Re: Marvel's Avengers (PS5) - Heroic Makeover Still Needed

JoshuaTChandler

The game is a next gen Ultimate Alliance and it really should be played that way. It is about teaming up to fight some bad guys and having fun with the combat. A lot of people and journalists speak ill of the missions in the multiplayer, and I really don't get it. At that point, people are asking way too much from Marvel Avengers. The little missions you are given just serve to tell you where to go and augment the combat, and that's all it needs. If it had more complex objectives then the game would really be overloaded like everybody thinks it is now. Every game doesn't need everything and it cant have anything.

The question and the review basis should come from is it fun, and how much work was put into it. If you don't want a game that is fun because of combat and combos, then Marvel Avengers is not for you. They advertised the multiplayer as the game and basically threw in a campaign, and that campaign is as basic as it can get for Marvel, so I REALLY don't understand why everyone praises it. The game should be looked at and reviewed as a multiplayer game that included a campaign. Because there is other great super hero story games out there, people just keep complaining that they didn't get another one. I liked Ultimate Alliance and I like Marvel Avengers, this is made for me to enjoy. If you cant enjoy it because you want more story, then you came to the wrong game. The game not having YOUR gameplay style in it does not make it a bad game.

Re: Soapbox: PSVR's Crap Load of Cables Has Put Me Off

JoshuaTChandler

A lot of people think that regarding something inconvenient must mean that you are lazy. A minor inconvenience is still an inconvenience, and you should be able to speak about it without someone dismissing what you've said. I wouldn't go as far as not buying it because of this, but it definitely means something, and I'd like to see it brought up like in this article.

Re: Reaction: Why Did PlayStation Buy Evo?

JoshuaTChandler

Esports can be weird to watch if you aren't into games, or you haven't seen one, kind of like Nascar. EVO is really good as an event, something I will actually plan to watch. I hope that the sexual misconduct stuff doesn't deter people from it, but that's cancel culture for you, elimate it just for being associated.

Esports is rising pretty heavily, schools are even starting up esport programs similar to other sports and the bowling teams.

Re: Trophy Hunter Mark Cerny Skips the Platinum if It Requires Online Play

JoshuaTChandler

@get2sammyb I think your neglecting the purpose of some and probably most multiplayers is to have to play again and again. A trophy saying you played a lot is a real multiplayer trophy. I liked looking at my total Payday hours and if I had a trophy saying how much I had played, it'd really be saying something.

The same with the Last of Us except I did not like the campaign. That multiplayer trophy would be easy and it would say that I was a part of an elite group of people, some would say the greatest ever, that genuinely liked the multiplayer.

Re: Trophy Hunter Mark Cerny Skips the Platinum if It Requires Online Play

JoshuaTChandler

@Flaming_Kaiser I did a similar thing with a Hitman game. After doing everything I could and using the trophies as a way to explore, I come to the last one and find out that the game is missing an object to complete it.

The worst would be to have enjoyed the game but couldn't enjoy it all, and that's why you don't have the platinum. Even then, if that platinum means more then "I did 100% of a list", then the game doesn't deserve to have platinum recognition because a real platinum game would be "all of it", not almost.

So it either really means something or it is just a number, and I rather have Sony cater to it meaning something.

Re: Trophy Hunter Mark Cerny Skips the Platinum if It Requires Online Play

JoshuaTChandler

@Flaming_Kaiser Then you don't have it, and that's all that really needs to be from that.

The fact that you cannot get that trophy has now made it a rare trophy to have for someone. If you truly succeeded in getting a rare trophy, someone else didn't and that's why it is rare. You just got the back end of the circumstance that you wanted.

Even if nobody gets the trophy it is really cool and would then be just like video games with a glitch or bug, something stopping the character from going through. Such as Small Soldiers, The Mummy, or the outright broken Turok. You just don't see it as cool because you've developed a personal stake in it by wanting something that you don't have.

Re: Trophy Hunter Mark Cerny Skips the Platinum if It Requires Online Play

JoshuaTChandler

@grant4evergamer You are missing out on one of the best Multiplayers with Last of Us. This is a big reason why there is a multiplayer experience being developed for Last of Us 2. The multiplayer style isn't unique to the game but it easily added value to the game without having to develop a lot more, and the pacing of the game was more or less copied from the campaign, and it ended with a really unique feel to it.

