Re: SEGA Actually Admits Persona 5 Royal-Style Re-Releases May Result in Stunted Game Sales

DogPark

@Sketti Well... "essential" is a matter of opinion I think. Even though I liked the graphic design and music the idea of spending 30+ more hours playing P5 is not appealing to me, the base game was long enough as it was. And I don't mean any disrespect here, but "true endings" are just a marketing scheme for the FOMO crowd. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything playing the base game and have no desire to go back despite knowing there is more content to be had, or different endings etc. Don't feel "stiffed" at all.

But I agree that for fans of the series or any game, training them to wait for the complete version down the road was a bad business mistake. DLC was always about generating sales though, not about pleasing fans with more.

Re: Now Devs Are Politely Asking Their PS4 Players to Upgrade to PS5

DogPark

I know when I get my PS5 I will never go back to the 4, and so I really want to finish all the games I have bought first, and... it's taking me a bit longer to do than I thought.

I always upgrade mid-generation so that there's at least a few games I want that are on sale on a regular basis. Add to that that I need to get a new TV also for the PS5 Pro's upscaling tech. I have the money to get these things but I always have a hard time making myself do it. What do I do with my giant old TV that still works but no one will buy?

Re: Sony Is a 'Terrible Company' That's 'Blowing It in the Games Business', Says Michael Pachter

DogPark

Well, he might be right in that there will be a large amount of money to be made on free-to-play games via a TV's native operating system, but gaming fans here won't be the target audience, it will be very casual gamers or people susceptible to gambling addiction. It seems like that kind of race to the bottom seems inevitable though. He might be wrong about Sony, who knows what they'll do with future markets, but he might be right about the future of gaming, sadly. Might be wrong too!

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About The Last of Us Part 2, 5 Years Later?

DogPark

It's a fine game, but narratively there was no one to root for as all the main characters were just out for murderous revenge. It also dragged on way too long. I wanted to answer that my opinion hadn't changed over the years but weirdly that was not an option in the question about whether your opinion had changed.
