Anyone who's been interviewed by a journalist etc. knows this is par for the course when the edited version comes out. They always put words in your mouth!
The first one had great audio design and a nice story but really terrible combat. I bet it will come to PS5 eventually, I can wait, and also wait for a sale.
I just started playing the first game last week. Haven't had a lot of time so far but it's enjoyable, despite some maddening mechanics, like shooting a bow with no reticle and lockpicking. The best part of it for me is how immersive it is. Good looking faces (mostly) and facial expressions and mostly good voice acting. I like games where I can just wander around slowly taking it all in. I'm enjoying it a lot so far!
I'd probably keep an eye out for games with good reputations that I somehow missed back in the day. It's nice to have some retro options available so I can keep avoiding all the current gen live service crap.
I haven't played Black Flag - is it so different than other AC games? I got tired of the formula pretty quickly and there are probably more AC games I haven't played than have at this point.
I was a huge fan of Dragon Age: Origins but haven't liked anything since. Inquisition was especially terrible, following open world bloat trends and using cheap stereotypes as a stand-in for diversity and inclusion. It will pique my interest if I read about how different this one is compared to previous games but otherwise I'm not that interested.
I barely remember the first one, but do remember thinking it was derivative and I didn't bother checking out sequels as a result. Maybe I'll check out 2 at some point.
I'm playing the Shadows Of Undrentide module for Neverwinter Nights. This is the last of the old school D&D based games I have in my library (BG1 & 2, Planescape, Icewind Dale). Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 still rank highest for the writing and scale of the story, but I am enjoying this current module quite a lot.
I played Fallout 4 last year and sunk a disturbing amount of hours into it. It was fun, exploring was rewarded. The only thing I didn't like was settlement building and that was because it was hard to place objects and even by end game everything you could build still had an ugly shanty town aesthetic to it. There were mods available even on ps4 so maybe I'll revisit one day, but now back to my back catalog!
I don't understand the idea that games aren't making the most of the PS5's capabilities when big games seem to have endless problems with giving a smooth framerate, etc. What part of it isn't being fully utilized?
I feel like my interests align with the reviewer so this is a review I can trust. Open world design in most games is just tedious for me. Add to that I can't stand parry-based fighting systems this sounds like a skip.
I think Days Gone deserved the bad reviews it got, it had boring traversal, bad and even toxic characters, boring love story, repetitive gameplay. The one innovative thing- the hordes- didn't really come in until the very end of the game so it had pacing issues too.
Does the color pop more in different areas of the game? All the screen shots I've seen look pretty drab, and I remember the original game was more colorful.
I'm still on a ps4! I've set my sights on a ps5 for next year, in time for Grand Theft Auto 6. I've been working through all the games I bought on sale over the years, there's a lot of them so I have a lot to do before next year, ha. Luckily, the sales have been such crap lately that I haven't even been tempted by anything in quite a while.
I can't think of a single game that sexualized a male character in the same way with outfits. Criticism of the treatment of female characters is legit, and yes this kind of thing is harmful to women. It's fine if you don't care because you personally like it, but just admit it up front instead of rationalizing it.
This is a money decision nothing more. Live service can be monetized in many different ways and that's all they care about so they will keep pushing this until nothing but some form of live service or free-to-play gets made anymore. The bean counters and execs have spoken, single-player will be a relic of the past.
My old man reaction times are probably too slow for this, usually are with indie games of this nature. But if it's true about an easy mode being added, I'll check it out.
I didn't like 13 Sentinels or Odin Sphere. 13 Sentinels had an interesting story at least, but the gameplay... ugh. Really leaves me wondering why it would be called a "borderline masterpiece". Sounds like it's another game for fans of the existing work, but won't bring any converts into the fold.
I waited for the PS4 Pro last gen and don't regret it. Now doing the same this gen. I'll be getting my PS5 this time next year or so, depends on how much of my backlog I can play through.
I had read this game was being compared to Nioh, which I bounced off of so I wasn't that excited, but then I read this: "Notably, there are different support features that will make the game accessible to those who aren’t as familiar with action games" and now I am interested again!
I don't care, and pay no attention to trophies at all. I have notifications turned off so they don't interrupt my game. If I've ever gotten a platinum, it was inadvertent.
I still remember a certain point you pass by often in DD where a pawn says "blah blah something time immemorial", every single time you went near that spot. Now I cringe whenever that word immemorial is used anywhere I see it.

Re: GTA 6 PS5 Release Window Narrowed to Fall 2025
It will probably be difficult to get a PS5 Pro for a while so this gives me more time to get it before GTA6

Re: Rumour: SEGA Wants Persona to Be an Annual Franchise Alongside Like a Dragon, Sonic
Fine for a new generation of Persona players but I'm already tired of the formula so not for me.

They shouldn't have paid the ransom, now it will just happen again with every little thing.
Re: Rumour: Next Tomb Raider Said to Be Open World, Set in India
I hope they go back to unrealistic gigantic tombs to explore instead of what the last 3 games had.

Sports titles- UGH! Tunic seems fun for my taste!
Re: The Wolf Among Us 2 Surfaces, Offering Screenshots
I was unimpressed with the first game. More visual novel than game. Hewed a little too closely to tired noir tropes for my taste.

Re: 6v6 Hero Shooter Marvel Rivals Officially Announced, But There's No Mention of PS5
I was a comic book nerd as a kid and have an instant attraction to anything related to marvel or dc, but no, hard pass on this.

A totally underhanded way to go about it, they deserve the backlash they'll get.

Re: Preview: Rise of the Ronin Shows Promise, But It's No Showstopper Yet
Difficulty levels are a plus - I bounced off of Nioh- but "standard open world" is a big big minus, I can already feel the repetitive tedium.

Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Starring Lara Croft (PS5) - The New Standard for PS1 Re-Releases
Yes! Back when climbing was an actual part of the game, and not just a tedious narrative sim.