Re: Trophy Hunter Mark Cerny Skips the Platinum if It Requires Online Play

JoshuaTChandler

@Constable_What I feel like I have begun to get a feel for the character in Overwatch when I get their trophy. The complaints I hear about not being able to get platinum because people dont want to play online is ridiculous, the point of the platinum is to do what there is in the game. If you dont like the multiplayer then why should you get a platinum, and why would you want something centered around 100% completion if you aren't going to play the multiplayer part of a game? You are just focused around the "100%" or some claim to being a big gamer (Even though they are often the type to not play any MP games, or just not the "popular" ones).

If you get the platinum because you liked the whole game and it is just an expression of your experience. I had 100% on the original Call of Duty games because I played every bit of it, campaign and multiplayer.

Even games with super rare trophies are awesome, and something you can appreciate without having, if you are not obsessed with the "Platinum".

Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Crucial v1.2 Patch Delayed on PS5, PS4

JoshuaTChandler

I don't trust CDPR, nothing they say is taken as truth.

They released the half assed explanation of what happened and it was just an excuse. Basically saying, "we were working so hard to bring you the best game ever, and we didn't have enough time to finish everything." In reality is was more like, "We attempted to release the game on the old generation and at Christmas time, so that we could get a bunch of money, but we didn't have enough time to finish the game, and the old gen version isn't possible due to technology limitations. We knew there would be trouble from this but you guys aren't going to care because you are adjusted to mediocre games."

Re: Resident Evil Fans Muster Up Hope for Ports of Classic PS1 Titles

JoshuaTChandler

@LuckSource If I am remembering correctly, Code Veronica was not released on Playstation because Capcom considered it to be better, and instead gave PlayStation RE Nemesis. It was not PlayStation choosing Nemesis because of it being higher quality then Code Veronica. Code Veronica is a much better game then Nemesis, Nemesis is a gimmick.

Re: Resident Evil Fans Muster Up Hope for Ports of Classic PS1 Titles

JoshuaTChandler

@Royalblues 2 is an actual Resident Evil mainline game and so is Code Veronica. 3 was a side entry that came to PlayStation as if it was the 3rd game in the series. I can't remember why but I remember it having something to do with Capcom being contracted to make 3 games for Playstation, and something along the lines of them not wanting to release Code Veronica (The original 3rd game) on Playstation.

Re: Soapbox: I Think I Like Battle Passes, But They Do Stress Me Out a Bit

JoshuaTChandler

Battle passes are like Oblivion horse armor. Except they sell you 5 items that are pretty good and then hock a bunch of crap at you to make it seem like you get a lot. The difference is that you get to buy the next 5 items with the coins you get back, unless you fail to grind your way there. I battle pass for PUBG, do great a majority of the time, get far in the matches, and I do the challenges, but still it can easily take 100 hours to level up all the way. If you don't, you will have to spend more money to get the coin you didn't get, so that you can face another tough grind next season.

People are ALWAYS acting like these companies need these to make up for the development, but Activision avoided taxes on about 900 million dollars by sending it to the owner of the rights in a tax haven. The rest of the profits, about 75 million were taxed because that was the employees earnings in the U.K. 900 million went to some mysterious company run by 1 guy and the rest (100 million) went to everybody that makes their games. They aren't using that money because developers need it as income, so the idea that it is about development costs is not a good defense in regards to this practice, yet everybody holds up that shield. U.K. Tax Watch uncovered this and it isn't some made up rant.

Re: Game of the Year: #7 - Dreams

JoshuaTChandler

@fR_eeBritney I agree. They went with a weird style that doesn't appeal to a lot of people, like the cursor icon and the weird humor in the tutorials. Doing so makes it really niche and just makes room for someone to do it better. The concept isn't just create your ideas, share with others, and experience the community, which has broad appeal in its market, but they went with a more childish tone, and it isolates it a little bit. Not to say that a family friendly game/creator is bad, but it won't appeal to some.

Re: Reaction: How Does It Keep Going Wrong for Big Game Launches?

JoshuaTChandler

Developers aren't tasked with being an artist or needing to create art for success. Mediocre games can make profits and there is no harsh reality, where your failures really impact you. EA, Bethesda, Ubisoft, 2K, all of them can produce some basic ***** and sell millions. They are the equivalent of your teenagers "arts", really just some basic stuff that people act impressed from. The criteria for success isn't being based off of the value of what is produced, it is the value of profits made, which are easy in an easily impressed consumer. There is a HUGE market for people who will accept too much compromise in what they purchase. This allows the development of the game to focus on things other then the game itself, and the quality of the game is not a priority.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Aiming to Be a 'Playable, Stable Game without Glitches and Crashes'

JoshuaTChandler

The poor explanation is worse then them just saying what we all know. They made a game too demanding for old systems but wanted the market from the 100 million PS4 owners.

