We'll have to see how this plays out but it was always a bit of a weird strategy imo
There was no consistency with the approach and it just seemed odd and unnecessary to try to sell games out of their own thriving ecosystem. Why risk increased piracy, giving other platforms percentages etc for little gain
Returnal is still my game of the generation in many ways so I have full trust in the developer for this
I never felt like Returnal was unfair personally. I think at most a run would last around an hour or so and you always made progress in terms of levelling up weapons, improving your own skill and learning more about the game so my time always felt valued
This is actually a really good, unique poker game though. Along with Poker Night 2
The AI isn't anything special so it's not super challenging, however where it excels is the conversation between the players throughout the game and each hand. It really immerses the player as if you were really sat at a poker table with a bunch of random characters
@Nf157 yeah I was thinking that but wondered if it was just me
I haven't played a great deal this year so thought it might've been that but a lot of it wasn't interesting at all. A large chunk of it was adverts for the Pro, new controllers and PS Plus Extra...
Funnily enough I started playing RDR on PC the other day. It still holds up well as a game and looks nice and shiny with decent graphics and framerate settings
While an upgrade would be lovely and should definitely happen, this is one of a few games where I don't find framerate to be that important. It runs well at 30, it's mainly the graphics look a bit weak on PS4 compared to what can be shown on Xbox or PC
That's bizarre that they had to launch it effectively as a new release because of the platinum trophy situation. It was an odd oversight when it first released so good on them for fixing it
@Lowdefal oh of course. From a business point of view it's true that their costs have gone up and from that same business view they're entitled to increase prices, particularly if still selling plenty of units as well. Hell, Xbox is increasing prices withoutbselling units so that's another idea ð
It's not Sony/PlayStation's fault. But it's still a nonsense and this kind of corporate "growth, growth, growth" mentality is just sad to see
@SilentC yeah Midnight Walk has been on my radar since release but the ÂĢ34 or whatever price has always seemed a bit steep for what it likely is. ÂĢ20 is much more reasonable to me so might go for that too
Of course the most sold games are going to be rehashes of Call of Duty, and the same GTA game that's been sold over and over for the last 12 years. It's the same with music, film, sport etc
I don't know why anyone cares what other people like
Strong agree with all of this from what I've played so far (around 6 hours, I believe)
I don't regret buying it but I'd probably go lower with the score tbh. It's a series that's always had flaws, but this feels like this most flawed yet.
It tries to be simple, but because of this it hardly brings anything interesting to the table aside from the setting, graphics and decent voice acting
Frustrating that this is the best game that Hangar 13 can put together in 2025
I'm a couple of chapters into Mafia and generally enjoying the vibe but already starting to feel like the game could/should be so much better (a general trend with this series)

Re: Sony's PSN Rebrand Is Well Underway, and the Clues Have Been There All Along
I have to say I find this incredible that you've made about 5 articles about this now ð
This seems like the dullest news ever
Re: Europe Is Putting Harsher Age Restrictions on All the Things You Hate About Modern Gaming
@rjejr I was gonna say, I couldn't even tell you where it says the PEGI rating when buying a digital game
Re: Sony Returns to PlayStation Exclusivity and Stops Single Player PC Ports, New Report Says
Exclusives have been key in console gaming since the very start, it was weird that some key people wanted to try to change that
Re: Sony Quietly Decided to Scale Back PC Ports Last Year, Insider Claims
We'll have to see how this plays out but it was always a bit of a weird strategy imo
There was no consistency with the approach and it just seemed odd and unnecessary to try to sell games out of their own thriving ecosystem. Why risk increased piracy, giving other platforms percentages etc for little gain
Re: Sony Makes Shocking Decision to Shut Down Bluepoint Games
As everyone else has said, this is a disgrace and quite concerning regarding the future
Re: Opinion: The Euphoric Reaction to PS6's Rumoured Delay Really Confuses Me
"Maybe I'll increasingly out of touch" - I do agree with this bit Sammy
I don't think many people are "championing" the delay of a next gen, it's just that they/we don't want/need it at this time
To me it's irrelevant how crusty and old the PS4 may seem now when the PS5 is still more than adequate for what it does right now
Re: Fans Are Already Debating Whether God of War's PS5 Trilogy Will Cut the Series' Sex Minigames
I haven't played so didn't realise this was a thing but would be surprised it they were kept in by the sounds of it
Re: Sony Considering PS6 Delay to 2028 or Even 2029, New Reports Says
@get2sammyb crazy as in that's still too soon or too long a wait?
Like a lot, I'm still more than happy with what PS5 does and don't see the need for a new console anywhere in the near future
Re: Saros Shaves Off Returnal's Rough Edges for a More Universally Appealing PS5 Roguelite
Returnal is still my game of the generation in many ways so I have full trust in the developer for this

