@KilloWertz It's terrible, isn't it? I never, ever sacrifice framerates for resolution, but found that incredibly distracting, so playing on resolution mode until that's fixed.
Here's hoping, I played one of those betas, and boy did I bounce out. Combat felt awful, which was the one thing I expected to be good, but the usual Platinum fluidity was not there at all, everything felt so stiff. Might give it one last chance, but tbh there's not much in there anyway that catches my eye apart from the PlatinumGames logo.
If true, it's the best AC news in years for me. After AC Valhalla, I considered giving up on the series, as much as I enjoyed it, there was so much bloat. I paid for the season pass as well and didn't have any energy to dive back in.
Definitely up for a more streamlined experience, I loved it when you'd get one every year, spend 20 hours to finish it, another 5-10 to platinum it, and then move on with your life.
Sneakiest bit about Sony is that you can't buy the PS4 version from the Store on a PS5, you can only get it from the web/mobile store, or from a PS4. It was available before they announced the free upgrade, but then "magically disappeared"
Like, they had a first party studio doing that stuff, before Destiny and the likes took off (Sony Online Entertainment), and DC Universe Online didn't set the world on fire, but it was alright, and it's still going!
And what did they do? Sold off the company and cut all ties.
I wish them the best, but let's see where this goes.
This is not a new feature, right? I remember some PS4 games than asked you if you wanted to install single player or multiplayer first. Not exactly the same, but sounds like a similar feature.
I don't think it's all doom and gloom for Sony, imo Sony usually is at its best when being threatened and tends to rest on its laurels when it's on top. We've talked a lot about how distant they've been from their player base in the past few years compared to late PS3/early PS4 years (and that was when trying to catch up to the 360's success).
I think feeling the pressure will be good for them in the long run, hope we see new, original IPs from them, and who knows, maybe revivals of a few old ones.
If Sony is on the lookout to buy someone, they should look at smarter and more affordable options. Capcom and Squenix make a lot more sense for example, not only are they far cheaper than the likes of Acti and EA, but their output also feels more at home with PlayStation.
@get2sammyb It's more like, what else can they do? If it's either they allow it on, get a cut off game pass on their platform, and allowed to sell the games piecemeal for those not wanting game pass, or the alternative of not having any of these games on their platform at all? Not an easy place to be, but at least the first option they get a small piece of a big pie?
I mentioned this in the other thread as well, but I think that only happens if Sony allows Game Pass on PlayStation. And I bet that's what Microsoft's play is here (not just with Sony, Nintendo as well probably).
I honestly think the long term plan is Game Pass to be available everywhere, PlayStation, Nintedo, toasters etc. I think that's them brute forcing their way in.
If that's the only way Sony is able to get COD on their platform, along with Diablo, Elder Scrolls etc at some point they'll give in. And they'll let them sell them individually as well, they'll give the platform holders cuts from subs, but the hard line will be "Game Pass needs to be there". Just my thoughts.
@get2sammyb it's all on the pricing on how they navigate this, isn't it? Currently you can get GP Ultimate for about £100-120 a year, depending on deals. If Spartacus is, say, closer to £60 a year, and includes Plus, a decent and expanding library of PS1-3 games, plus older PS4-5 games, but not Day 1 releases, I think it will be fine.
If they get closer to that £100-120 pricepoint, and on the other side of the fence that price gets you Day 1 exclusives, EA Play, PC games etc, comparisons will be inevitable, and yeah, way more tricky to navigate.
Regardless of this rumour (which is probably false, as mentioned in the article) Sony just needs to figure out local BC with PS3 now, I don't buy the different architecture excuse anymore. The PS5 had massive overheads compared to a PS3, I cannot believe there is no way to brute force emulation for PS3 when PS4 games not only run, but a lot of the time easily run at 4K60.
Obviously there's the elephant shaped Spartacus in the room, so no doubt a lot of it is down to politics/business, but if they wanted to do it they could.
Ooooooft, that is mad. Tbh I'd still prefer a linear resistance game, but open world is better than no resistance.
Also, Days Gone was a trainwreck?!?! Like, I know it didn't get 10/10s etc, but that is reasonably well liked game, at least from the audience. What are they smoking over there? Is it just God of War-like reception, or it's terrible? Seems very black and white mentality
Yeah, the "up to" worries me in a game like this. Sekiro I couldn't finish on the Pro because of the fluctuation, started over on PC and got through it with no issue. I'm not a "60fps or nothing" person, but in a game like this, steady frame rates are important to me. Might have actually preferred a 30fps lock to a floaty/uncapped framerate.
@Shepherd_Tallon it largely depends on what you like or dislike about fallout. I preferred it to Fallout because it does away with a lot of the clutter you have to deal with in Fallout, it's leaner, more streamlined and less janky. Although by doing that, it's also not a Bethesda like RPG where you can pick anything up, do whatever you like, and as a result of all this it's quite shorter as well. For me these are bonuses, but I know a lot of people really look for that stuff, so it's really down to what you're after.
I'm still convinced that Bluepoint will end up making Bloodborne 2, and this just enforces that theory. Probably a remaster of 1 first, that would also help them understand the back end better and translate it to their engine, before being given the reins.
@Flaming_Kaiser My point is that none of these things affect me, whether gambling, cosmetics, avatars or boosters, have never felt the need to buy into any of it, so it's all optional extras in my opinion.
To each their own though man, that's why I said I get where you're coming from.
@Flaming_Kaiser Haha, yeah, fair enough, but that's a whole other kettle of fish. Sony games also have "special editions" that add avatars and digital artbooks for 10-20 pounds more, so I just tend to compare standard editions, otherwise it's a bit of a rabbit hole. I do get where you're coming from though.
That is very good news. I'd happily throw all of PSN's various messaging/groups etc right in the bin and replace them with Discord. Not saying that will happen, but I'd be all for it.
@johncalmc There was two versions of the original game, one for Japan where you play as the brother, and one for the West, where you played as the father. This remake is based on the Japanese version of the original, that's all.
Nothing much changes apart from the character model and a few bits of dialogue because of that.
A lot of people here seem to assume that Sony okayed this, but I don't think they had any say in this tbh. The Show being on other consoles going forward was announced a little while ago, my guess is Sony had to agree to that in order to renew the license cause MLB (the organisation) wanted to go multiplatform with the game. MLB themselves are the ones publishing it on Xbox, not Sony. MLB basically pitched in big time for development costs, with the agreement that Sony makes it and publishes on PS, and MLB can negotiate their own deals and publish on other platforms. And they struck a deal with MS for Game Pass
I agree obviously with all of the above, it does look bad cause in the end it is a PlayStation first party developed game ending up on Game Pass. It is through an odd series of events that I don't believe Sony had any say (unless they completely lost the license), but it does not look great.
It's frustrating, but credit where it's due, Push Square has published two articles about this, while most sites, small and big, have largely ignored the issue. It's a bit annoying to see everyone rush to put out reviews etc only to ignore reporting on legitimate consumer issues. Keep up the good work peeps! 👍
It's an EU Store problem for those wondering, the North American store seems to be fine, not sure about other markets.
@GamingFan4Lyf It's embarrassing, as far as OS/Store/Network Infrastructure, Sony is an absolute disaster. This is just baffling, I honestly do not understand how difficult it can be to put in your database "If X owns version A, then version B is free". This should not be a difficult thing! 🤣
Bet we're gonna be waiting half a generation again to get folders.

@Reeneman VRR?! Settle down pal, it took them almost 3 years to add folders last generation, I think we'll be lucky to get VRR by 2027 😂

Yeah, their track record is not great with GaaS.
