Tekken 8 Patch 2.05

The latest patch for Tekken 8 is here, and despite featuring just a handful of balance adjustments — most of which address buggy interactions anyway — it's still a very important update. Well, depending on who you ask...

Indeed, version 2.05 deals with a heinous issue of female characters sharing the same body model. Or more specifically, the same chest model.

This lack of anatomical variety became a talking point in the Tekken community when bikini costumes were introduced earlier this summer. And as it turns out, the overly similar body types were never intentional.

Hilariously, Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada took to social media in order to offer a full explanation, stating that "adjustments have been made to correct an issue where identical chest parameters had been applied across certain characters".

And just to hammer his point home, Harada includes GIFs that demonstrate the changes, clearly showing some breast-based tweaks. We swear, you don't get this kind of quality content in any other medium.

Furthermore, the update adjusts Asuka's character model in particular. It's become a bit of a running joke that the series' most popular tomboy has somehow lost her neck in Tekken 8, so this patch reduces the muscle mass around her shoulders.

Funnily enough, additional Asuka changes are in the works — it's just that, as Harada outlines, "applying major corrections all at once would have caused significant model instability".

Oh, and 2.05 also introduces a win rate display, so you can check your win rates against individual characters in online ranked matches. Obviously not a headline feature given what else this patch brings to the table, but neat nonetheless.
