Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Games for March 2021?

DrClayman

@Wormold Nah, way I understand it is once you "purchase" it on Plus, your account is locked out of being able to outright buy the PS4 version, same with all Plus games. So if in the future the PS4 version is on a decent sale, which you can also upgrade to the PS5 version for free, you will be locked out of taking advantage of the offer. It's a bit of a sneaky one.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Games for March 2021?

DrClayman

A bit miffed that we can't upgrade FFVII tbh. I'd be fine with even a £10-15 upgrade option, but think that might be the first time I don't redeem a PS Plus game. If I ever want to play it, can't see any reason playing the PS4 version if a PS5 version is out there. And the PS4 one is at full price £10 cheaper than the PS5 one and comes with a free upgrade. I can also see it being priced cheaper at sales as well.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is Another £70 / $70 PS5 Game from Sony

DrClayman

I think what makes it worse is that they're the outliers. If you look at other upcoming PS5 games:

Back 4 Blood - £60
Deathloop - £60
Resi 8 - £55
Guilty Gear - £45

And Returnal and Ratchet are at £70, both SIE published games. It looks bad cause they are the platform holders, which means they don't pay a 30% cut to the platform, yet they are the ones charging more for their games.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update 20.02-02.50.00 Available to Download Now

DrClayman

@deathaxe That's interesting, I've stopped using rest mode since very early on because it only exacerbated my issues. The caddy theory intrigues me, it's just a normal HDD in a caddy, but I've that caddy in PCs and an Xbox before and never had any issues. As you say, could be a specific handshake/compatibility issue with the PS5 and this.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update 20.02-02.50.00 Available to Download Now

DrClayman

I've had non stop issues with my external hard drive. Half the time the ps5 boots, it doesn't wake up the hard drive, need to restart the system to wake it up if I want to play a PS4 game.
If a PS4 game is updating, I can't start playing a game cause the update will error big time and the only way to resolve it is to re download the game.
Also if PS4 games are updating and I even try to access the external drive, like check space or my library, there's a chance of the same error happening.
Especially frustrating when I start up, start playing a ps5 game, and then the external drive wakes up, decides to update the PS4 games, and all updates error cause I'm playing a game.
Rant over lol but that's mainly what I want fixed/addressed.

Re: PS5 Games Won't Support PSVR, Says Sony

DrClayman

I think as good as PSVR has been, it's also been a bloody mess from the beginning, really not well thought out. Using PS3 tech for the move controllers and initially coming out not supporting the Pro's HDR output, I had to constantly switch out HDMI cables depending on what I was playing. Then they had to update that, kinda screwing up first adopters. Then the camera that used a proprietary port, now people have to ask Sony for adapters. And now as the article mentions, you'd need to have two different versions of the game installed to get the best of each. I sold my PSVR eventually and kinda glad I did, really don't feel their commitment on this right now.

Re: PS5's User Interface Runs in Native 4K with HDR

DrClayman

@Woogy agreed. Don't think people realise how much faster it can kill your telly since it's always running at peak brightness. Esp with something like a menu that's bound to have a few static elements. Really hope you can turn it off and only activate it when needed (games etc).

Re: FIFA 21 - A Step Up from FIFA 20, But Must Do Better on PS5

DrClayman

Okay, @710King might be coming off a bit harsh, but he does have a point. I've seen people complain the new Crash game was too expensive, yet splash £60 every year on lineup updates. As good as the games can be, there is zero need for full games yearly. We could start with major releases every 3-4 years with decent overhauls and £10-20 yearly expansions in the years between, with squad updates and minor features. But again, why would they do that when players happily pay full price every single year.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Physical Crash 4 Sales Down 80% on N. Sane Trilogy

DrClayman

Tbh digital cost me less with buying psn credit, around the 50 mark. Which I think is a fine price for a new game, never understood why the outrage for this being full price. It's a new, full size crash game, it seems platformers don't have "the right" to be full price according to some people for some odd reason. Except if it's mario Odyssey of course, and then no one bats an eyelid.

Re: Demon's Souls PS5 Details Digital Deluxe Edition

DrClayman

I get that deluxe editions are nothing new, but the amount is still staggering. If you look at the most recent PS4 exclusives (GoT, LoU2) the standard and deluxe editions were at £55/£65. That has now jumped to £70/£90. Up to a tenner up for each, I'd probably stomach, but this seems a bit too much.

Re: Talking Point: The Last of Us 2 Spoilers Discussion

DrClayman

My only criticism is on length, I think the game would have benefited being a bit trimmed down and streamlined. I think a lot of the time it felt one or two encounters too many to get to the next story beat. Took me 25 hours to finish it, and I would rather have that be closer to 18, so not a huge amount.

Aside from that, loved everything else. Story was brave and great, liked the gameplay enough, and contrary to most people I've seen online, I didn't find it a complete harrowing downer. The game was serious, and dealt with dark themes overall, but I found plenty of moments of levity and fun, and ended on a positive note overall. I had a blast playing through this, 9/10 for me.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

DrClayman

@TheFinalBoss710 It's a games console mate, nothing premium about it. Funny you mention that 450 would be the PS4's price today as opposed to 400, because 450 is exactly what I'm saying the PS5 will cost.

Anyway, you're not changing my mind, and I clearly am not changing yours. As I said, get back to me when the prices are announced. We'll see who was right then 🙂

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

DrClayman

My prediction is this:

Disc - $449
Digital - $399

Give or take $50, these will be the prices. I know a lot of you think I'm lowballing this, and you're welcome to come back to this thread with a big fat "I told you so" when that time comes. I'm quite convinced that's the region they'll go for.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

DrClayman

@Ridwaano you've clearly not shopped for an SSD in a while mate. You can grab them easily at below £100/TB. This thing is 800 gig, and mass produced, so my guess is it will cost them around 100, if that.

And besides that, if they don't sell the thing, it doesn't matter. If the SeXbox comes out at 450, they will not want to be over 500.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

DrClayman

You're all mad if you think Sony will go anywhere near the 600 mark. They want to forget "599 US Dollars" ever happened, they are not going to do that again. I can't see them going over 499 in any version, it's absurd. Especially since they've got competition to consider. Reminder, both the PS4 and PS4 Pro launched at 399 new, they're not going to almost double that.

It would also explain why they're shipping with a tiny drive, they're keeping costs as low as possible.
