Red Dead Redemption 2 has just claimed the fourth spot on the list of all-time best selling video games.
According to publisher Take-Two's latest financial report, Rockstar's open world Western is now sitting pretty at a frankly ridiculous 79 million copies sold, taking it above Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
And yet, the incredible tale of outlaw Arthur Morgan remains locked to the PS4, where it runs at a meagre 30 frames-per-second.
Rumours of a port have been doing the rounds for what feels like an age, but concrete evidence has frustratingly never emerged.
We've been saying this for years, but it's such a shame that Red Dead Redemption 2 hasn't been handed a PS5 revival. The game was, and still is, a technical marvel — but we can't help but dream about a current-gen re-release.
It feels like there's money (and mindshare) being left on the table here, but then the title's clearly still selling, despite being chained to last-gen consoles.
Hell, a PS5 port would almost certainly push Red Dead Redemption 2 to third place on the all-time sellers list — it's only a few million units behind Wii Sports!
While it's true that Take-Two and Rockstar's perspective has forever been twisted by the insanity of Grand Theft Auto 5 and its absurd levels of success, it's got to be looking at Red Dead Redemption 2 as a truly monumental achievement.
