Well, this might be a nice surprise if you're into old school RPGs. Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition has just been announced for PS5 — a remastered and somewhat reworked re-release of Obsidian's 2006 adventure.
This Aspyr-developed revival is promising "refined camera controls, polished mechanics, enhanced textures", and a newly designed, controller-friendly user interface.
That could be a big deal, by the way, because the original Neverwinter Nights 2 is rough by today's standards. It's not saying much, but this should end up being the most accessible version of the game to date.

The developer also confirms that the remaster will support full cross-play for the purposes of co-op, and all three of the title's expansions — Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate — will be included.
Enhanced Edition is out in just over a month, on the 15th July.

The base game is pretty mediocre but the Mask of the Betrayer Expansion is considered an absolute stone cold classic and many people believe it to be one of the greatest CRPG experience ever created.
I won't spoil anything, but I'm glad it comes with all the expansions as the ending of the original campaign was absolutely awful.
Great game and I'm the minority that prefers this one over NW 1.
Love both the games but the conversions to console of NW1 were terrible. Still, I’ll keep an eye on it.
I completed the first NWN three times with different classes because I enjoyed it so much at the time, but NWN2 never made the same impression on me. Think I played it for a couple of hours before moving on to something else.
@Perturbator It was pretty different at first and I recall it taking time to get into but when you do the gameplay is much better than the original. I did prefer the story in the first one however as it was incredibly simple to get into.
I played literally thousands of hours in the first game, but almost entirely online in Persistent World and Arena PVP servers. The game had one of the best toolsets ever, and the online community was great, if small.
I thought I had read at some point that the original source code for NWN2 had been lost or was irretrievable, something like that. And because of that, it would not be getting a release on modern consoles, etc. Is that what it means that it's been "re-worked"?
I slyly hope this means NWN1 will be a ps+ essential game. I should've bought it this past winter, but my backlog slowed my hand.
@DogPark I know The Source Code for Icewind Dale 2 was lost that's why we have gotten that one.
Liked both the base game and MotB expansion. Just hope people don’t expect BG3 level of interactivity from them.
@Areus That must be what I was thinking of.
Man this will be a day one.
The base game was a bit of a let down compared to NWN 1 but the expansion Mask of the betrayer totally makes up for the base being so so. This is an amazing collection! Im so r3ady to turn back the clock! So Stoked!!!!
God this game was great
Is it only available as digital? I don't mind as it's pretty cheap at £25 on the store, but would've like a physical to go with the first game.
