fools, isn't it?
@Pat_trick ...What?
@wildcat_kickz Don't forget our house special, it's called a Tricky-Dicky Screwdriver...

@MaelysSedisia I don't know what Blackpink is. I also don't know what White Lotus and Mook are. Maybe I'm missing out, but I kinda doubt it.
Should have gotten the whole blackpink. I like Lisa's voice, she can sing, but I thought some of her recent songs weren't good. But I like Chill.
Why? Did she play any game she wasn't paid to play?
@TwinPixel I take it you're new to celebrity product endorsement deals.

Would need to google Kpop much less whomever this young lady is supposedly being the "face" of Playstation!😅
Still hate the real issue being with the retirement of Shuhei Yoshida, most current upper management of Playstation seem to avoid the gaming public like the plague! Whether the PS Blog, or to the likes of Wired or that interview the other week with the vice President of PSN services....let's see them on the likes of Push Square & questions from the plebs than putting out P.R. puff pieces!
Shu was/is popular where he actually played games & knew his stuff polar opposite of someone like Hermen Hulst!
I just read an article about K-pop fans amusing behaviour. At first i couldn't believe that article but now i believe it.
Now I wish Sony didn't hired Lisa or any K-pop celebs but hired someone from Japan, US, or EU who really knows about video games and a big fan of PS. The person doesn't need to look super attractives too.
Well….not in my world.
Didn’t a Government Select Committee just shed doubt on the future of LISA’s?
@MaelysSedisia Oh Mook! Now I know her, thank you. Didn't like her character (but then the whole point of White Lotus is all characters are awful people) but she was good in it.
What on earth is Bsing though? (I'm old).
@Ooccoo_Jr A less vulgar form of bull...
Really wondering what percentage of PlayStation’s playerbase are huge k-pop fans? Must be insanely high for this announcement to make any kind of sense… right?
@Neither_scene Are you asking out of doubt or...?
@MaelysSedisia
I have never heard of her, her group, or white lotus. In fact, up until about a year or so ago I didn't even know what K-Pop really was (except from it being a type of music), until I read a fairly in depth BBC article - I play a lot of games, but have almost zero interest in modern music.
I will add though that the BBC article suitably horrified me as to how manufactured it all is, even compared to other areas of music, and how little some of them get paid / how much is expected of them etc.
@Ooccoo_Jr Oh 'BS'ing. Ok now I feel stupid as well as old.
Removed - discussing moderation
@MaelysSedisia I do not like K Pop and I have never seen White Lotus.
My friend, it is not BS'ing. Some of us just do not watch what you watch.
Who???? I could care less. 🤷♂️
@Gremio108 that would've have made more sense to me,I knew a Lisa from blackpool once , she didnt look like that though 😂
@MaelysSedisia I meant this person being the global face of Playstation is a joke. Most people don't know who she is a she's not associated with games. It sounds like a joke
@Neither_scene if they want to attract new gamers, it's irrelevant how many Sony fans know or care about her.
Lisa's really cool, but Jisoo is my favourite.
"Hit me like an earthquake, ah ha.."
@Pat_trick ...A joke? You seem unaware of her and Blackpink's popularity.
Who's this again? 🤔
Never heard of her she’s fit though
@MaelysSedisia Like most people here. She's popular to you, not to most gamers.
Top voted comment in this comment section:
"Never heard of her... I don't even know why I'm writing this comment... I'll see myself out."
My point has been proven
@Pat_trick Record sales are objective, not subjective. That's proof of popularity, not entries in comments sections voicing subjective views.
@MaelysSedisia Record sales mean nothing in the video game industry. Hideo Kojima is an unknown for most people in the world, but much more popular than she is for gamers.
She's popular in the music industry, not in the video game industry. This makes as much sense as Cristiano Ronaldo in King of Fighters. Probably the most well known footballer in the world, much more famous than whoever this Lisa is, and yet the game flopped hard.
Being popular in one field doesn't make you popular everywhere.
Btw, everyone in this comment section is telling you that she's an unknown. You're clearly a fan and your bias is showing.
@Pat_trick As user @naruball already put it succinctly, "if they want to attract new gamers, it's irrelevant how many Sony fans know or care about her." If you don't get it after everything that's been said then I just don't know what to tell you. And as for your last peculiar mention, my very first comment here was expressing my preference of Japan's pop artist LiSA over this Lisa from Blackpink. Blackpink have hip--hop leanings, a genre I detest. A fan, I am not, I just follow the music industry along with the video game industry and thus understand popularity and trends in each.
At first I read this at a quick glance and thought this was about Japan's LiSA. After a second more slower readthrough I lost interest.
Well atleast I know who the Blackpink group are but I know nothing about its members and that includes Lisa.
I randomly stumbled upon Lisa through some Instagram reels back a year ago. I figured that she and Black Pink would just be a K-pop thing that would come and go here in the US. So strange to see Lisa now blowing up all over the internet.
