@itsfoz All the skills are terrible at the beginning of the game, by design. It's a slog but once you level them up a bit, it isn't that hard, though I kept using the "simplified" console lockpicking. That was my main criticism of the game actually. No matter how good your inputs were on the controller, you were just going to suck at combat and other skills for a good long time.
I always wanted the decision tree from Origins to be retooled so that it worked. That was my favorite concept for party members but it was just abandoned.
Once all the major patches are released I will be checking out this game. Boo on yellow paint! Nice to have the option to turn it off or back on again.
@Mikey856 Or, there are the ones who wait outside in fear while children are mercilessly slaughtered inside. I can't wait for the mission in this game when you plant evidence on someone!
If a game can be described as having a "gameplay loop", you've already lost me. I'm curious as to what is so "satisfying" about the GaaS games with a good "loop"? All these types of games are grindy and repetitive, nothing I want in a video game.
I know better than to get my hopes up, but I loved the old Crazy Taxi. Somehow I suspect modern gaming design choices will creep in and it will be a very different game...
It shouldn't be a conversation about difficulty, it should be about accessibility. Routinely excluding gamers with disabilities by not putting in any options, when it's entirely possible to do so, as a design philosophy, just makes you an *****. Like an architect that scoffs at wheelchair ramps in the building designs because it's not part of their precious artistic vision.
Looks fun! But still, there's something about 1st person camera that makes it seem.... floaty?... to me. Like not quite grounded in the world you're traveling through.
It would be nice if write ups like this gave some context for what sales numbers might mean. How does this compare to similarly budgeted games in their first X months? Total sales numbers are fairly meaningless once the game starts going on sale, so what were the sales numbers while it was full price? etc.
It's an unfortunately abelist point of view. Refusing to acknowledge that people with disabilities and long-time gamers who's reaction times are slowing due to age might need tweak the game a little for their enjoyment really doesn't look too good in 2024.
Looks pretty and it looks like it might have a pause combat function to issue commands? Hard to tell from the short trailer. I'm definitely interested it just depends on how grindy they make it. I'm very anti-grind these days.
It sounds like a useful idea for those int that sort of game. I would want it sectioned off in it's own area so I wouldn't have to look at it or get useless news about games I don't play.
Romance and relationships were novel when Origins came out but I feel like too much emphasis has been put on them since then. Didn't want to romance anyone in 2 and Inquisition. What I need from Veilguard is a compelling story with well written dialog and choices that make you think before you make them. Relationships are very background for me.
I'm hoping the tone of the writing in the trailer is NOT reflective of the game itself. Not interested in a quip-fest at every turn. The fun banter from Origins would be welcome though, but that only happened in between plot scenes and was more background.
Since the creative leads were driven away by Suicide Squad to start a new studio (and took the good people with them), any future games will be basically from a different studio, and I will have no expectations one way or the other until they release something to evaluate.
I have more games to play in my library still than I have time for, so not worried about the state of things just yet. The resources being put into getting the next big live service game are really what's killing things for new releases. Plus we're still seeing the after effects of the pandemic so I'm happy to wait a bit and see how things shape up.
Spider-Man will always be hamstrung by the need to make this game acceptable for younger gamers. For adults the storytelling will be too safe and boring, even juvenile, but they can't make it too dark like they sometimes have in the comics. Luckily the game play is fun itself so it's worth playing, but I don't think I'll ever be impressed with the writing, which is what makes or breaks a narrative game like this (for me).
Wow, I won't even bother putting the essential games in my library, which I almost always do, even if its not my cup-o-tea. The only other games I didn't add in the past were MMO type games like Destiny which I do not play.
This is the first I've heard that it's a survival game, which is... disappointing... nothing makes my eyes glaze over faster than to hear "crafting system" about a game.

Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake Dev Asks Fans to Give It 'a Chance'
Nothing has ever scared me as much as the original Silent Hill series' sound design and music.
Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Locks in Gameplay Showing for Gamescom
I really hope they took a different approach to combat, and skill leveling too. Such a good immersive RPG otherwise.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for August 2024 Announced
Not bad! Are Lego games as buggy and unstable as they used to be? I swore them off for that alone...
Re: Poll: Are You Sick of Soulslike Games?
Respawning enemies can get tiresome as a feature, but otherwise I love a good dungeon crawl, don't think I'll ever tire of it. Bring on the monsters!

Right up my alley but... graphics and animations look a bit rough
Re: First-Person Action RPG Alkahest Announced, Could Have Real Potential
@Specky I felt Dying Light was floaty too, especially during parkour moments. I haven't played the 2nd one yet so maybe it improved.
