Happy 25th birthday to one of the, if not the, best games ever made.
Hope that elusive remake is still real and not internally cancelled.

Man, 25 years. Times really flies huh?

I still remember playing this game on PS1 and the main ost, Melodies of Life, was beautiful which i still remember the lyrics and tune to this day. And while it's not my fav FF but it still a very solid FF to play or a start point for a newcomer.

I hope a remake is in the works! Keep everything the same. Just updated characters and environments along with some voice acting. That’s all I ask!

I am currently replaying it on the switch but may hold off in case there's an announcement for a remake.

Can't wait for it to be released completely buggy and borderline unplayable and for Square to release 1 minor patch for it and then run off with the money.

If a remake is true, please don't make it multiple games again like FFVII. Don't want to wait another decade to finish one story.

My favourite game of all time. So hyped for whatever comes out of this

Great game but when I replyed it recently it was very much a case of rose tinted nostalgia helping me remember the game as being far bigger and better than it actually was. In my head the world map was huge, but on a replay you realise how its pretty much a straight line game until you reach the BM Village, the map just tricks you to make it feel bigger.

Still a solid entry but not one I would play again, at least not any time soon.

@Dalamar The creatives responsible for the FF VII remake project are presumably still working on the 3rd game in that, if FF IX remake is real they will likely have nothing to do with it.

It's looking likely for the switch 2 direct coming up. But, I bet it will be on playstation too.

Wonder how they'd do a remake. Would it retain similar character designs or would they make it look more like FF7R? Also FF7Rs larger story is different, almost a quasi-sequal of sorts, so would an FF9 remake be the same?

FF7 was my fave game since the PS1 era always has been but the remake really has gutted it for me, I started playing 7 Part 1 4 months ago for the first time. I actually got into the combat some story changes are cool like introducing Wedge, Biggs etc but some are like WTH.

I own part 2 on disc but haven't got around to it until I finish part 1 but I don't feel like it, for a remake of 9 I beg for the turn based system to stay I really do

My favourite final fantasy, but yes I share the same concerns about a remake as others on this thread.
Though, it'd be pretty bold of square to bring their modern 'turn based is so old' mentality to this one. I suspect a remake will be a bit more faithful to the original this time.

FF6 and 9 are my all-time favorite entries, really hope they give us westerners a chance to get a lot of the planned products. Always wanted the soundtrack on vinyl.
