@KaijuKaiser I've always been open minded about final fantasy games, ran out and bought immediately regardless of the press and rumours, and enjoyed them.
This one feels different though, maybe it's just the tone of the interviews, I hope I'm wrong, but it does feel like it's being made by people who see the things I like about final fantasy as things to get rid of.

I'll play it for sure.

@NEStalgia I'm not overly hyped for this game, but square enix have put out a ton of decent RPGs over the last couple of years, even daring to go a bit a 'out there' like the underrated (imo) dungeon encounters.
This game isn't for me, and judging by the interviews the creators seem to be quite proud that it isn't, but square have released a lot of games that are so I can't get too annoyed at them.

Oof that Activision statement. They'd probably be better off keeping quiet than putting out stuff like that.

@ItsBritneyB_tch dreams is so cool, Sony really should make it free to play or something, ps+ at least.

@themcnoisy the current ai uses the internet data from human artists to produce its works, (well as far as my limited knowledge sees it anyway).
I assume, based on that, artists will still be able to be able to produce work that it is unable to. Though whether people will bother when AI will just take it and add it to the algorithm is questionable.
If no humans are producing art then ai is just going to have to rely on the same source material forever.

It's still going to need a heavy human presence I think, at least for the time being. If they just dump a load of ai text in unedited it's going to be a mess.
I've tried getting ai bots to write it's own sci-fi, and it's not very interesting, it's obsessed with time loops for some reason.

@belmont the reaction to Nintendo shutting the stores has been very similar to what Sony got. Nintendo just don't care about it apparantly.

Playstation has been the jrpg fans favourite console brand for years so yeah its pretty clear some money was paid to keep it away.
Still at this point, maybe they think most people who want to play 1 already have in some form, so it's not worth it any more.

How is the same character across different games going to work? All games are so different.
Only example I can think of is Nintendo's miis and they didn't exactly set the world on fire.

@Amnesiac no though I do remember that one too for some reason, this one was a big wheel on the controller, just had to Google it so I didn't dream it or something lol.

I bought a PS4 pro and to be honest, never really felt the difference. I never compared them directly so maybe there was something. When I played on a friend's PS4 I didn't notice anything that made me wish I was on the pro.
But still, if a ps5 pro follows the same path as the PS4 pro, it won't affect the base model negatively in any way, more something to keep the frame rate watchers happy.

@get2sammyb I had that weird jogcon controller, it worked pretty well, like a minimalistic steering wheel lol.

The graphics for type 4 were stunning at the time, seemed a class above anything else on playstation for some reason, more of a next gen game.
Though I don't know how well that translates nowadays, I remember the gameplay being solid too though.

@Kelrics90 stop accepting 30fps? If people are unbothered by it then good for them.

I loved system shock 2 at the time. I never played 1 though, I'll prob give it a try, assuming it comes out in my lifetime.

I guess it'd keep the FPS chasers happy. I'm not sure I'd buy it though.

This 'limited time' thing is a major flaw for digital gaming, it's going to have to figure out how to solve it if it really wants to remove physical altogether.
Sure there's a lot of live for the moment gamers who don't care, but there's just as many who want to buy things that they feel like they own I think.

@StrawberryWave yes I agree. But I do tend to buy a lot of cheap digital stuff, sales etc. I figure under £20 or so I'm prepared to lose the perks of physical. More expensive games, yes physical definitely.

Doesn't surprise me that the high price games are still favoured physically. Don't think I've ever spent over £20 on a single digital game.

@GamingFan4Lyf they are considered the shopkeeper I guess. I suppose it's on them to get it back from EA.

It's a tough one, they usually bring up trading cards as a defence, which is honestly quite a powerful one.
Though FIFA is (I assume) a very competitive game where the top draws give an advantage? That probably pushes them above trading cards.

In their defence they haven't stated that they are going to landfill have they? We're assuming a bit there I think.
Though they've never appealed to me either. I suspect it's just another product that most people are buying in the hope they are worth more one day.