How has it become so common for games to launch in this state? The idea of a game launching could be this massive event, where the world takes part in experiencing your art. Now we are all accepting an unpaid beta tester job, at full price retail for the game. I'm playing on the PS5 and I don't have too much to complain about, but the crashes really takes away from the experience. I'm immediately brought out of the experience and back into some corporate world, where for some reason, a specific release date becomes more important then the game's launch state. We accept it as something that is unavoidable, like there is nothing a developer can do to work on bugs and glitches prior to release, but not every game that launches is crashing on you like this. This isn't an unavoidable part of making video games, this is prioritizing something more then the game and how it plays.

Re: Sony Commits to Safer Gaming Environments Alongside Xbox and Nintendo

JoshuaTChandler

People keep defending hate speech because free speech is important, and in using that as your basis, you just said that it is important that I get to say some purposefully negative things to or about someone. Like some overly entitled douchebags that should have to come across a comment about their character flaws, because it is important that I say that your need to feel protected while you preach hate makes you similar to a brat, whining about what they think they deserve. At some point you have to mature and realize that life isn't there to cater to whatever you want.

The flawed reasoning of how it is important to say what comes to your mind based off of the supreme court is similar to those that would have defended slavery because it was part of the American economy and legal.

The idea that you are speaking your mind means that your experiences in life are hate filled and focused on negative things. Constantly needing to regard the ***** you are going through, leaving you as someone with little value. Instead of pursuing greater understanding and greater circumstances, you need to feel protected while you engage in your life, which amounts to very little when it is to regard the weaknesses of others. I place you in the same regards as you place others.

Now I'm in the same place as you and instead of defending my actions, I will accept my faults, and if possible, change.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Hovers Around 720p on PS4, Drops As Low As 15FPS

JoshuaTChandler

I am playing on the PS5 and I'm waiting for the upgrade before I make a full judgement. So far it is okay, maybe a little above basic, but not something that should be holding records. I don't just mean the performance either, the inability to turn off enemy health bars is clinging to me and I can't understand why everything else can be changed but that. Seems like something that should have been thought of and it is confusing that it either wasn't, or for some reason was, and they still thought there was reason to not allow you to remove health bars.

I don't like The Witcher games so I don't have any predetermined love for CDPR. I'm going to look at the game in a polished state and from there I have to decide whether or not I will get their games in the future. For now, I am a console player and there is already reason to suspect that you can't trust them to deliver a quality game on the consoles.

Re: Poll: Is Cyberpunk 2077's Poor PS4 Performance Acceptable?

JoshuaTChandler

@get2sammyb I agree. I think the amount of players still in the old gen consoles held sway over the development and choice to release it on old hardware. It's a futuristic game that would have been more tasteful with the future in mind. That time could have been spent on the next gen versions ready at launch and could have gone to the multiplayer getting done earlier.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Day Isn't Going Smoothly for Every PS4 Player

JoshuaTChandler

@Gmork___ Again you are assuming that because it was in development during the last console gen, and because it released on the PS4 without a next gen version ready, means that it was made for the last gen. Instead of understanding what I just told you, and seeing that it would make sense for them to have the PS4 version ready faster because there is something like 90 million PS4 players still. What you are using as the base of your proof is not a solid fact, but an assumption with basic "evidence".

4K was already becoming very popular and the use of the SSD is not a surprise. Development teams could have easily foreseen where the next gen would benchmark, and plan accordingly. Plus the PC version is already ready and our consoles will underperform compared to them, meaning the more powerful version is already formed, and there not being a PS5 version is for other reasons then the game not having been built for next gen.

The fact that it is running so poorly on the last gen consoles gives more credit to it being for next gen. GTA has trouble running smoothly on old gen, and your thinking is that CDPR designed an open world game with more detail then a game that clearly has issues with performance. I don't get paid to concept games but I can see that as a big problem, and someone who is making money doing so, would have easily known that their game would perform below acceptable standards.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Day Isn't Going Smoothly for Every PS4 Player

JoshuaTChandler

@Gmork___ They would have known that a new generation of console was not too far out, and probably planned accordingly. I doubt they planned all of this as a PS4 game and then just update it for the PS5. You and all others claiming that it is a PS4 game have no proof to back up what you are saying. It having been in development during the PS4 life cycle is not proof that it was developed for PS4.

I don't doubt that a lot of work was put into the PS4 version because the release date would be at a time where the majority of players are on the old generation, and the next gen versions of the game would take back seat to the market.