Very excited for this and glad to see it reviewed well

That's very random!

Well that's a surprise to start us off

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated PS5 Games of 2026?
GTA 6, Reanimal, Saros, Lords of the Fallen 2 and Mortal Shell 2 for me
Re: Going Platinum #3: Tales from the Borderlands
It's a great Telltale game imo. Up there with Walking Dead Season 1 and The Wolf Among Us
Re: Out of Words Is a Stunning Stop-Motion Co-Op Adventure Heading to PS5 in 2026
Yes yes yes. More games like this please
Re: PlayStation Wrap-Up 2025 Live Now, Get Your Gaming Stats for the Year

Bit disappointing
Re: Going Platinum #1: Rocket League
Love this as a feature. Also have a very similar view to you on trophies
Re: Lies of P Dev 'Will Not Disappoint' with Upcoming Games, Says Director
I'm sold whatever they do. Lies of P was great and Overture just took it to another level
A sequel might be my most anticipated game tbh
Re: Free Mafia PS5 Update Adds Open World Mode, Gear, and Challenges Tomorrow
I'm glad the game seems to be generally doing well because I love the series and am all for more games like this...
but I thought it was pretty disappointing with a very bland story and mostly generic dull gameplay
Re: Talking Point: The Game Awards 2025 Nominations Announced: Who Are Your Winners?
Looks like the Expedition 33 guys may as well just host the show at this point
Re: 'Very Vague' Rumour Claims Sony May Scale Back PC Ports of PS5 Games
Regardless of if this is true, I do tend to agree that it makes sense.
PlayStation should stick (or pivot back) to supporting strong exclusives to keep their dominance in the console/gaming space
Either that or put Bloodborne, Demon's Souls and Gran Turismo 7 on PC and make a ton from that
Re: Red Dead Redemption 1 on Its Way to PS5, New Age Rating Suggests
Funnily enough I started playing RDR on PC the other day. It still holds up well as a game and looks nice and shiny with decent graphics and framerate settings
Re: Ghost of Yotei PS5 Sales Surpass 3.3 Million Units, Crush Boycott Nonsense
Crush Boycott sounds like a weird Crash Bandicoot rip off
Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Now the Fourth Best Selling Game Ever, Still Chained to PS4 at 30FPS
While an upgrade would be lovely and should definitely happen, this is one of a few games where I don't find framerate to be that important. It runs well at 30, it's mainly the graphics look a bit weak on PS4 compared to what can be shown on Xbox or PC
Re: Remakes Eclipse Remasters for PS5 Gamers, Generate Double the Money
This seems like the most obvious news
I really don't think we need any senior analysis into this
Re: Rumour: PS Portal Could Be About to Get Even More Compelling
This should have been a thing from the start imo, but good to see that the device is getting the support it deserves and people are enjoying it
Re: Croc Platinum Edition Adds Trophies and Time Trials, Existing PS5, PS4 Owners Get it for Free
That's bizarre that they had to launch it effectively as a new release because of the platinum trophy situation. It was an odd oversight when it first released so good on them for fixing it
Re: Croc Platinum Edition Adds Trophies and Time Trials on PS5, PS4, But No One Knows If It's an Update or Re-Release
Must be a free update surely. It's coming out on Thursday so not too long to find out
Re: PS5 Is the Most Successful Console in PlayStation History, States Sony
@Lowdefal oh of course. From a business point of view it's true that their costs have gone up and from that same business view they're entitled to increase prices, particularly if still selling plenty of units as well. Hell, Xbox is increasing prices withoutbselling units so that's another idea ð

