2K and Hangar 13 have finally confirmed Mafia: The Old Country will have official PS5 Pro support when it launches this Friday.
The title's social media account says the PS5 Pro will offer "higher dynamic resolution in both Quality and Performance modes", VRR support, and 120Hz TV display support.
Up until now, the game's trailers have stated they were captured from PS5 Pro hardware, but it was not very clear if the upgraded PS5 system was offering any actual benefits over the base PS5. Now we know what to expect on release day, 8th August.
On the base PS5, it was previously confirmed Performance Mode runs "at an average" of 60fps, suggesting there might be frame rate drops here and there. The PS5 Pro will presumably smooth all that out and increase the resolution, as the tweet states. The PS Store pre-order page now also carries a "PS5 Pro Enhanced".
Mafia: The Old Country releases for PS5 this Friday for £44.99 / $49.99, promising a linear, story-focused experience and no open world. Are you picking up and playing it this weekend? Let us know in the comments below.

That's a big W for sure.... but I'm still going to wait on reviews and still want to know what the actual length of the game is.
Edit: Bruh, I just looked it up, "apprently" it's 13 hours yikes... 💀
Very much wait for reviews game for me. The lack of console reviews is worrying.
This game looks like the type of thing I would wait for a discount to get. Mafia 3 was bad enough to make me lose faith in any new entries living up to the standard the first two established and the gameplay video I saw just didn't look impressive.
"The PS5 Pro will presumably smooth all that out". I'll wait for the DF analysis instead of presuming things. Thanks.
@DennisReynolds Yeah it's becoming a red flag in all honesty...
@DennisReynolds @Oz_Who_Dat_Dare @Oram77
(Unless im missing something in this case) Im not surprised there are no reviews out yet - for a game launching on a Friday, 4pm UK time (2hrs from now) on a Wednesday, or sometimes Thursday is perfectly normal.
More concerning is if review copies have not been sent out, which could be the case based on the above sentence "Now we know what to expect on release day, 8th August.", as if PS had a review copy it should be easy to see the Pro differences in hand.
@Rich33 "More concerning is if review copies have not been sent out" you are completely right, this is giving me the same vibes as Dragon Age Veil Guard who cherry picked who they gave codes to...
Pro patching can't make it longer than 13 hours play though...
I'll look at it once its half price - maybe.
It looks good, but like others im waiting on the length,im not paying 40 quid for a 6 to 8hr game
didn't know this was a $50 game, suddenly this game has gotten a lot more enticing
If it’s 13 hours of solid gameplay without anything shoehorned in to extend the games run time I’m all for it, even at full price. Everyone complaining about bloated games recently should at least support the developers going in the opposite direction.
@Kiefer-Sutherland I agree. I’m happy to pay £40 for a 10-15 hour game. My lack of gaming time means I appreciate shorter and less bloated games these days.
@Rich33 According to this very site console review codes haven't been sent out just PC.
@DennisReynolds
Must have missed that. In which case, definitely concerning - particularly with the "average" 60fps on base PS5 whatever that really ends up meaning.
@Oram77
I really enjoyed DAV (easily 9/10 game from my point of view), but I take your point. @DennisReynolds replied to me above saying review code only on PC, which straight up suggests issues with the console versions.
13 hours is fine if it's a good game
Let's see tomorrow/Friday how this pans out
Buzzing to boot this up on the Pro Friday evening, already pre-ordered!
There's me say with a 360hz monitor saying just concentrate on making the 60 fps mode the best it can be 😅
Not sure why theres the complaints about the length (well maybe digital players) 13 hours probably means a 25-30 hour platinum and you'll get practically all of your money back for selling it afterwards depending on your gaming time. We dont need game lengths bloated for the sake of it. This period is absolutely stacked for me I welcome a shorter game
@Oram77 Why is 13 hours considered bad by your standards? I think that’s a perfectly acceptable length, particularly in a medium where open world games are a constant. For $50.00, 13 hours seems fantastic.
@Kraven exactly do people not remember the ps3 and before or something games were considerably shorter for the same price there were games 4 hours long for $50 unless u was buying a jrpg
@Kraven I mean, with Expedition 33 costing the same amount and is 40-60 hours, I find it funny that I have to justify why 13 hours is a poor showing, but people can say a game has "bloat" example being FF7 Rebirth, I think too many people confuse bloat with opitional content/mini games 🤷♂️
@Oram77 All I’m asking is why you consider it a bad thing. It’s an honest question; I’m not asking for justification.
As for Clair Obscur, it’s an open world JRPG. Of course it’s going to be more time consuming that Mafia, a game that has been mentioned by developers as linear with a few open world tethers. Again, they are two different games going for different results.
