Honestly surprised. I know it's a Rockstar game, but I never even hear about its sales numbers. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and GTAV constantly charted for over half a decade. Where were RDR2's sales? Steam? It's the 23rd best selling right now, and has been on a top 100 streak for...1 week now.

Not that I'm saying Take-Two is lying. I'm just...surprised.

I'd take any of the top 4 options.

I got tired of waiting for a PS5 option and finally played it on PC over the summer. Truly an incredible experience; I never experienced that level of immersion in a game world before in my 30+ years of gaming. Unforgettable. I would buy it again in a heartbeat if they released a quality PS5/6 port.

@Frmknst I do not think I would consider Red Dead Redemption 2, a $400 million sequel from the GTA guys, either arthouse or anti-mainstream. It's kinda like saying Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is an obscure arthouse movie.

This article seems to completely ignore the fact that it's available on PC with higher frame rates. So it isn't really shackled to PS4 or 30FPS.

This game desperately deserves a 60fps remaster along the lines of the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves collection where they perfect the single player and leave the multiplayer on the chopping block. Make it a trophy hunter’s paradise!

@Balaam_ I can’t argue with that. The multiplayer grind is the only thing stopping me doing a platinum run on this. My time is limited which is why I stick to mainly SP gaming

All they would have to do is crank the graphics and offer 4K 60fps on pro, 4K 30fps on base, better than PS4 settings for performance mode and that’s it. Free update. Why are people willing to pay this? So weird..

I would settle for a 60fps patch for the PS4 version but yeah a remaster what gives us 60fps, RT and such would be the dream.

I'm not a massive fan of PS4 games getting remastered, but I'd go for this one. However the game still looks beautiful enough, I booted it up a couple of months back just to mess about in that world and it's incredible

Fingers crossed it hit’s soon on PS5 and Series Consoles. Nate the hate leaked it as still a thing and it’s real just not sure when it’s releasing. It makes sense to come in 2025 as this would be the first year Rockstar hasn’t put out a game. The Rumor mill keeps going on this one. The moment it’s confirmed i will be so happy as it’s my favorite video game ever made. Please make it happen soon Rockstar!

I really like this game. I think i spent more than 50-60 hours but i never feel one bit that this game feels sluggish / laggy to play and needs 60 fps / remaster. Not just it looks beautiful but it also runs really well at 30 fps which i think it fits with the game slow pace.

Not every last gen games needs a remaster, especially the ones who already looks beautiful and runs really well.

Posterity judged this one. I see people in comments across the internet now wondering how GoW won goty over this in 2018. GoW is lovely but when all was said and done I'm still seeing memes and chatter about RDR2 7 years on.

@DennisReynolds it looks like it has its own kind of RT already, another thing that made this game so ahead.

@TheArt It doesn't because PS4 and X1 don't support RT and certainly can't run RT. The consoles would frigging melt and run in single digits if you got RT running on them 😅.

@Gremio108 I replayed it last year. Other then slightly aged character faces the game could pass for a PS5 game in my opinion.

After adoring RDR1 I really wished I could get into 2 but the slow pacing bored me to turn it off and never load it again.

Maybe I’d give it another shot if it came to ps5. Amazing sales figures anyway!

Wii Sports was definitively THE game most people bought their Wii for, so I find it right to factor it in.

How will we handle Astro‘s Playroom? It is in my opinion much more than a tech demo, a fully fledged out game with a reasonable length. Assume the PS5 sales would be 82m at the moment, would Astro‘s Playroom be considered the third-best selling game?

I don’t have a fixed opinion on that, and I‘m interested in yours.

It's not just the frame rate that's needs improving for PS owners.

RDR2 is the first game from Rockstar that I purchased and played start to finish. It came to the scene just shortly after I had finally burned out on exploring every nook and cranny of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much the games resembled each other in the best open world kind of way. RDR2 is on my all-time best games list.

the best console to play RDR2 when it came out was XB1X, true 4K@30fps
I joined the XB1X train a bit later so I already played it on PS4Pro which was the second best and very good.
I would definitely play it for the third time with a proper PS5/XBSX upgrade. and pay for it. RDR2 is my personal favorite game of the last generation of consoles.

@Max_the_German It's all a bit murky isn't it? My thinking is that Astro Bot is technically system software, whereas Wii Sports is technically a Wii title that just happens to be bundled with the system.

Definitely room for discussion, though. You could even tie it back into the whole 'sales versus players' debate, as that starts to factor in free-to-play games. The market's changed and all that.

They ditched that gens first party support soon after that console was released in favor of development of series X games. Which turned into the utter crap show that we're currently witnessing these last few years and present. @StitchJones you obviously never owned one together with ps4pro. Xb1x was rendering RDR2 at full (not checkerboard not upscaled) native 4K and the box got more playtime than ps4pro (which yes ps exclusives but not much else). Also guess which of those consoles I had could use elite2. C'mon man, stop parroting nonsense.
