@Medic_Alert I think its fine you think it will be the more powerful machine. My point is just that the definition of power is arbitrary. XSX has more TFLOPs and TMU performance. But PS5 is also better in some areas such as pixel fill rate and cache bandwidth.
My point is just that I wish Sony would lay it out there because some of the stuff about PS5 is being kept secret for some reason. Why have we not seen something of UE5 fidelity run on any other consumer hardware yet?
@Medic_Alert Having full RDNA 2 means very little because it doesn't mean that PS5 is missing anything. Those RDNA 2 features would be redundant in PS5 based on all developer accounts and official patents from SIE.
The CU between PS5 and XSX are very different and I just want Sony to lay it all out. I am saying this as a software dev with game dev friends who are telling me that there is more to this than theoretical teraflops.
The way you define "power" is arbitrary. I can come up with a definition as well. There is a reason why they call it the most powerful Xbox now.
The customizations to the microarchitecture of both GPU and CPU😂😂 I know it'll never happen but I truly want to know. I don't get why Xbox gets to run with the power narrative when PS5 has shown games that are at least as impressive.
@TheIdleCritic when you use ',' and '.' on youtube you can move forwards and backwards singular frames. And no, the 'X' doesn't appear after the text goes away, the prompt is there before the text starts fading.
Huh? But in the video you literally cannot see how fast it goes because they are blocking the area where you can see when the game is ready/the loading is over.
I don't see how you would be able to stream PS5 games to PS4 as the controllers are much different and PS5 games may have feedback essential to gameplay that the PS4 controller cannot replicate.
@nessisonett I think the reception has been entirely unfair. Yes, its cringy. Yes, it can be misconstrued as a simp sim where you get the girl in the end. But how about we let the game release before we make those judgement calls? It looks like a horror FMV that tries to use a familiar UI that works the same as when we watch streams. I would never buy this, don't get me wrong. But I would LOVE to watch streamers play this. It looks like it would be such a fun time.
@ShogunRok I love that people say Sony is playing it "safe" with their exclusive library. But just think about it for a second. HZD: First RPG and 3rd person game for the studio. New IP. GOW: Completely overhauled the entire game and what it could be. TLOUpt2: Took some risks. I'll leave it at that to avoid spoiling and to avoid the eventual potentially toxic discussion. GOT: I mean who would have thought they would make a freaking feudal japan samurai game? Completely out of nowhere. 4 games that took huge risks taking into account that they are AAA, so I don't even buy that critique. Pretty much no other AAA studio takes a risk like that.
@carlos82 I disagree. I felt like the ending was exactly what the story needed. It very clearly conveyed the feelings of Ellie and it brought it all back to the initial relationship that Joel and Ellie had.
@Scollurio I think there is something to be said about the level of detail, polish, and then the sheer size of the game that shouldn't be discounted. I feel like this game is a brainlet filter.
Word has it that some devs thought their games were going to be shown at the reveal but they didn't for some reason. I believe the Dead Space writer had to delete his tweet after the fact because he was hinting at his project being shown during the show. It never appeared. We'll see.
I am as happy as I can get for this stuff.
The fact of the matter is that even Sony didn't plan for it to be this slow. They obviously wanted an event prior to the rumored June event but COVID-19 put a stop to that.
Edit: If we haven't seen anything by June then you can count me as highly impatient lmao.
Rumor now says July. What's another month gonna do????
@Futureshark fast-travel has always been a trash game design decision. Make traversal more fun, and this won't be a problem. Crazy idea eh? Make traversal more fun in a game with a lot of space to traverse?
@Hengist I can't tell you how many times I have attempted to boot a game and it says I'm missing a .dll file.
In general, modern PC gaming is mostly just playing games ported from a console with PC controls (m&kb inputs) that the game wasn't designed around. Shooting games are trivial with a mouse and keyboard. But with a controller, it feels like you are controlling the arm, rather than just controlling the place your bullet is going to land. I like the challenge that analog sticks bring. I can just connect a controller right? Well, maybe. Sometimes the button prompts and UI don't support my controllers' and for a long time my entire controller wasn't supported so I had to find workaround solutions. That sh*t is just tedious and not why I play games.
