The Uncharted Vibes Are Off the Charts in New Mafia: The Old Country PS5 Gameplay 1

If you’ve been longing for a linear narrative-style adventure inspired by Uncharted for PS5, then Mafia: The Old Country couldn’t be coming at a better time.

This new 10-minute gameplay video – captured exclusively by IGN – looks like a long-lost Naughty Dog adventure, in a good way.

While the production values are a little weaker in places than we would have liked, you can see Nathan Drake’s DNA all over this – from the slow, story-driven opening through to the eventual eruption of stealth and cover-based combat.

Playing as Enzo Favara, you’re armed with throwing knives which can be used in stealth, but will later find yourself switching to louder weaponry, like shotguns and pistols.

There’s a deliberate pacing to the gauntlet which reminds us of Uncharted, although it seems like you have a few different options to approach the action as you like.

We suspect some may complain this looks a little dated, as adventure games have generally become a little larger in scale of late. But personally we like the PS3 era vibes – it’s been a while since we played such an unashamedly linear third-person shooter, and honestly we’ve missed them a bit.

But what’s your stance on all this? At $49.99/£44.99, this game will be a little cheaper than your average PS5 title, so remember to factor that into your decision.