@KaijuKaiser that's subjective I guess. I've personally got no issue with characters standing around waiting their turn, I enjoy it even, I don't really get anything out of the free for all's of action RPGs.

Edit: especially party based RPGs. What do I care what two NPC characters I have no control over mostly out of sight win or not?

@KaijuKaiser it's only fondly remembered because it's a highlight of the turn based age, I'm pretty sure turning it into an action RPG would lose most of its current fan base and not really have anything that a new ip wouldn't to attract a new one.

To the people tired of reading about it.. how about not reading about it? I know it's a wild idea but still..

@cburg Microsoft is a competitor though. They have been in the business for years and have tons of money and experience. They actually did start overtaking Sony during the PS3/360 era.
They aren't a startup in need of a leg up for competitions sake.

@Fiendish-Beaver yeah it looks like a fine place to start. Final fantasy is many completely separate stories that just tend to share similar things, like monster types and (previously) spells etc

I'm still not sold sadly. Change sure, but a complete genre change is going to lose some people I'm afraid, sure maybe gain even more as well though if it goes well for them.

I'd probably have convinced myself to buy this if it came with a physical copy. Well stingy of them not to include one when they are asking for that much money.

@LilyGoMEOW I didn't realise they'd even attempted to blank it out until I'd seen the bigger picture lol.

I remember reading some article ages ago about this being a pretty power hungry game. I think the Devs were being asked about it coming to PS4/xbone at the time, and they weren't powerful enough.
Split screen obviously increases the drain even more.

@Th3solution I think dreams could work out one day. It really is something special, just needs whatever spark it is that grabs the wider attention.

@IOI it's interesting news that will affect us. What is toxic about reporting on it? Noone's getting bullied. If you don't want to read what people think about the situation then it's easy enough to ignore articles about it.

Most people are aware they have bundles of money, they are not going under regardless of their seeming inability to turn it into decent original games.

@Toypop given the cod focus on the whole thing, it seems pretty certain a buyout is going to come with a 'cod must remain available on all systems' clause regardless of whether Sony sign Microsoft's pantomime contract.

@sanderson72 Sony sold the everquest game though, so who knows who those games actually belong to nowadays.

The store page for this is very umm... No screenshots, no mention that they are nes and Gameboy games.
I suppose anyone who's got any interest in bill and ted nowadays would be aware anyway, they don't seem to have caught younger generations imagination as far as I know, but still seems misleading.

Well if street fighter 6 has new mechanics that nobody has got used to yet, I guess it's probably the best chance a new player is going to get.
It does tend to be easier to win online matches in the first few months of a new street fighter game.
Then people start dropping off leaving all the hardcore SF pros ready to wipe the floor with you.

@belmont neither of those games appear to be available for EU PS3 (any more?) Perhaps their removal means they aren't linked any more? I'm very much in guess territory though.

@belmont yeah re directors cut is definitely not purchasable. You just get a subscribe option.
You could potentially buy it on PS3 (if it's still there) and maybe it'll become owned on ps5 too, but that's just a guess.

Edit : it is still available on PS3. Buying it probably would activate it on ps5.
Though legend of dragoon was never available on PS3 in Europe so that won't work here if you can't buy straight from ps5

@MakersMark it's the actions of a few, the vast majority of people behave perfectly normally even when they know noone is watching. At least I strongly believe that.

@Bez87 it's very open ended, as it's supposed to be I guess. There's plenty of things that make you side with Joel in the original, most notably the fireflies awful handling of the situation when Joel and Ellie reach them.
Though yes, Joel's killing of the scientists was quite forced. You can't progress without doing it (or at least one of them apparantly). I guess they had the sequel planned all along.

I've been seriously considering buying a copy of legend of dragoon, even at the £150 price it currently commands. So super happy to see it legally playable cheaper finally.

I remember playing the game boy one quite a bit when I was a kid. Though my expectations were a lot lower back then obviously.

Legend of dragoon! If Europe actually gets it this time it will be the first time since it's original release.