Not that I'm upset, mind you..she's gorgeous.
@PushSquare you are actually quite late on the news. The collab started a few months back. There was a "YouTube + Playstation Music Night with Lisa back in February, and a PS5 Pro ad was featured in her "FUTW" music video a day after.
Not to much success as I might add, since PS5 Pro is barely selling in Asia, compared to any Nintendo system.
But K-Pop collaboration is not surprising for Sony. With the ever growing popularity of the genre each year, Sony just has to dip in the K-Pop industry (which from concert ads and performances they seem to very HEAVILY be investing in recently). Also their animation studio just released KPop Demon Hunters movie on Netflix, which turned out to be a huge success as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see even more expanding K-Pop collabs from Sony in the future.
EDIT: For those unaware, IDOLs do tend to affect sales on pretty much anything they promote in South Korea, China or Japan especially.
@MaelysSedisia i met a Lisa in Blackpool once and i can tell you now she disnt look like that. If you know Blackpool you can imagine Lisa 😂
I would rather have Keven Butler from the PS3 days back!
Safe to say im not in Sony’s target group anymore
Lmfao wtf was that. So this kpop star is supposed to make me buy into Concord street fighter Mtx edition, and cash grab drift sense releases?
Yah no.
@Czar_Khastik once again, I've laughed out loud, I'll never ever get tired of reading your magnificent contributions!
@Foxhound Thank you, I appreciate it, mate! Also, love your username and profile pic, pure class
@nikolai131 "Not to much success as I might add, since PS5 Pro is barely selling in Asia, compared to any Nintendo system."
Obviously PS5 Pro will not sell as much as Nintendo console no matter who's Sony hired to market it. The machine target is the niche hardware crowd who cares a lot about graphic & performance and doesn't mind to spend $700 from their wallet. It's a premium product. Meanwhile Nintendo console is quite affordable that target low-mid income families. This is like comparing Sony Xperia 1 VII that cost $1300-1400 with say Motorola Moto G Stylus 2025 that cost $400.
I previewed it before even going to this article, but didn't click on it.
Even from clicking and skimming the footage. Wow a bunch of generic inserts to games and 90% flashy lights segments. It's got to be one of the most boring modern ads/collabs I've ever seen.
But I don't care what they want to promote or go oh insert this group here mixed with PlayStation, for merch, for games, for whatever, with well known people. But there is better ways to do it. This just isn't one of them.
Even the GT7 Fairbahn films skit was pretty whatever too.
Give me a good mix of games, this promotional stuff is very forgettable.
I remember more of the older PlayStation ads with better showcases of games, not even naming games but just SHOWING, way more creativity involved in them, then I have any modern era ones being so forgettable.
Wake me up when the PS9 happens.
Even early PS4 ads were better then this was. Where did the marketing team's creativity go.
I thought it was the group or singer I'd heard from some anime but nope.
I can't say I am surprised that the majority of commentators have not heard of LISA before. Sony is targeting a younger demographic here, as they have the very real threat of Gen Z gamers moving away from console gaming, and they need to keep the PlayStation brand relevant for Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
The majority of us 30,40, 50 somethings got sucked in as a younger person in the PS1, PS2 era with some slightly younger 30 and 20 something growing up with PS3/4.
Sony has to constantly do the marketing legwork now to ensure brand loyalty remains in the future for the kids and teens of today.
A good business move overall.
Girl can dance, my god. So fine.
Comment section is funny. Some verging on edgelord
@Kidfunkadelic83 @lazarus11 I lived in the town for quite a few years. Not many things would push me towards Xbox, but making anyone from Blackpool Sony's ambassador would probably do it.
@Oram77 Ayyyyy, I was there too! Brilliant concert!
@Kairuuu We were blessed that day 🙏
@Oram77 Yeah, we definitely were! Her doughnut hair was so cute!
@Kairuuu along with her killer dance moves!
@Oram77 Absolutely! It was a really great show!
@Kidfunkadelic83 wonder if it was the same Lisa I knew 😂
Never heard of her, but good news for her fans i suppose.
@lazarus11 hopefully i knew her before you did 👀😂
Give me Kevin Butler back any day of the week
And why couldn't the Japanese game company Collab with the J-Rock God LisA y'know the better one
@Keyblade-Dan Hopefully they will one day, certainly isn't impossible.
@Kidfunkadelic83 oh you're ok , im free of any unsavouries 😂
No ado wtf Sony she's the best nowadays everyone knows her
I'm 40 and even I know who this is. I like that one Blackpink song I can't remember the name of. It's a banger though.
Probably not my thing, but playstation have shown time and again that they know how to market themselves, so Im sure this will achieve the results they want for their target audience.
Im a little weird so I'd respond better to some of their classic old advertising myself.
Really right now I'm sure their best advert would be:
Playstation - we're not Microsoft.
What ever happened to the quirky edgy commercials that playstation was known for? Now we get the boring everyday action and with noise that causes your ears to bleed
