Re: Hands On: Firewall Zero Hour Revived with Operation: Nightfall, But Old Problems Persist

JoshuaTChandler

There are some basic errors in this game that are borderline stupid.

-The lack of rounds or a faster way to get back into the next match.
-Not being able to mute a teammate, even though they are the only person who speaks the language they are speaking and they seem to not care that it basically just amounts to noise on the come.
-No host migration, which may also be why you end up in a dead lobby, where it is trying to fill the teams with those searching, instead of merging two lobbies together.

I'm trying to find the release date for Alvo. If FireWall doesn't want to change some of the parts to their game, then a competition offering the same experience will easily get my gaming time.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Map Size Estimate Suggests It's Twice as Big as GTA 5

JoshuaTChandler

@Nepp67 I think showmanship is a big factor in busy work. A lot of quests or missions are always going to be go here and fight against x more or less, but if the story and characters are interesting then it is more of an experience then a task.

What I really want to see is things experienced through your exploration and not just quest givers directing you all the time. I am fine with some busy work as long as it is well dressed, but the value of the game will definitely be graded by your freedom and experience in Night City. Such as random conversations that can lead to events, or the world being dynamic and shaped by your choices.

Re: Even the PS5 DualSense Charging Station Has Been Hit by Scalpers

JoshuaTChandler

Scalping is going to destroy your chances of getting any well made collector's edition. The moment anything really popular or made with high quality gets released, scalpers are going to grab them all. They'll release numbered editions that only have 2,000 and every single one is going to be sold on eBay. At this point, there is probably full scale scalping "companies" that sit in a room all day figuring out what items to "invest" in for resale. At one point does their efforts qualify them as a business and become subject to taxes and regulations?

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Will Let You Turn Off Nudity

JoshuaTChandler

Some people are comfortable with death and violence in games and that doesn't mean they will be comfortable with pornography. Maybe it has to do with traumas or personal experiences and they don't feel like getting triggered while playing a game.

Personally I won't use the censor because I'm not going to draw anything further from it, it's just a video game with some sexual content. Others have trouble doing so and it's nice to see some understanding of that.

Re: This Is How Tasty Overcooked Looks on PS5

JoshuaTChandler

@get2sammyb I'm looking for some clarification on the cross platform play for this game, I'm hoping you can help me out. I'm thinking about getting this for my mom for Christmas and I wanted to know if it has or will have cross platform play with the PS4. I'm also wondering if I'd have to own the remaster version for PS4 or if I could play with her through my copy of Overcooked 2.

Re: Weirdly, a PS5 Bug Is Causing the Blu-ray to Spin Every Hour

JoshuaTChandler

I wonder if this has something to do with the pause that happened to me while watching a 4k movie. Randomly a brand new movie studdered and stopped for a brief moment before continuing like nothing happened. Until they fix it, the use as the 4k movie player for your entertainment, is put on hold for anything you want to have a smooth experience through.

Re: Godfall (PS5) - Good Combat Means It's Not Godawful

JoshuaTChandler

Marvel Avengers has such a well developed combat system that after seeing how well combat can be done, it makes this game look really cheap. Marvel Avengers has A LOT of bugs and the story/characters suck ass, but the combat is really well done and it makes the game playable again and again. Godfall locks you into light or heavy combos and you can't fluidly switch back and forth, plus the unique moves like using the shield skills or weapon techniques require a pause to zero your animations before you can use them.

In Marvel Avengers you are never stuck in an animation or combo, you can do whatever you want, even if you are in the middle of a punch. Their combat style keeps you mentally active because you can make choices and adapt instantly, and is easily one of the most entertaining and engaging styles of combat I've ever played.

Re: Godfall (PS5) - Good Combat Means It's Not Godawful

JoshuaTChandler

@NEStalgia unfortunately. As is I feel like I was suckered. The opening cinematic makes it look like they put some quality in the title but it is the only high quality cinematic there is, the rest of the story is running back and forth between two characters in the hub area and listening to a few words. In genuinely feels like the game should have been released a year from now, and they just rushed it to make it seem special as a launch title.

Re: Godfall (PS5) - Good Combat Means It's Not Godawful

JoshuaTChandler

This is the only launch game I picked up and I regret doing so. The bugs make it something you have to put up with at times, and for something released at the launch of a next gen console, you'd think they'd want to have it running pretty smooth. The combat is fun but it is not 70 dollars of fun, it could be, but they'd need to add some things that make it more fluid, the game is so rigid at times that you can notice some sort of cool down window for certain animations, and it makes it very diificult to do anything with a faster pace. If they don't improve the game then I'm not going to trust the development team with any other game, and that same goes for Gearbox because their name is attached to it.

Re: Poll: Did You Get a PS5?

JoshuaTChandler

My mom happened to call GameStop before the word about them taking pre orders became widespread and got the information to me fast enough so that I could get to my GameStop and get one. My brother, who got left behind because I didn't think that I'd have enough time to even get mine, got there and got one from the same store on the same day, thankfully it was a Prestige status store, and they had more then others. My mom and Aunt were also able to get one from the second set of in person pre orders, being first in line, they got 2 of the 4 that the store had.

Re: GTA Online's Next Big Update Coming in December, First Teaser Trailer Released

JoshuaTChandler

@Old-Red That's what I was thinking too so I went and looked it up. https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/grand-theft-auto-v/#:~:text=Rockstar%20Games'%20Grand%20Theft%20Auto,the%20game's%20launch%20in%202021.

GTA 5 will have a next gen version available in 2021, and for 3 months PS5 owners will get to add the online standalone to their library for free. This article, unlike others, makes it clear that PS5 owners will keep the online standalone. You have to scroll down to the "Coming to PS5" section.

