@TurboTom I agree, if this was something done unilaterally by MLB then Sony should stop doing businness with an ureliable partner and drop the licese!
However, that's a spur of the moment reaction. I believe a PES kind of baseball game may not justify their investment on continuing the franchise and considering all they have invested during the years I can also understand why would they prefer to continue it.
But still, if this was just MLB's call then they should have them sticking their license where the baseball sun don't shine

I was not expecting any kind of discount (too late for that) but a psplus package or something would have been a nice gesture, even if it is a couple of packs that will end up being worthless... bascially just an aknowledgement that we are getting the short end of the sitck here

I love straifghtforward platinums, once I'm done with the game I don't have to grind for hours I don't really have so I can delete the game from my console and move to the next one

I agree with your theory (hypothesis), if I don't butcher up what you're saying it is mainly a matter of empathy and how do we come by to it and, indeed, applies to all aspects.

@nessisonett not my standard approach either but the option is there if needed (which was not before).
For example "Record eight or more team walks within a game (any mode - offline or online)." could be one that I may end up boosting, I challenge myself to get walks while playing and 8 walks I might have done once over 10+ years of playing The Show... the CPU basically throws too many strikes

@LiamCroft I wish one day a psychologist gamer studies this phenomena... One basically kills the equivalent of a small town and all is fine, but a couple of animals out there and it's "oh the poor thing".
First guess is that since animals are "simpler", humans on videogames don't feel real, however animals do... either way best not to think too much about this

@nessisonett seems easy, some of them I think can be boosted online for a change

I get the feeling that "you need to strikeout three batters in a single inning with that system enabled" will be easy while playing on lower difficulties, and eventually if you play enough you'll get it with one reliever or ace starting pitcher

@get2sammyb I guess there was little they can do, MLB owns the license and I guess they can do whatever they want with it. Either you accept their terms or you walk out... which as much as I love baseball and MLB The Show is what Sony should do, MLB just prove themselves to be an unreliable businness partner if as we begin to believe Sony had nothing to do with this decision

@Floki The point is only with the MLBPA, there the comparison to PES. You’ll have the players but not the licenses.
I do agree with your rationale but, from a PR perspective this really hurts one of their main franchises so I don’t think they were on full knowledge of this (seems like a bad move) and indeed pros >> cons but when an European site has 180+ about a baseball game and most of them negative I’ll say the cons are getting a couple of good jabs in there

@PapaGlitch agree in principle but seems like I’ll be better off getting game pass on PC than the game on PlayStation

@get2sammyb to be honest this makes me want to cancel my subscription to MLB TV more than it makes me want to get an XBox. However, as someone that was 95% sure I was getting the Jackie Robison edition... now... well... even if Sony is not to blame for this, they were unable to protect their business and consumer, so they are still to blame

@get2sammyb seems to me MLB forced Sony to develop the game for other platforms while (maybe) becoming the publisher along the way and stuck these deal behind their backs.
If it is anything similar is easy for Sony, strike a deal with the MLBPA (players association) and tell MLB to stick their license where the sun doesn’t shine, becoming a baseball equivalent of PES

Excellent review! want to try to play this with the wife but I do wonder how off-putting can the fact of this is a couple that hate each other be?
Not worried about a fall-out but does it distract you from the game or makes you emphatize less with the characters?

@Quintumply my guess is that we're playing someone with some degenerative mental dissease, alzheimer, demetia... kind of the same vibe from Unravel with the old hands playing the piano. There seems to be something disturbing and personal about the house from a narrative perspective.
Having lost both grandparents from mom's side to each of alzheimer and dementia, the whole thing just called to me, if what was going on in their minds were a videogame I don't think it'll be much different than that.
Housemarque gameplay always is top notch and this trailer basically sealed the deal when it came to the story for me. Either way I'm a sucker for loops

@Medic_Alert same here! been farming souls on level 4.1 and hopefully one day I'll make it...
I love/hate these games, I end up waaaaay over leveled for the normal enemies but keep getting quickly killed on bosses, I think I end up being 5 to 10 levels above the recommended level to beat them

This is my main complaint about the game I think, the game is fun enough to play a few rounds a day, but for an online game personalization of your characters is key and if you have to level up 8 times just to buy a skin it just doesn't work. To me it takes away the possibility of playing an extra round or two in order to gain coins and buy a skin, or to be fair the interest on playing to get a skin or any kind of personalization.

The milk example is beyond idiotic, "Tesco" buys the milk to the farmer, then pays transportation, storage, refrigeration, all expenses related to the supermarket, employees and taxes...

I liked this game quite a bit, but eventually stopped playing since I'm no fan of multiplayer games.

@BaronSqwelch I think some modes are team games, so maybe it'll be easy if all you have to do is to not be detrimental to your team and let the good ones win it for you
To be fair it may have a chance on the grounds that there are not that many ps5 games out there now, and even if the scalpers hold a nice amout of the consoles there's enough of a community for this one to make it

@Voltan Exactly, the 50 online wins plus the winning with every character will make this a non platinum for me. The rest of the trophies seem to be the kind you may get by luck

@OMGitsLiamT it is potentially ok, similar situations happens often with several products, and is simply taking advantage of an opportunity.
However, scalping may be considered illegal in some places, and right now they actually have a monopoly when it comes to a certain product, so they're probably walking a fine line there within a grey area

@gusglez as @nessisonett said you’ll have them downloaded and installed which is already good, specially if your internet is not good.
It makes sense if there’s a quick transfer from your external SSD to the PS5. Imagine you always leave 300GB free and move games in and out when you wish to play them

I think the game has been too well liked not to get a sequel, so hopefully they continue something within the world, wether with Jin as protagonist or not

I can see how that can have a negative impact on both the streamer and the audience. So hopefully there's some kind of coherent balance, cases like Persona 5 for what I'm reading are completely absurd.