Re: PS5 Is the Most Successful Console in PlayStation History, States Sony
Next week's news:
"We have to increase the price" etc etc
Re: Yooka-Replaylee PS5 Demo Available Now, and Your Progress Carries Over to the Full Game
Love this. The resurgence of demos is great to see
Will absolutely check this out too, so the marketing works (at least for me)
Re: 60+ PS5, PS4 Games to Buy in PS Store's Autumn Adventures Sale
@SilentC yeah Midnight Walk has been on my radar since release but the ÂĢ34 or whatever price has always seemed a bit steep for what it likely is. ÂĢ20 is much more reasonable to me so might go for that too
Re: USA's Top 20 PlayStation Games of All Time May Surprise You
I think people are overthinking this
Of course the most sold games are going to be rehashes of Call of Duty, and the same GTA game that's been sold over and over for the last 12 years. It's the same with music, film, sport etc
I don't know why anyone cares what other people like

I did like End of the World, but not sure about this
Not every game needs to be a tv show as well etc etc
Re: 'The Tension Is Hurting a Lot of People': Ex-Bethesda Boss Speaks Out on Subs Like Xbox Game Pass
I just find it hard to care tbh when almost everything in the world is short sighted. Particularly from mega corporations
Re: Black Myth: Zhong Kui Announced with Cinematic Teaser, Won't Be Out for a While
Wukong was great so looking forward to this
Does sound a long way off unfortunately
Re: Mafia: The Old Country (PS5) - Historical Crime Story Runs Out of Ammo
@Reeneman cutescenes definitely kick into a lower framerate, regardless of which settings you choose
Re: Mafia: The Old Country (PS5) - Historical Crime Story Runs Out of Ammo

Re: PS5 Pro Will Upgrade and Enhance This Week's Mafia: The Old Country
13 hours is fine if it's a good game
Let's see tomorrow/Friday how this pans out
Re: Mafia: The Old Country Explores Side Content in New PS5 Trailer
That's disappointing that we aren't getting a PS review at or before release.
I'll still likely get this unless early impressions are a bit miss
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for August 2025?
Lies of P is great but I already have it so the month once again is pretty much nothing for me
Re: Mini Review: Wuchang: Fallen Feathers (PS5) - Decent Souls-Like Suffers Technically
I do agree that it's a bit odd this game has only got a "mini" review though. This game will be one of the better sellers this year
Re: Mini Review: Wuchang: Fallen Feathers (PS5) - Decent Souls-Like Suffers Technically
People still confused about review scores and people having different opinions in 2025 ðĪŠ
I'm still looking forward to giving this a go myself
Re: EA Sports FC 26 Is Finally Trying to Give Everyone What They Want
Call me a cynic, but I don't really see how this will be much different than the "simulation" settings we had last year
Re: EA Sports FC 26's First PS5, PS4 Trailer Is an Ode to the Haters
I only really got FC25 last year because I'm an idiot and my team's stadium was in the game (Bristol City)
I found the game to be the usual mix of frustration with the odd moment of brilliance
I'd love them to lean more into the "authentic" or simulation settings as they did a bit last time and instead have a proper online mode for that
Re: Astro Bot Has Added Its Most Wanted Cameo in Huge PS5 Update
As others have said this is already a spoiler in itself ð
But I guess it's out there now so people will find out soon anyway
Re: Twisted Metal Shapes Up for Another Season of Sublimely Stupid Television
Nice one. I really liked the first season as well so glad we're getting more of it
Re: Gunslingin' Shooter Call of Juarez Rumoured to Be Revived After Over a Decade
I'll always remember Bound in Blood as it was the game that red ringed my 360 at the time ð
