PUBG PS4 PlayStation 4

PUBG Corporation has today announced its plans for PlayStation 5 support. The popular battle royale shooter PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be playable on the next-gen system, although there won't be a new version of the game purpose built for PS5. PUBG can only be played on PS5 via backwards compatibility, then, but that's not to say there won't be any enhancements at all.

The developer has stated the title will "leverage the PlayStation 4 Pro build". When you play on PS5, you'll be able to choose a Framerate Priority option that will allow you to play the game at 60 frames per second. The title will also benefit from "faster loading times" on the new hardware.

In addition, your account and thus all your progress will carry over, so there's no worry about leaving your profile behind. You'll also be able to enjoy the game in cross-play with all supported platforms; if you're playing on PS5, you can continue earning those chicken dinners with your pals on PS4, for example.
