Re: You Could Now Play Death Stranding 1, 2 with Worse Graphics on PS5

@TheDudeElDuderino Can you show me some places that give you a tax deduction or exclusion for having non-default, optional power-saving features that didn't exist until almost 5 years into the products life cycle? You can't. Its dumb to suggest that as even being a possibility.
It isn't an argument, you literally replied to my post and all I did was elaborate on what I said initially. If you think that is an argument then yeah it is imaginary, but imagined by you.

@TheDudeElDuderino No gaming device has ever increased sales by being green, so that logic doesn't make any sense. At the time there were tons of credible rumors going around about a handheld device being released in parallel with PS6. Thats why I said it was obvious. It was about giving developers a place to test out their engines in low power scenarios as preparation for the handheld and also simultaneously providing value to customers in doing so.

Re: Ghost of Yotei's Very Reasonable Dev Budget on Par with Predecessor

KeanuReaves

@UltimateOtaku91 Tsushima reused the engine for Infamous Second Son and carried over some upgrades from the cancelled title they were making.
Tsushima wasn't in full development for 6 years (the cancelled game), and Yotei's been in development since 2020.
I still think my questions here are valid and aren't disputed regardless of whether what you said is true or not.

Re: Ghost of Yotei's Very Reasonable Dev Budget on Par with Predecessor

I have several questions.
How do you know the first game had a budget of $60m? Was that including marketing?
Also Brian Flemming's quote doesn't mention monetary resource costs only things like man-hours and other non-monetary resources being similar to the first game.
I believe that, but I don't know if I believe those resources cost the same today as they did back then. I'm almost 100% sure that the game will cost at least 50% more money to make just by virtue of dev wages rising quite sharply along with marketing budgets.

@Qu1n0n3z I got my PS5 december 2020, its been standing upright in the same spot ever since. Never took it apart or removed its covers to clean dust or anything. Been playing DS2 in 8-hour stretches in the scorching heat of this summer. I've never had an overheating warning. Maybe I'm just lucky.

@Gedrick I'm not going to spoil anything but Ellie's reason isn't logically sound. It's delusional. And that is part of what makes the game's story so powerful because it is a realistic depiction of someone who can't control themselves. She is on this mission out of guilt and a twisted obligation to some "cathartic" justice. It really is a story of addiction in that regard. I mean that explicitly.

Re: The Order 1886 Could Have Been a Big Trilogy of PlayStation Games

Yeah seems like a missed opportunity. I hate to say it but they should have found a way to make their case to Sony, whether that means pulling strings at other Sony studios or whatever. I understand that Sony was in DIRE straits at the time when it came to money. They couldn't continue to invest like they could later on with Helldivers 2.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 May Be Closer Than We Think as Cloud's VA Is Back in the Booth

KeanuReaves

@AinsleyE I agree with you. But I also think I disagree a little bit. I think the overworld in rebirth is a little bit too small for my taste. When I say too small I don't mean in terms of the quantity of things and areas, but I mean in dimensions. Like I wish each area was bigger to make vehicle traversal feel more necessary. Like if I'm riding a chocobo and I begin sprinting, I'm running into some awkward terrain edge or wall within 5 seconds. Everything is quite small in the areas. The airship would also fly across the game world in no time as it stands. Take Shadow of the colossus. It has a MASSIVE landscape and it doesn't feel bad at all to traverse like in so many other games.

Re: Naughty Dog's Intergalactic Unlikely to Release on PS5 Until 2027

The Last of Us Part I (aka the remake) is also considered a new game by virtue of the entire game being rebuilt in the TLOUpt2 engine.
Most people think it's just a graphics and animation upgrade, but it truly is far more than that. Every aspect was upgraded to its TLOUpt2 counterpart. Obviously, it doesn't have newly designed/crafted game content, but it did have completely new weapon handling, enemy AI, and gameplay animation system.

@LogicStrikesAgain I 1000% agree however Astro Bot has surely sold in the very positive end of expectations. Astro Bot has always been a very low volume franchise so far, and this is the first game from them thats been acknowledged universally by all gamers.
Expecting it to sell 10-20m copies is maybe a bit overly enthusiastic, not saying you're the one saying that tho.

Re: 'Gummy Bears' Details Leak, Bungie's MOBA Taken Under Sony's Wing

To say Fairgame$ is DOA is way too pessimistic in my opinion. The few game design details we are aware of already makes it a game that is 20 times better than Concord. Concord was a failure in its core game aspects. People like to gas up the character designs but everyone who played it all agree that the character designs were not even close to being the main problem. It wasn't the vibe either. It was the gameplay and game design itself that was way too simplistic and narrow in scope.

Re: PS5's Awesome Welcome Hub Was Designed by a Small, Passionate Team

@matekomlosi I'm a software dev myself aswell and while I agree you could get something alittle (not fully) like this in a week or so, you have to remember they aren't using any pre-existing frameworks. So they had to build everything from scratch which definitely takes time. Especially when there are so many different gadgets and ways to display them each individually.

Re: Lords of the Fallen PS5 Sequel Prioritising 'Elevated Production Values', More 'Commercial' Art Style

KeanuReaves

@djlard I'm talking about the depth. You can use the remake or rebirth as an example as well.
The depth in that game's combat comes from the various combinations of 3 playable characters each with a dozen unique abilities, and then there is also how you build each of their equipment and materia sockets.

I think the problem in Lords of The Fallen (personally anyway) is that the combat doesn't feel that satisfying and there aren't that many options to explore depth in the gameplay mechanics.

I could be wrong and my perspective could be disproven. But my point is that the art style was never an issue for me. If anything I would say they had some of the stronger art styles in the industry.

Re: Hands On: Black Myth: Wukong Is Brilliant, But We Have PS5 Concerns

KeanuReaves

@Flaming_Kaiser Personally I like getting the limited edition with a steelbook and usually also an art book. I think buying the standard version feels like more of a rip-off as it's just a plastic case with no guide or manual and just a disc. The collector's edition nowadays doesn't even come with a disc I think. And I don't like collecting figures and knick-knacks so obviously the $200-300 pricetag on those will never happen.

So as an early buyer I usually get a version I like that isn't too expensive for my sensibilities. I also believe I have to support the types of games I like early on and that includes certain indies.
