Baldur's Gate 3 Dev's Divinity: Original Sin 2 Out Now on PS5, Offers Free Upgrade

Update for physical owners as well? I can’t test at the moment as I'm at work!

Some Larian fans also prefer Original Sin 2 to Baldurs Gate 3 while acknowledging that both are tremendous games. It's currently 14.99 on PSN.

So I tried the Div games shortly after buy BG3 and was rather disgruntled to find you can't manually walk around, you have to point and click - so I got a refund...Was that rather petulant... Possibly
Am I tempted to rebuy, even though a serious amount of tutting may be involved - you're darn toot'n 🙂

@IronCrow86 You most definitely can walk around using an analogue stick, unless I’m forgetting something. I’m pretty sure I even played the first game on PC using a controller to move around.

I have been looking for something to scratch that RPG itch, something I can play without having to constantly be involved (possibly turn based) is this seemingly very good timing for me... It seems so.

@SeaDaVie hmm that's definitely odd - I even looked online and it more or less confirmed it was point and click 😐....Maybe an update was introduced - I think it was around COVID time I picked it up, so possibly 🤔

I constantly see this on lists of the best RPGs ever. I’m more of a JRPG guy and have almost no experience with westerns, but still get tempted every so often.

@IronCrow86 No,you can walk around with your analog stick,maybe in the first game it was point and click,but in DOS2 you definitly can,just not third person as in BG3.

@IronCrow86 I’m playing it at the moment, same as BG3 you can move around normal but you can switch to point and click if you want.

I also thought I just missed there was a PS5 version, was grumbling to myself it didn’t automatically download when I downloaded it last week. More fools me, but good timing!

Stoked for this! One of my favourite games of all time. I kick-started the game way back when, and then played it in Early Access before then playing the full release on the PC. When it released on the Xbox, I bought it again, and even managed to get the achievement for playing through on the hardest difficulty without dying, which remains to this day the achievement that I am most proud of, and which is the one I have that the least other people have.

I might just have to buy it on the PS5 this time round so as to try and pop that Trophy... 😉

@ShogunRok well, I think Larian have earned my £12, regardless. Seems a no brainer to grab this now. But I bet there are a bunch of people that would still love a mini-review due to the BG3 effect alone.

If you do find any of this 'infinite time' please send some my way, as I imagine i'm going to end up starting this game "just to see what it is like" and then, well... you know how it goes.

Still playing through BG3 with my gf, we played both divinity games before it so knew BG3 was gonna be a huge hit. Still would say DOS2 was better than BG3

Held off an getting this for awhile as this level of CRPG is so involved for me(200+ hours of BG3 really drained me!). Now that I'm hyped for Div 3 and, Div 2 is on sale, Why the hell not! Didn't realize it wasn't technically on PS5 yet, so unexpected bonus to have a boosted version I guess!

Much preferred this to Baldur's Gate 3. As BG3 was hamstrung by the AD&D ruleset and in being so flexible with the characters and choices made everything a bit vague.

BG3 is a perfect D&D simulator, but Divinity Original Sin 2 is the better game.

@Fiendish-Beaver I actually made a save right at the end of my Honor mode playthrough so I could easily help people out who just want to get that trophy out the way so they can enjoy the rest of the game in peace.

Hopefully Larian added a better camera or at least more camera options. The angle and camera distance used for the PS4 edition was frustrating. On PC at least you could use a camera mod.

What's actually improved in this version? Might pick it up at the current sale price (had it on disc but moved it on eventually) if its 60fps.

I just popped my PS4 disc in and I confirm a free digital upgrade is an option~!

@dskatter yes you just need to have the ps4 disc in when you want to play and download the ps5 update

@dskatter I’ll check once I’ve finished work! Bought the game on disc a few weeks ago but haven’t had a chance to try it, but will check to see what’s what.

I always meant to go back and do a 2nd playthrough with the characters I didn't choose the first time, this may well be the motivation I need.
