Re: Physical Purists Won't Be Pleased by New Life Is Strange PS5 Collection

Balosi

@Rich33 there's definitely two disc holders, baldur's gate has one, and I think the last of us 2 ( well the PS4 one, don't know about ps5)
Other compilations have even given each game it's own box, a tales of trilogy, bioshock trilogy came with two boxes on PS4.
Just saying that it would certainly be possible, maybe a little more expensive to produce, but I doubt physical collectors would mind paying an extra fiver to get it. They've demonstrated that they are prepared to pay a bit more if the whole thing is on disc.

Re: Poll: 15 Years of PS Plus - What Do You Think of Sony's Subscription Service?

Balosi

It started off very underwhelming, but they massively improved it towards the end of the ps3's life. I still remember people who had bought Arkham city complaining that it had been put on plus too quickly lol.
I do wish cloud saves weren't linked to it though, I feel that's a bit stingy on Sony, I doubt many subscribe just for that.

Edit: I massively prefer the claim and 'keep' forever model to the game pass/extra one. It feels like you are getting better value for money to me.

Re: PSVR2 to Lose the Support of Its Best Game This Month

Balosi

@Jswift56 there's only three on the other versions too.
As for it being dropped, whether people personally like it or not, it is still considered vr's poster seller. Sony really should be trying to convince them to keep supporting it. Fund it themselves if they have to.

Re: Beloved Ex-PlayStation Boss Believes $70, $80 Games Are a Steal

Balosi

I think it is silly to compare prices of the past, there are so many variables. Especially considering RRP prices are being compared. There really weren't that many people paying 59.99 for games back in the 80s/90s. As a kid back then, I used to make do with 1.99 spectrum games.
The value is decided by here and now. Id guess at a very basic level, cost to make it divided by the size of the audience who wants to buy it. That's why going mainstream, growth, has kept the price pretty stagnant the last few years, despite inflating costs to produce. Id guess to push to make them more expensive is because the audience is not growing any more.

Re: Expedition 33 Dev Working Around the Clock to Re-Stock Boxed PS5 Copies

Rpg fans are probably one of the biggest defenders of physical left. I know that from experience, if you don't preorder a rpg or grab one fast then you can be in for a wait.
They have reasons other than nostalgia or collecting too, rpg's tend to hold their financial value, they age better. Each one has its own unique gameplay and story that doesn't get devalued by the next one.

Re: PS3's Resistance Games Not Playable on PS5, PS4 at All After Just 6 Months

Balosi

It's probably just a case of not many people playing them, (if any?) Does anyone even use the PS3 streaming regularly?
Original ps3's are still pretty cheap to get hold of (though slowly creeping up) and these games are still bargain basement prices, I'd imagine that what most people who still want to play PS3 games are doing.

Re: PS5 Suddenly a Hot Product in Japan, But as a Rental

Balosi

@Jrs1 renting out things used to be huge, in theory it suits some people especially the less well off. The 36 month contract part makes that particular one seem a bit unattractive though.
Edit : and I'm assuming that it's probably got lower credit rating requirements than places like Argos.

Re: PS5 Suddenly a Hot Product in Japan, But as a Rental

Balosi

@SelinaInTheOubliette I remember renting games out too. Even before blockbuster the local video shops would sometimes have a small selection of megadrive/SNES games.
I even rented out a second ps1 and two copies of doom once so we could try it multiplayer. Which was awesome at the time.

Re: PS Plus Price Increases Confirmed for 15 Countries by Sony

Balosi

@Kanji-Tatsumi I think the main reason is Xbox 360 managed to do really well, despite having paid online. They weren't even offering any monthly games.
Xbox 360s had a ridiculously cheap console purchase though, was half the price of a PS3 at one point.
I'm not sure if monthly subscriptions are making consoles cheaper any more, but that was how the concept took off.

Re: Druckmann on The Last of Us HBO Story Outpacing the Games: 'I Leave Nothing on the Line'

Balosi

I think maybe obsessing with a perfect end can be detrimental to a TV show. Game of thrones is obviously the most famous example, but to me umbrella academy is the most glaring one. The show was clearly cancelled with a rushed in ending.
Unless you've got a definitive ending in mind, it might just be best to keep going and just leave the show hanging if it does get cancelled for whatever reason, leave the end to the viewers imaginations rather than some awfully placed full stop attempt.
