I wonder if this is legitimate though as media wholesalers still haven't received anything about anything in regards to the actual ps5, no price no release date no number of units available. Only info available at this time is that in the UK only the ps4 slim is available to order with the standard and pro no longer an option.

@get2sammyb funny this story came up I received information on monday stating that the ps4 pro is being discontinued.

Whether it's true or not I wouldn't really be surprised to be honest.

@Tacktful free updates are a good way to stimulate sales in an otherwise slow selling or dead game.

If the market decides to raise the rrp of games for this next gen then it's only fair to offer free upgrades for the older titles imo.

I would disagree with Neil on this one you can still tell a fantastic story with an open world setting and this story could have been told with the hub system he talks about. I also don't get this conflict he talks about maybe he can elaborate at some point. I liked the last of us 2 but I was a bit disappointed that gameplay was nothing we haven't seen before though.

This is a lie by Microsoft you just can't double frame rates on old software without issues. Full hdr b/c i look forward to seeing this and hope this isn't another lie.

@MarcG420 I started my career after technical college as a programmer, did that for 8 years then went back to uni for 4 and now work as a senior consultant in house but on occasion abroad. I ain't telling you who I work for so don't ask.

Performance boosting is easy im talking about other quality of life improvements.

My wishlist for improvements would be

Fps. Sometimes adjusting Fps due to hardware can break game mechanics and has to be patched as we have found out ourselves but otherwise not a problem

Full 4k upscaling,

Full hdr implementation.

If they can do this with their own ps5 os. I will be very impressed. Just to add the devkit had no boost function.

@MarcG420 it's got nothing to do with power be it either processing speed or ram.
It's to do with coding and the fact that unless software is patched by those who developed it on their end to take advantage of improved hardware specs there is very little that a hardware manufacturer in this case Sony who not forgetting are building the bulk of the ps5 with other third partys can do on their end.

Sure they might be able to tweak a few things but it ain't gonna be a game changer no matter how you cut it.

If they can really add hdr for instance to every ps4 title now that would be impressive piece of coding on their behalf!

@MarcG420 if im honest the boost on ps5 will probably be similar to the pro's. I expect all the ps4 games will run fine of a standard hdd it's the new ps5 architecture and ssd that could throw up some issues. I'm even doubtful that the xbox can add all the improvements that they have boasted about as well.

It's better to set expectations low to avoid disappointment.

@MarcG420 well they are testing the boost mode but only the top 100 ps4 titles at the moment. As I said it needs more work. As for upscaling or hdr coming from a boost or enhanced mode im sceptical this can be achieved.

The current ps5 boost mode needs work. Like the ps4 pro. Will it get added improvements? I'm doubtful.

I don't think they make stellar open world's sucker punch but they do make solid enjoyable gameplay so i expect this to be pretty good.

You say they characters feel like tokens because they needed not be gay. Okay then why is this an issue for you whether there gay straight or whatever. Are you saying that they should only put a gay character in if it's because the plot demands it?

So going by clvr if someone puts a gay character in something it's a token gesture.

If you studied film or art history you'd know that everything today is ripping of other historical works right back to prehistoric drawings in a cave.

No the story isn't original but if you can point out one professional review that says 'best story ever' which you've said they have a few times im eager to read that review.

I find the writing of tlou2 a cut above were most games land.

Like a certain character is a broken person so full of hate that they themselves are irredeemable at this point.

When one fights monsters one must be careful one does not become one themselves, comes to mind.

I would like NG to branch out to maybe a different style of game. Maybe a first person shooter set during the Vietnam war. That conflict could do with a gritty realistic game set during that time and it could tell an amazing story. Just my thoughts.

@themcnoisy they've learned how to make a system that works but forgot what made the 360 so popular!

A new ip would be good you can't just keep wheeling out halo forza.

@SwitchVogel I think if your looking a deep playing experience look elsewhere. What I have heard is its been designed that even a child could play this so take from that what you will.

I was a little shocked after seeing the reveal. I have never seen this before and i didn't even think it was possible outside of cgi.

The ps5 in the right hands is a game changer.

I hope the single player campaign is good. It's been in development for a while from what I hear.

I feel the devs pain on this they really misjudged the casual market. I get they're trying to merge rts and fps which others have attempted before and they just couldn't pull it of this time.

All is not lost though a few tweaks here and there I think they can find a nice sweet spot down the line. Don't give up is my advice.

I'll probably buy it myself soon enough im just keeping my schedule clear for tlou2 at the moment.

This will be a day one buy to support these guys!

@Mostik this will be my first console that I want customised. I have already spoke to someone about getting the white changed to black the blue changed to red and the blue leds changed to red leds.

Not being a fan boy but you can spend like 5 grand on a pc and it begs the question why? When it takes the likes of Sony and a supposedly 500 pound console to advance games to the next level!

Well none of these games are out yet so this is all pure speculation.

I read a report recently pretty much saying inflation was gonna skyrocket next year and that consumers will have to pay more for all products. It's the only way to protect the dollar/euro/pound going the way of currencys were you end up paying 1000's instead of 100's.

The markets will be very volatile for the foreseeable future. I think this will be a bigger factor on price than components or what the xbox will be!

Currently replaying the first again just to remind myself of all the events. What strikes me is just how good it is and tlou2 is just is good according to these reviews.

Anyhow it's hard to be overjoyed about a game being announced because a lot of the time it could be years away. I'd much prefer they announce a game maybe a few months before release.

And don't think for one second when they do announce something that it is for the fans. No!
It's primarily for the shareholders and an attempt to boost future company profitablity!

I haven't played it much maybe an hour or two. I thought it was very good and i left it installed though i will probably wait for the ps5 at this stage to get back into it.

Too many games so little time but i look forward to the time my own son can play and enjoy it.
