It's a great idea, Steam reviews are one of the best things in the games industry, and also one of the few feedback systems out there that makes publishers listen and put things in effect quickly when there's issues with their games.

It's a new game, they announced that a while ago when they stopped actively updating Split gate, think it was a year or so ago? Looking forward to the reveal!

If it goes F2P I'll give it a bash, otherwise not paying money for this.

A fine month, nice and varied. What every month should be imo. A small indie, a AAA shooter and a sports title, and all 3 pretty well received critically. You can never please everyone but surprised reception is so negative tbh.

Tbh I would not be surprised if all of GTA 6's online is behind a subscription, MMO like. And you know it would sell a bazillion subs.

I have it on good authority that something FF9 is 100% happening. I don't know if it's something as simple as a port, or a full blown remake, or something in between, but at the very least I heard they were recording voiced dialogue for it a year or two ago. So at the very least some work is going into it as opposed to a straight port.

If the rumoured Astro Boy game and MediEvil 2 remake show up, it's already a success for me

Wow I'm glad that didn't happen tbh. What now feels like a funny/silly set of collectibles would feel like awkwardly shoved in product placement if that has gone their way. Dodged a bullet imo.

I think Stellar Blade is going to do gangbusters in sales. There was already a lot of good will behind it, and releasing the demo was a great idea, cause it was amazing. I feel people are re-assured now as much as they can be to jump in.

@DiggleDog I second that. 2 is great. Medievil 1 has had 2 remakes (PSP and PS4) and they're both playable on PS4/PS5 now. The PS4 remake also includes the original, so you can effectively play 3 versions of the original currently, but 2 doesn't exist in any form.

I'd love a remake of 2, but I'd also take a PS1 classic release of it in the meantime.

Yeah, quite happy tbh. Been meaning to pick up Immortals on a sale, so that's a bonus being on plus, and Skul looks interesting too. Good selection.

@CVCubbington For Battlefront, each server has a 64 player capacity. There were about 10,000 people trying to play at launch on Steam.

Thank the heavens I went for the Steam version on this and I can get a refund.

@GamingFan4Lyf Yeah, that's fair mate, i think we're on the same page anyway. I could have worded that different, didn't mean specifically base rates, just a better allocation of funds/profits so people don't lose their jobs was my main point.

@GamingFan4Lyf Bonuses/salaries, whatever needs to be done. I realise sometimes the grim reality is that layoffs might be necessary to save a company from folding (so to avoid even more people losing their jobs), but this should be the absolute very last resort after everything else has been implemented. The fact that these companies don't mention senior management pay cuts, stopping bonuses etc always makes me think this is not the case and they go to layoffs first.

Bobby Kotick took 400 mil with him just months before Activision laid off 2000 people. I'm dreading to find out what Jim Ryan will take home next month, cause I really doubt he's gonna forfeit any bonuses he might be eligible for after all his years at Sony to save some people from losing their jobs.

@PaperAlien Yeah, there's probably lots of reasons, but the big factors are overhiring during the covid boost, and CEOs/execs refusing to take pay cuts basically.

But "Double KO" or even just "Double" or "Doubles" seems more likely, especially given the nature of the game.

@Bentleyma Ah cool, didn't know if that's allowed/happened before lol. Seems weird but always thought there was rules about not mentioning other consoles as part of compliance. Been playing ESO for ages as well and they never have added any mention of being an Xbox studio after the acquisition.

@TheArt If anyone's saying that about Demon's Souls, they're an extreme minority, the large majority of people love that remake.

And San Andreas' port was just utter garbage.

You can do a good port, and a good remake. Of course there's bad examples out there.

@Max_the_German Yeah, I'm not that surprised that some of these things are not happening, but really, really fn surprised none of these things are happening.

To elaborate, if there was a hypothetical PS5 remake/remaster version in the works, then I'd see them not wanting to patch the game for business/greed reasons (you want 60fps, you'll have to buy the new version). Fine, not great, it is what it is.

But if something like this is not in the works, which it doesn't look like it is, then why on earth not release a patch?

The fact that one of the most popular PS IPs is just sitting there rotting away is mind boggling.

@get2sammyb Agreed. It's such an important part of PlayStation's history, and it's barely ever mentioned by either Sony or FromSoft. Was quite surprised to see Miyazaki actually talking about it here.

Even a PS5 patch to unlock the framerate would be grand.

@LifeGirl PS3 was a marvel of a hardware tbh, don't think they can ever repeat that. The sheer amount of formats it supported was staggering, especially the early models with PS2 compatibility. And then you had even three different types of memory card slots, blu-rays, audio cds, multitudes of digital media formats, network drive support. Analogue AND digital outputs. Majestic, still have a launch PS3 hooked up.

Oft, if that's true that's so dumb. Dreams would thrive on PC and would have been kept alive for so much longer by modding communities.

@sanderson72 Yo, whaaaaaa? I've only played on PS5 for the past year and a bit, and always wondered why the rumble doesn't kick in when you're getting close to the right point. Just assumed it was a bad design choice until now, didn't realise that's exactly how it is on the PS4 version lol

Yeah, solid selection imo. Had my eye on Sable for a while now, 2K Drive I'd happily give it a go, and Power Wash simulator is fantastic, I've already spent hours on it on Xbox, great to hunt for some trophies now. Good month.

Yeah, I don't own a single physical disk for my PS5, and I've had it since launch. Genuinely believe the next generation of consoles will be digital only (apart from Nintendo).