I also don't like the focus on digital gaming on PC. If Steam and its back-up servers suffered a terrorist attack, I would lose my entire catalog. Or maybe they just decided to ban me for some reason.
Until some substantial PC exclusive games like those of the past get made I still think PC's for gaming alone might not be worth it.
I do not like multiplatform development of any type. I think it is a waste of resources and it encourages the developer to not use the most specialized/unique features of their target platform just to save them from some trouble later on. The added layer of effort it takes to bring the game to multiple platforms is better suited on just making the content better. That is why I think platform holders have the obligation to let their developers just make the game exclusive.
@OneManDroid You definitely need patience to learn the tools, but it only took me a few hours to get the hang of navigating. Sculpting, however, takes quite a bit longer to learn. Possibly in the 10-hour range.
@MicHaeL_MonStaR They might. But From Software as a company only have so many resources in terms of manpower and time to dedicate to a Sony exclusive project. I think from their perspective it is better to go multiplatform than it is to go exclusive for a whole big scale project like that. Sony could entice them with a good deal like Epic, but epic is losing money on their platform on purpose. Fortnight is funding these decisions.
@Th3solution I have talked to some of the people over at Media Molecule and it seems most of the VR functionality under the hood is working perfectly fine but the stuff that takes time is to make the UI and tools so that the user can actually utilize VR properly. You have to imagine that they have to make tools that allows the player to make VR games but they have never made VR games themselves before. Hand tracking, headtracking, etc. all has to have a new UI designed and created. And also they are a small team that are already working on several different other things of this scale as well. Multiplayer is another thing they need to get ready as well and it is just about prioritizing what to do first.
I think it is reasonable to think that Dreams was pushed forward a bit as TLOU2 and allegedly GOT got pushed back.
Truly loving every aspect of this game. I will say some of the cutscenes and narrative stuff in the middle suffer from not being polished enough and the AI can be far too easy to beat as you get your gear up. But I don't find anything in this game boring. It is thoroughly engrossing and wandering the desolate landscape to Low Roar gives me a feeling, unlike anything I have experienced before in games. 9/10 but I only docked it one point because of the narrative in the middle section. It didn't make me care about the characters until the last act. In fact, I was on the defensive because I thought all the bridges characters would backstab me in some way in the end because they started out keeping the characters and story so vague. Not to say having it vague at the start was a bad thing, but the more shallow narrative execution during the middle made it so that I didn't care about the characters for that duration. It is just hard to connect with characters that speak to you through the codec and a delivery terminal with stock animations or just voice only. The whole last act was 11/10 though.
What makes you think it is Sony's call? I am certain From Software's bottom line is much more important. Multiplatform is way more profitable. Just look at Dark Souls and Sekiro. Why would they allocate resources to a PlayStation exclusive?
@Custom1991 "What do you mean?" https://youtu.be/8BtDPo8cQWY?t=242 It is a complete copy and paste on most of the mechanics, art style, and just overall look and feel.

@get2sammyb I tend to agree, but you have to understand that this is a chaotic choice. It means that they greenlight anyone to use ANY IP to essentially give the game free marketing. Sony would rather have the NDA there and then Konami 'alone' to deal with in court. And not EA, Blizzard, Nintendo AND Konami at once.
"There are clearly legal concerns here, as the company frets over potential lawsuits. But if that’s what has prompted the platform holder to put a lock around this beta, then how the hell is it going to cope with the commercial release?"

In terms of Bloodborne, I am sure the deal is similar to the Déraciné and Demon's Souls deals where Sony would fund development and give them really good margins as a platform holder. It should also be said the Bloodborne was co-developed by Japan Studio so Sony not only paid for the development, and gave them a good margin deal, they also actively developed the game.