Re: Hands On: Best Uses of PS5 DualSense Controller So Far

JoshuaTChandler

The development teams looking to be really thorough with their games on the PS5 will use this stuff, the rest don't care enough to want to use all the tools that they can. It has nothing to do with the 3 systems, or 1st party or 3rd, it is about how much a development team wants to put to use, and what level of quality they are achieving with these features and their title. All the features have to do is work well and they will become a staple for high quality games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your First Impressions of PS5?

JoshuaTChandler

The beginning to my console was a little rough because I was unable to transfer data from my PS4 and I am still unable to do so, this has made my launch day a little sour because the only game that I wanted to play is a PS4 game that I have a digital license for, with a download speed that is unfriendly.

I am without a next generation game until next week and I really did not realize just how much it would affect my launch. I went over to astrobots for a little bit to experience the changes to the controller and they were so enjoyed that it led me to almost be upset about the lack of these features in any of my PS4 games. had to stop and consider whether or not I wanted to run out tonight and grab a PS5 game instead of waiting a week. My launch day has been up and down, but overall just the dual sense controller is enough to make owning a PlayStation worth it. While the dual sense controller may only bring technically minor changes to feedback and the trigger resistance, they are still very welcome and I feel as though the absence of them would make game playing less complete.

Re: November 2020 PS Plus Games Are Available to Download Now

JoshuaTChandler

@deathaxe
I am pretty sure that you will be able to because claiming a game is about obtaining the license for your account, and not about what console you're putting it on. Bug snacks does not go into the lineup until the launch of the PS5 so you won't be able to claim it until then, but afterwards you should be able to do so through something like the Sony PlayStation website or maybe even through your PS4.

The other guy that commented to you about this is confused.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want to Know About PS5?

JoshuaTChandler

What I am looking for is external storage that is used just for transferring the games to the SSD with good speed. I don't mind having to wait 10 minutes to transfer a game and I don't think the convenience of not having to do so by expanding the SSD is worth twice the money for half the storage.

Specifically it would be nice to be recommended a 1-2 TB external drive for this purpose, with the transfer speeds making it possible to send 100 GB in under 10 minutes, for under 100 dollars.

Re: PS5 Games Won't Support PSVR, Says Sony

JoshuaTChandler

What I was really getting at is that I disagree with how Sony handles marketing. They did a whole VR week prior to the PS5 pre order and that week only really had two days of news, Minecraft and a sale, they could have said something then. Telling me that the VR is another two years to wait is acceptable, but randomly throwing it out to Washington Post is sloppy.

Re: PS5 Launch Games Have 'No Comparison' to PS4, PS3 Line-Up, Says Sony

JoshuaTChandler

I don't think the line up is that impressive. There are some good games coming out, but not headlines, let's go make press statements about it. The only launch titles that really stands out to me are Godfall and Astros. Everything else has been done before and isn't THAT special, where you need to explain to the people how this magic happened. I would have been more impressed with Destruction All-Stars being included as a free launch title, alongside the Last of US 2 mutiplayer stand alone. Then I'D make a press statement about a strong launch.

Other then Godfall, I will be relying on PS4 games that are getting updated like NMS. They should have just talked about the PS4 games that are going to make the launch something special.

Re: Is There a New PSVR Headset for PS5?

JoshuaTChandler

I would have liked if they were more open about what is going on with their VR. One of the Sony guys said something about not wanting to bring it up because they didn't want people to be buying consoles and seeing more price tags for things, but I don't understand who they are catering to. Having bought a console I want to know what is going on with their VR and knowing that it is going to cost money is something I expect, it is too much overthinking.

Re: Battle Royale Shooter PUBG Will Run at Up to 60FPS on PS5

JoshuaTChandler

I like PUBG for the gameplay and I am excited to see it get some minor improvements for the PS5.

With that being said I can agree with others in regards to the devs being poor at their jobs, and the microtransactions are a little ridiculous. There is some things that you have to put up with regarding this game that I don't understand like glitched lobbies, teammates not showing up for you as a teammate creating moments where you accidently down or kill a member of your squad, and there are some minor bugs like the Kar 9 bullets hovering above the character. These are constant issues that will happen at least once during a play session, not something you encounter once a month but everyday.

Re: Sony Confirms PS5 Media Apps, Explains Dedicated Entertainment Space

JoshuaTChandler

I don't care about Disney, except for the classics, they aren't good at making anything, and I don't like that they can't just stay a kids/family movie company, for whatever reason they have to own ESPN. I like the remote but I dislike having Disney as a dedicated button. I want to know if the pre installed apps are deletable, otherwise I just have to sit there with Disney taking up some space on the screen, without ever being used, kind of like a phone app that you can't delete or uninstall.

They could have a Twitch button instead.

Re: Sony Explains PS5's New Voice Chat Reporting Feature

JoshuaTChandler

I liked that in the past Sony would ban your account for PSN ID names against the code of conduct, when they stopped doing that and just made you pay ten dollars to change it from temp. I thought they went soft or became too much about Money. I like that they are going to start enforcing conduct.

The only problem I have with it is that I doubt people will be able to take a joke, saying something regarding any minority or oppressed people just gets taken too sensitively. If you came up with a white person joke it would be funny because it is a joke but if it is anybody else it's just automatic racism.

Re: Poll: How Often Will You Use PS5 Backwards Compatibility?

JoshuaTChandler

@Arnna
That is part of my point, instead of just leaving your PS4 hooked up, you can sell it and use an external drive.

I understand saving your old PlayStation for a younger person in the household to use, but keeping it to save space on your PS5 is more trouble then just getting a cheap external drive for storage and or transfer.

I should have mentioned the alternative to saving your PS4 for the space, and using an external drive instead.
